Maguire injured? Could be the perfect game to rediscover his confidence.

Although the last game was tough, these aren't a great team so we should rotate.

    .......................................................De Gea........................................................
    Dalot...........................Lindelof.....................Martinez..............................Malacia
    .....................................Casemiro............Fred..............................................
    Elanga..........................................Bruno.........................................Garnacho
    ...................................................Ronaldo............................................

5 Subs in Europa so I'd change Bruno & Ronaldo regardless of the score after about 50 minutes with Sancho and Rashford coming on.

Also be good to rest Dalot, Martinez and Casemiro if we are looking pretty comfortable.

Garnacho has to start this for me. He has looked great in all his cameos and you don't get many opportunities like this to give young players a shot.

This should be a comfortable game, so I would mix it up slightly...I would go with the below and have added my reasoning for doing so.

Dubravka (Low risk game, and would be good to give him some minutes)

Shaw (playing himself into form, would be silly to drop him now)
Varane (45 mins, replace with Matrinez at HT)
Lindelof (will lose his place at the weekend, so play him now)
AWB (Dalot was a little off form against Everton, so if it due to needing a rest this is the game to do it with)

    Casemiro (needs mins)
    Fred (needs mins too)
Eriksen (I'd like to see him in a further forward role - would be a good experiment vs Omonia. I'd give him 45 mins and bring Bruno on at HT if all goes well)

Sancho (Rashford deserves the spot on the weekend, so I'd play him tonight)
    Ronaldo (not much to add)
Antony (again, 45 mins, and then Elanga to come on if all is going well)

Surely time to give Eriksen a rest. Played every game so far which shows how important he is to the team but also shows that we simply cannot afford to lose him for any length of time to injury.

A bit of rotation, but nothing more as we can’t fukk about. Fred in for Eriksen. Sancho in for Antony to give him a punching bag to work into form. Lindelof to give Varane a bit more rest before the brutal upcoming matches in a short period of time.

    Dalot Lindelof Martinez Shaw
    McTominay Casemiro
    Antony Bruno Sancho
    Ronaldo

Hardest decision for me is the midfield... I think McTominay should play as he's banned for Newcastle, but I'd also like continuity for Casemiro and a start for Fred to keep him sharper. However, I wouldn't want to start all three of them even against this lot

Might as well try and win without Rashford as he's probably our most in-form forward and he's nailed on to start against Newcastle.

Hopefully, we can finally start a game fast and put it to bed in the first half. That's probably my main criticism under Ten Hag so far, when we've actually played really well, we never fully finished a team off relatively early in the match yet. If we can do that, we can make a sub at half time and then the other 3-4 pretty early on in the second.

Fred, Malacia, Garnacho, Elanga, Zidane etc to come hopefully. Take off Casemiro, Shaw/Dalot, Ronaldo, Bruno, Antony for the weekend.

A couple of rotational changes but nothing wholesale as we are still trailing Real Sociedad. Should have enough to beat this lot.

    Dubravka

    Dalot - Lindelof - Martinez - Shaw

    McTominay - Casemiro

    Antony - Sancho - Rashford

    Ronaldo

DDG, Heaton, Varane, Malacia, Iqbal, Fred, Eriksen, B.Fernandes, Pellistri, Elanga, Garnacho, McNeill

    Manchester United 4-1 Omonia Nicosia

Wholesale changes. Be fresh for Newcastle. 3 points are vital against them with Spurs and Chelsea coming up.

If we can't beat this lot at home with reserves, we're fecked anyway.

I'd like to think we won't give them a one-goal start this time! I'd really like to see us hammer someone soon - would prefer it to be Newcastle at the weekend but as that's not on the cards, I'd take tonight

We play a terrible team at home.
Rotation is needed here, with tough games coming up its time to use the squad.
Hope to see Garnacho start, Sancho has been awful and Garnacho need game time, this match is perfect for him.
Eriksen should be rested along with a couple of others.

    De Gea
    Dalot----Lindelof-----Martinez-----Shaw(Malacia)
    McT(Casemiro)----Eriksen(Fred)
    Antony(Elanga)----Bruno-----Sancho (Rashford)
    Ronaldo

Maybe give Varane some minutes from the bench instead of Rashford to get him match fit. Hope we have a comfortable lead by half time and get to rest Eriksen, Antony and Martinez. They have played all the games they were available for and we need them for the run of fixtures coming up.

Don't think Dubravka is starting this one. The staff is clearly working with DDG to improve the weakest aspects of his game and those are best tested in a proper game.

Would love to see Zidane start but not holding my breath.

Ten Hag does not making so many chances normaly. But I think it would be a good idea to rest some playes, so we can be fresh against Newcastle.

    ............DDG.............

    Dalot.Lindelöf.Martinez.Shaw
    ..........Casemiro.Fred...............
    ...............Bruno.....................
    Sancho..........................Elanga
    .................Ronaldo...................

Eriksen needs resting…Ronny has to play with no Martial. Sancho will be given a chance to redeem himself. Antony has to play.
for me a keeper should never be changed unless injuied
A keeper can play week in week out , he his not running for miles each games.
A stable defense starts with stable keeper.
Yeah but it’s not just about fitness. It’s about keeping the squad happy and the mood between the keeping department. Of course de gea could play every game…but if he gets injured…if he has a dip in form…you need back up. This game is perfect for giving the new guy some experience in front of an old Trafford crowd. Not like he is a kid.

    Same for Donny
Both are mysteries but not sure any journos have asked the question directly in press conferences.

He was on the bench a couple times and played in a game earlier this season. You also saw him in the preseason. Not sure why the conspiracy angle.

    Similar for DvB.

Not many posts in the last hour or so. Is there no excitement for this? I myself have got a half and half Omonia scarf primed and a Vat of whiskey to crack open

Ten Hag needs to use his squad better than this if that is the starting line up.
