I can sort of get it with 'Liverpool' even though I don't like it but this? What are they getting at?

They should trademark RAWK.

I was at the game on Sunday at Murrayfield in amongst the Napoli fans. Some of the Scottish Italian people around my friends and I told us Napoli have chanted that song for at least 5 years. Celtic also sang it about Kieran Tierney before them.

You can be sure that every single football chant was been "taken" from another set of fans. This attempt isn't so much weird as it is unbelievable greed, trying to squeeze the last cents out of every single football connected thing.

Didn’t see them in such a rush to trademark the phrase ‘will not let it slip’?

It wouldn't be a 'trademark', unless the phrase was tied to or indeed printed on some sort of commercial product.

Copyright would be more appropriate for the wording of a chant but what would be the point? How would they demonstrate loss if it was infringed?

An application to register a place name as a trademark is very unlikely to succeed, far too generic to be capable of protection.

Aside from the fact that it's pretty ridiculous, I'd fire the lawyer who came up with this idea on the spot. Absolutely no claim to be had here.

Is the go to response to everything.
Oy, you scratched my car.

Have you been banging my wife?
#6 times
Put down my TV and get out of my house, I'm calling the police.

Do you realise that as a club, you're supporting a racist by wearing that t-shirt?
#6 times......

They probably wanted to merch it and did this to try and protect said merchandise.

What's the difference with "Liverpool FC" which is obviously protected anyways?

You let a Liverpool fan bang your wife?

For shame.

Exactly, fans are copying chants from each other since forever.

They’d come up with some alternative league table on how they suffered a loss due to copyright issues...
