Let Rooney be Rooney
We can't win a tight game against them, open it up, width! tempo! Ronaldo with chalk on his boots! Rooney will clobber them.

I hear Drogba may be a doubt with a knee injury

He is saying it was just a dislocation and he will definitley play in the final.
He didn't waste too much time bringing that out. We'll see in the next few days, but it sounded like he's rushing himself back far too quick again.

Hopefully that leads to press spacking which'll fill the column inches.

I am not a man........I am Cantona
I have a feeling that Fergie is going to go with Anderson and Hargreaves in midfield with one other. I thought we was overran by Chelsea especially Essien last time and maybe Scholes and Carrick playing together who arent the quickest is a liability. Seeing as though Scholes is guaranteed to start Carrick could miss out. even though he has been great.

Ive been thinkin the same.

We may need Nani and Anderson for this game. They may even start for all we know. Beating Chelsea will demand strength and mobility in the middle with pace and skill on the wings.

Drogba and Terry will both play. Sounds like some early mind games to me-Trying to to generate momentum and possibly deflate United with the "Drogba and Terry fit for final", headlines.

Anderson won't start. He's fifth choice behind Scholes, Carrick, Hargreaves and Fletcher.

VDS

Brown Rio Vida Evra

Hargreaves Carrick Scholes

Ronaldo Rooney Tevez

Subs. PIG, O'Shea, Fletch, Anderson, Giggs, Park, Saha

Anderson and Giggs to come off the bench, with either Fletch (if we need to close the game up) or Saha if we need a winner.

Lets make this one a classic, but lets make this one a win

I would start Tevez.
Id like to, but that team wasnt what I want, its what I think Fergie will go for. Id love to start Tevez up top with Rooney on the left. Despite losing 1-0, I thought Rney was great against Chelsea in the FA Cup Final last season where he spent most of his time out on the left, regularly cutting in.

no idea about the drogba injury .. terry will be fine ..
a dislocated shoulder might hurt , but you can pop it back in easily .. unless there is more to it , he'd be training in 2 days time

full strength side .. everyone fit .. bring it on..
rio seemed up for it after the trophy presentation yesterday .. was looking at the fans and screaming "moscow"

4-5-1 me reckons .. tevez and rooney to start .. can change to 4-4-2 when we are having a good spell , can go 5 in the middle when we arent getting too much of the ball

In my opinion it will be:

Van Der Sar.
Brown Ferdinand Vidic Evra
Ronaldo Scholes Carrick Park
Tevez Rooney.

Maybe Nani if Sir Alex is in a forgiving mood.

Let Rooney be Rooney
We have a 100% record in champions league finals therefore statistically we're 100% sure to win, we can send the kids out, we don't even need the first team.

Its a funny old game
Isn't it great the next match on the Matchday thread is a European Cup Final:drool:

My prediction is that Chelsea are in for a shock. There all at the bridge, cocks out because they beat the reserves 2-1 a couple of weeks back. They won't do it in Moscow. Come on Utd!

------------Fletcher----Scholes------Carrick--------------

---Ronaldo---------------Tevez----------------Rooney------

Subs: Kuzczak, Silvestre, Giggs, Anderson, Nani, Saha, Hargreaves
Prediction: 3-0 win. Ronaldo hattrick
Rationale for selection: Fletcher the "big game" player to come in & do another harrying job in midfield. I predict that he will be Fergie's ace for this match. Remember 1999 when Fergie put Beckham on the left and Giggsy on the right. I foresee that Flecthinho's inclusion woul be his 2008 secret tactic.

Hopefully, this is the team that plays:

VDS

Brown
Rio
Vida
Evra

Carrick
Hargreaves
Scholes

Ronaldo
Tevez
Rooney

Keep Saha, Anderson and Nani on the bench in case we needed to attack even more or get a goal.

Going to be a great match, and I'm confident we'll get that trophy !

For the Busby Babes !

Perhaps Rooney as lone striker and Giggs to start at left. I have a feeling he will play because he is Giggs, but I wouldn't mind that. His experience could prove vital.

long time to wait for this one. I thought it was bad waiting for the Wigan game....

We have the advantage of one tropphy already so the pressure is definetly on them.
Hopefully we'll attack them as I don't want to see a repeat of last years FA Cup final where we showed them too much respect.

When we go after teams we tend to do well.

Glad to have Rooney and Vidic back too.

Prefer Giggs off the bench as the new Ole.

--Owen--Carrick--Scholes--
--Ronnie--Tevez--Rooney--

Subs: PIG, Mickey, Anderson, Fletcher, Giggs, Nani, Park
Left out: Foster, Neville, O'Shea, Pique, Saha

This is wank.
Redcafe is the biggest Manchester United forum on the internet and a special occation like the bloody Champions League final should have a proper matchday thread.
I mean for fecks sake, it should involve more work than just typing the names of the clubs involved and posting their crests.

How the teams got there, previous meetings, possible line-ups, their CL history and so on..
The mods should nominate someone who's proven to be a good poster and willing to put time and effort to it.

Anyone here agree?
Um, that's what we do on matchday threads. If you bother to look at these types of thread, all we do is discuss possible formations, tactics and what eleven is best suited to play
Anyway, my preferred line-up would be:

VDS, Brown, Rio, Vidic, Evra, Hargreaves, Carrick, Scholes, Ronaldo, Rooney, Tevez.
Subs: PIG, Silvestre, Fletcher, Anderson, Giggs, Nani & Saha.
