I played football on a good level for some time so I certainly know it can affect the player.. the reason why he gets selected? just look at rooney we have we selected in every game he was fit for last three season, if you're not that stupid you will get it but it's clear that Zlatan is trying to reserve some energy so his touch is a bit sloppy, you can even see that he's not trying to press defenders..

I've had a pretty decent run in sports myself and I know very well how the body reacts to fatigue.
You're theory that he's preserving energy and that's the reason why he can't relax his foot enough to stop a football is probably the most rediculous thing I've ever heard though.
