it would be so hilarious! But chances are higher that Schalke wins the Bundesliga this season.Hope PSG fail to make it out of their CL group. Would be hilarious.

I'm not denying the Ligue 1 is a one team league since Qatar took over PSG but so is bundesliga and serie A.There is only one true one team league and that sir is Ligue 1.
Somehow Poch managed to feck up the easiest one horse race around.
Ah, but it's an independent report though, made by Bartomeu & Son LtdYeah it would mean 2 to 4 millions coming only for Messi. Not happening.
No, but it will hardly make a difference to the tourism industry in Paris and France in general. 5-10% would mean two million extra tourists solely because of Messi playing out his final football years in the city. The same could be said if Chelsea had used that argument for London. It's not going to hurt either.
Not exactly since the employers also pays contributions on the amount actually spent before you get brut/gross. It's even more significant for CDDs because the difference between gross and net is pretty slim.Net is what the employee receives from the employer, it's before income taxes. Brut/gross is the amount that the employer actually spend, it includes social contributions and pension.
Am I missing something? That's what I said. Not exactly since the employers also pays contributions on the amount actually spent before you get brut/gross. It's even more significant of CDDs.
Here's the breakdown directly from the government website if anyone is interested (note that his net after tax will be higher than displayed here since, as I mentionned earlier, it doesn't take into account that part of his salary will be paid through image rights taxed differently) :
Unless I didn't understand your comment properly, you wrote " Brut/gross is the amount that the employer actually spends". The amount the employer actuelly spends is "cout total", it's "gross+employer contribution", then net is "gross minus employee contribution".Am I missing something? That's what I said.
Juventus was a massive mistake for RonaldoNo matter how good he is on the field, he certainly lacks decision-making skills off the field. Ronaldo made better decisions and winning a CL with Juventus looks farfetched but if he does, there is no looking back for him.
As a wage, the charge patronales aren't part of the wage unless I'm mistaken.Unless I didn't understand your comment properly, you wrote " Brut/gross is the amount that the employer actually spends". Picked PSG to avoid sharing the limelight with Messi, if only he knew the cost of being hasty with such life decisions...Must be chuffed he gets to play with Wijnaldum. Humbling moment for little Lionel I bet.
From an accounting point of view you're right, i thought you meant what the employer actually spends when he's paying a gross salary of X€, what we call "salaire chargé", my bad.As a wage, the charge patronales aren't part of the wage unless I'm mistaken.
Do you get to be called a mercenary when you've played for 1 club for 21 years?I'm an outlier on this one, but it seems to me Messi has more than enough money in the bank already to swim in extreme luxury to his last breath. I seriously doubt I'm wrong about that.
But then there's the undesirable desire to pile on another winner's medal to his enormous vault of medals. There's nothing like winning a league or European medal, but there's something a bit too mercenary for me about the arguable GOAT piling onto a squad that's already beyond stacked in what is undeniably a second tier league. It's not as though Messi has never won a CL trophy.
I was thinking about accounting, that's the only angle I have. From an accounting point of view you're right, i thought you meant what the employer actually spends when he's paying a gross salary of X€, what we call "salaire chargé", my bad.
Agreed. Bad timing on his part, PSG has playmates more to Messi’s liking I think.Juventus was a massive mistake for Ronaldo
Massive mistake for Juve too.Juventus was a massive mistake for Ronaldo
I'm not sure that's how shirt sales workShirt sales would pay for it
Ronaldo was completely dominated in La Liga winning a total of 4 La Liga & Copa Del Rey out of 18 cups available vs Messi's 12 in 9 years. He only received the best player award once in La Liga versus Messi's 6.There is a huge difference between playing English sides 3-4 times a year and having your ankles kicked 30-40 games a year by the likes of Sunderland, West Ham and Crystal Palace. There is also the issue of adjusting to the culture, food, weather and tactics of United/City/Chelsea.
Look at what happened to Di Maria, Veron, Shevchenko, Crespo and Deco. None of them could adjust.
Look at Hazard - total disaster at Madrid despite being a top-5 attacking midfielder in PL.
In winters, the grounds in England are harder and wetter than in Spain - high chances of twisting your ankles, slipping in an awkward way, etc.
Who is to say that Messi would remain injury free during his time in England?
Fernando Torres was once expected to be at least as good as Cristiano. Guess what? One bad injury in November and he was never the same player.
