Wouldn't want to take a punt on him, one season in Ligue 1 is not enough to go on.

Good thing that he has played in Ligue 1 for two years then. I don’t know the player well enough to say whether we should buy him or not. But Man Utd should have at least twenty-thirty reports from different scouts on talents like this, starting from his years in Brazil. He started playing for Corinithians first team in 2014.

Didn't know that. This is probably his first standout season though since you didn't hear him mentioned last year. If he had performed like this for one season already and continued into this season you would have heard about it.

My top choice for RW alongside Pulisic. We could do with that Brasilian flair on the right. Imagine him and Martial running the flanks......

Probably correct. But if we know the player well we should be able to assess if it is a matter of talent or one-season-wonder. Remember how often Ferguson was willing to take a punt on an unproven talent. He used to call it value.

He was already pretty good last season and linked with a €40m+ move to Dortmund in the summer to replace Dembélé.

If you follow the media hype you will only end up with Mendes and Raiola clients.

Yeah but seeing how we have no effective first choice RW we shouldn't resort to an expensive punt. We've carried that position and the fullback positions for too long, about time to get it right.

I have no idea who we should go for though. Pulisic is probably the bigger talent, but will also carry a more hefty pricetag, even though the marketing part of that deal might remedy that somehow.

6 goals and 4 assists in 15 games. Not bad at all.

And he is also the rare top player who will not be cup tied for the CL. So he would be a great signing for January.

Would be really good signing...we could slowly ease him into side too. Mikhi & Mata gone : Ozil and Malcom in !!!

Was a bit gutted when I realised this wasn't a thread about Malcolm in the Middle.

He should be sensible and not go to Barca.
Why the feck do they even want him? They were after William as well.

Chelsea put too high a price on William and so they've gone for Malcom instead.
The question is what is Barcelona gonna do with another wide attacker. They seems to be dead on for another attacker. First Griezmann, then Willian, now Malcom. Barcelona had great depth for attacking options. Malcom makes the least sense. He's still very unproven at top level and Barcelona has Dembele who need the most minutes outside the veterans. Dembele is much more experienced when it come to top level football, too

A surprising move for Barca, quality player for a reasonable price. I guess we are going to be the ones who could end up with William.

He'd be lovely on our right wing as well. It's frustrating seeing teams that have a better attack than us sign more attackers.

Imagine if someone did this to Barcelona. You'd never hear the end of it.

Malcom makes more sense than Willian for Barca
No he doesn‘t. They have Dembele for RW and Coutinho for LW. Willian would have made sense to bridge the gap until Dembele is ready, but why get another talent?

Yes, it does. It add a necessary tactical flexibility to Barca attack. Dembele has primarily played on the right for Barca. But he really thrives as a LW, which Barca knows. They played him there only sparingly.
But given the fact that Dembele can play and perform on both the right and left, Malcom would get plenty of opportunities with the rotations. When Malcom is RW, Dembele moves to LW where he thrives and Coutinho moves from LW to AM/CM. Malcom and Dembele give a lot of flexibility tactically while still getting playing time in the biggest competitions playing with and against the absolute best players.

Just sign the available best talent and worry about fitting later. Madrid kinda did that before their 4 year run. (James Isco Kroos Kovacic Casemiro Modric all midfielders)

That makes sense if it is a generational talent like Isco or Mbappe, but Malcom is not that. He is less talented than the likes of Dembele or Pulisic, who are both younger than him. Willian would have been the better choice. He is also the better choice for having another go at the CL. Their championship window is getting smaller, with Suarez and Messi on the decline.

Malcom and Dembele wouldn’t play at the same time. Busquets-Rakitic-Coutinho is the midfield, Messi and Suarez in attack with Dembele/Malcom/William on the right. Alba would have free space to attack on the left with Coutinho and Suarez falling there often.

That’s how they should play.

Willian makes no sense for them since Barca have been at their best with versatile forward types they have not really played with a winger like Willian who just whips crosses in. It is Semedo's job to provide width on the right.
