You know what, every time I post something it's a WUM which is why I very rarely post anything I hear any more. I only post "facts" that are told to me, which these days is very rarely and then when I do It's a WUM. Well just wait and see.bob's being trying to win WUM of the year for a while now. Too obvious bob.
Ji Sung Park was 31, and a permanent fixture on the bench.Yeah, well there was a load in here who thought that Ji Sung would never go
Sorry, could resist fixing your postYou know what, every time I post something it's a WUM which is why I very rarely post anything I hear any more. I only post "fahcts" that are told to me, which these days is very rarely and then when I do It's a WUM. Well just wait and see.
Nice try Robert. Will he stay or will he go? Things are not going well. Nani is putting demands on the club which are not being met. Watch this space.
Exactly.Strange reaction to ukbob's post considering he's just telling us what has already been widely reported in the media.
Its about the taking part Bob.....Do I win yet?
Look at my start date, if that's not taking part, what is?Its about the taking part Bob.....
FFS you even said you were trying to win WUM of the year in another thread or something. That's why I pointed it out.You know what, every time I post something it's a WUM which is why I very rarely post anything I hear any more. It isn't the same article he read but one with with a similar description was posted earlier on this page: linkNow this could be bollocks but a fellow united fan in my office told me today that he'd read that United had offered Nani a "take it or leave it double your money" contract (from £75k to £150k). This had initially been rejected by Nani and his agent But a couple of days ago Nani indicated that he wanted to go back to the negotiating table with the club.
This guy could be talking out of his bottom for all I know, but hopefully there is an element of truth to it and he'll sign up soon.
tbf £90K is a bit of an insult to him.It isn't the same article he read but one with with a similar description was posted earlier on this page: link
Apparently the initial offer was around £90k but negotiations have started again. I doubt Nani would have turned down £150k.
oh sorry, I had only read the most recent page of the thread when I posted that.It isn't the same article he read but one with with a similar description was posted earlier on this page: link

I agree. It should be £130k+. Hopefully they can come to an agreement and it is good news negotiations have started again. It was only a few weeks ago Nani was talking about going elsewhere saying he's won everything here (even though he hasn't technically).tbf £90K is a bit of an insult to him.
I NEVER have to try!!FFS you even said you were trying to win WUM of the year in another thread or something. That's why I pointed it out.
I know, how the hell do they expect him to get by on 90k a week. I wouldn't get out of bed for that.£90k would be a bit of a joke for a player like him really. If that's as high as the club are willing to go to keep him I'd be a little worried.
Responding to your white text, it's not really sad at all.I know, how the hell do they expect him to get by on 90k a week. I wouldn't get out of bed for that.
I know what you mean btw, its just a sad state of affairs how crazy footballers salaries have gone.
Smalling never played in the third divison, he jumped 6 divisions from Maidstone to Fulham. You're talking a team that, at the time, was between the 161st and 222nd best team in the country - as their league was parallel to 2 others.Responding to your white text, it's not really sad at all.
Only the elite footballers get paid that much. When Smalling was in the 3rd English division, which would put him in the 46th-70~ best team in England, he was on 30 quid a week - petrol money.
They get paid according to the market, and just like doctors and actors, are paid according to supply and demand. Not everyone can become Wayne Rooney, or even an Andy Carroll. It's rather sad to suggest that one millionaire didn't earn his money 'as deservedly' as another person. Is Roger Federer overpaid? Is Tom Cruise? Is Roman Abramovich? Bill Gates? Just because they earn their money doing a fun activity, doesn't mean footballers are overpaid. Every boy and a lot of girls dream of becoming a sportsman/sportswoman when they are young, and only the few with the skill and determination succeed. Theres Chris Smalling's ex-teammates in division 1 or whatever, earning their 50 quid a week and probably working as well. They are fantastic footballers themselves. But only the very best earn 1000's of pounds, despite every kid playing that sport, and with so many competing, well, only the top 100 players in Britain will ever earn 1000 pounds a week, despite millions upon millions lacing up their boots at the age of 6.
They earn what they earn because they had opportunities and took them. It's only an issue for me when it's illegal.
They're out of hand and out of touch with the real world thats going through a recession. The spiralling wages are putting a strain on the clubs who's increased costs are pricing working class fans out of going to matches, which is sad as without the fans you've got no club. Anyway thats for another thread.Responding to your white text, it's not really sad at all.

Most players in the third division - League 1 as it would be called now - probably earn between £1k and £5k a week...
Only the top 100 players in the country will earn £1000 a week? There are players in my second teams division, Blue Sq Premier (Step 5) who earn comfortably more than that.
So what, i got my figures wrong and a few facts muchked up. It doesn't really matter that much; my point remains the same. So what if even 2000 English players (English, not say, the French players coming here is what I was referring to). The fact is, 10's of millions of kids grow up there playing football, and a very small percentage go on to earn any money worth writing about. (1k / week). They're out of hand and out of touch with the real world thats going through a recession. The spiralling wages are putting a strain on the clubs who's increased costs are pricing working class fans out of going to matches, which is sad as without the fans you've got no club. Edit: Just checked your figures there. Laughable. 3rd division players on £30 a week, and only the top 100 in britain earning £1000 a week
Its not really supply and demand if fans are getting priced out of football and clubs are going bust.So what, i got my figures wrong and a few facts muchked up. For some reason, I was thinking Maidstone was in the 3rd division, but it doesn't matter that much. The fact is, less than 0.01% of kids who play for club/reps and try to make something out of themselves in football, earn any serious dosh, and that's with millions giving up because they are no good.
I got the figures wrong, but the point, again, remains the same. They earn what they should according to supply/demand, and the fact is, it's rather annoying when people get jealous or whatnot, and think they are overpaid.
The majority will never amount to anything football-wise.
It's the same in other sports, but even worse in terms of earnings.
10's of thousands here play football competitively, yet I doubt more than 2-3 will make it into Championship; Ryan Nelson and Winston Reid are the only ones who made PL, and the former is by far our best recent player and was just captain of B'burn (not bad), the latter is part of a promoted team and probably won't feature much.
I'd just say that there's less consumer surplus. Its not really supply and demand if fans are getting priced out of football and clubs are going bust.