When Cristiano joined United, United were the 3rd favorites behind Arsenal and Chelsea in the PL and a Tier 1 team in the CL.
He left them as PL favorites and Tier 1 team in the CL.
When Cristiano joined Madrid, Madrid were a distant second favorites behind Barca in La Liga and a Tier 3 team in the CL (Tier 1 - United, Barca, Chelsea; Tier 2 - Milan, Arsenal, Bayern, Juve).
In 9 years he won 2 Ligas and 5 CLs.
When Cristiano joined Juve, Juve were strong but an ageing team. Juve have suffered from managerial instability and spent over Euro 500 million on players other than Cristiano since his time there. Can you name more than 3 Juve players who you would pay over Euro 50 million for? The management has wasted money.
Despite all this, Cristiano has one 2 Serie As and 1 Domestic Cup.
On the other hand, Messi has played in a team which is at worst considered the second favorites to win the League. Barca will always be top-4 - think about it, if they are unable to register their 4 signings, are Barca expected to fall outside top-4? That's how easy it is for them.
Now consider international competitions - Copa America vs Euro.
Messi plays in a tournament which has 3 strong teams other than the one he is in: Brazil, Uruguay and a surprise team (Colombia/Venezuela/Chile).
Theoretically Messi is bound to be a semi-finalist/quarter-finalist almost every time.
Ronaldo plays in a tournament where at least on paper France/England/Italy/Netherlands/Germany/Spain and 2-3 surprise teams like Belgium/Croatia are at least in the same tier as Portugal, if not better.
How many goals has Messi scored in competitive games when compared to Ronaldo?
How many goals has Messi scored in competitive games against the top-30 when compared to Ronaldo?
Messi is a more talented player than Cristiano but lets be real, his body of work is nowhere close to Ronaldo.
Leeds already won the pl long ago. It would be more suitable to join David Moyes.I'd love it if he went mental and said "I've won everything, been the Goat and would love to join a smaller club, help them flourish and change the course of history in terms of establishing teams... I'm going to Leicester for 180k pw."
You can be a mercenary any time.Do you get to be called a mercenary when you've played for 1 club for 21 years?
I still don't understand why they thought that it was a good idea. As good as Ronaldo was he didn't look like a good fit for a team that was that close from the top, his needs didn't match with what they had and it clashed with what Dybala was providing. I could be wrong but I think that it also ruined Dybala by making him an awkward side piece.Massive mistake for Juve too.
And if he went to City? Anyway when you are the biggest club legend in history I think you dont deserve that label. Its a bit like calling Pelé a mercenaryYou can be a mercenary any time.
He could've signed with every team in the world if he really wanted to.They are the only team that can afford him, outside of City, it’s not like he had many options.
Agreed. Would've just meant a pay cut. The guy probably had half a billion in the bank. He really could if he wanted to.He could've signed with every team in the world if he really wanted to.
Where would you prefer him to go? City (won 3 league titles in the last four years)? Bayern (won 9 league titles in a row)? Juve (won 9 league titles in the last 10 years)?I'm an outlier on this one, but it seems to me Messi has more than enough money in the bank already to swim in extreme luxury to his last breath. I seriously doubt I'm wrong about that.

2012 City sure, but he has Pep there which is more than enough reason anyways. And like others have said, he and his dad are in control, he isn't owned by an agent, he controls his own destiny and can easily go anywhere he wants. Unless for some reason his family needs that 3 million a month to survive. And if he went to City? Anyway when you are the biggest club legend in history I think you dont deserve that label. Its a bit like calling Pelé a mercenary
Footballing POV? He has won every club completion he has played in. This is his final paycheck. Why he go and slog it out somewhere else when he can win everything in another country and maybe help them to their first UCL win and all the while making a cool €1-2m a week.
Because it shouldn’t be about money for Messi. He is one of the highest paid sportsman and his revenue streams would continue long after he stops playing. This isn’t an average low to mid table footballer we’re talking about who is still trying to secure his family’s financial future. Why would he go anywhere to play for £200k a week when he can easily get someone to pay him £1m a week? £200k is the sort of money much inferior players get.
What if Messi decided that PSG was the ideal destination because he will join one of his friends, will live in Paris with his family, can try to win an other CL title, maybe elevate the profile of Ligue 1 and earn a lot of money? Those are fairly basic ideas, would it be less disappointing?Because it shouldn’t be about money for Messi. Regardless, if money is the only reason to join PSG, it is an even more disappointing thought.
