If it was just Jesse, Id say you were crazy. But its not just him is it? Lukaku, Smalling, even Sanchez went on to do better things than they were doing here. I think theres a HUGE question mark over out couching staff from top to bottom. How many players come here looking great, and then seemingly turn to shit? Pogba? Bruno? Even Cavani seems like a shadow of the player he was when he got here. Like his natural instincts are being coached out of him. Lets just say I wouldnt be shocked to see Martial leave for another club and start to really progress like we all thought he was going to years ago.
Sanchez? It's hardly as if he's setting the world alight at Inter, is it? He's doing passably. Might be that he's finally accepted that he isn't as good as he once was, and his shoulders have dropped as a result? Or maybe he told the truth when he said he regretted coming here after the first day of training?
Lukaku? Went from not having a team built around him and doing good, to putting on way too much bulk and having his game hampered by it, to then shedding that bulk and playing in a team set up to get the best out of him. One could ask how our fitness team weren't able to get him to shed that bulk, but he's a grown man, and he's gotta take some responsibility for that as well. He wasn't deemed starter material by Ole, who prefers more technically gifted #9s, so he asked to be allowed to leave.
Smalling? Doing exactly what he did here. He was good for us too, his lack of ability on the ball just meant that Ole didn't fancy him as a starter. Someone else did, and he was let go. The only people who think he's improved are the people who think any player on our books is shit.
Lingard's been honest about his struggles off the pitch, his been getting dog's abuse from our fans, and now finds himself in a new environment with less pressure. He's always worked hard and made the right runs, even under Ole, but his decision making on the ball kept letting him down. Maybe he was trying to force it? Maybe now, at West Ham with a lot less pressure, he doesn't overthink or try to force things, he just does what comes naturally to him? In any case, he's the only one of the players you list that has left and actually looked like a new player. But he's done so for two months. Worse players have had longer and more impressive purple patches. Let's give it some time before we declare him a world-class talent held back by our clueless coaches (under three different managers, no less.) It's not even his first time going through a period like this. Remember Messi Lingard? When he had 7 goals and 2 assist over 10 games? Yeah.
Pogba's never looked like he did at Juventus, but he's also injured all the fecking time. He's played some of his best football for us under Ole, though, so if he could stop getting injured, maybe we'd see that player again?
People have been complaining about Bruno's worrying form since last season, but he's been the same player the entire time, just knackered like the rest of the team. His productivity also got normalised to the point where people stopped being awed by his output and started noticing that he's got flaws as well, only they're acting like these flaws came into existence when they discovered them, instead of having been there all along.
I'm not saying our coaching is perfect, or that our coaches always get the best out of our players, I'm saying that you're clutching at straws here.
