You can’t simply not prepare for a first team game, so the training will be geared for the Young Boys game whoever he picks.
That's true. But whoever plays on Wednesday won't be training on Thursday. Whoever played vs Crystal Palace, won't be training on Monday.

Most probably will be a mix predominantly featuring players who haven't featured much. Like VDB, Matic, Greenwood, Lingard and Martial, if they're fit.

no chance should we risk injury and fatigue for a game that means nothing
But it does mean something, Rangnick has said himself it will take time to get players playing the way he wants. Its like a perfect training match and one where we have 5 subs

They just played 2 games in 3 days and there are tons of games coming. He needs more time with then in training next week than in the game.
Exactly this. They need to not have to be doing recovery work.

Hannibal is with his international team. Arab Cup runs from November 30 to December 18.
Hannibal missing is a massive shame, we need to start giving the lad some playing time.

Shaw needs a start, as good as Telles has been in the last couple of games Shaw is still probably the better player and having him back and actually performing will be a massive boost.

It'd be nice to see some of the kids get a go. Hopefully Amad and Elanga see some minutes.

If this was Ole he’d just name Rasford 11 times to play him into form and Bruno would somehow end up starting. No Bruno Maguire fred or Ronaldo.

Hope to see Deano, VDB, Bailly and Martial get a run out. Yeah I know league cup 2.0 but these lads needs minutes and the opportunities in reality are few and far between

Surely no Maguire with his head injury. I'd go Lindelof Bailly and Amad instead of Rashford.

    Wholesale rotation for this.

    Henderson
    Wan-Bissaka Bailly Jones Telles
    Matic van de Beek
    Lingard ---------------- Elanga
    Martial Greenwood
If Lingard and Martial are fit.
Playing Matic and Jones makes zero sense to me. Jones has no future here. Instead of wholesale replacements for just one match, would like to see alternative pairings that we could then use in major games, such us:

    1. Trying Fred - DvB pairing
    2. Trying Bailly - Lindelof pairing instead of playing Maguire.

Lingard-Elanga is fine as well. As for Martial, it's not an interesting experiment but if we are keeping him and he needs some game-time for fitness, sure, maybe he can play half the game.

One or two changes at most. The players need time out on the pitch to get used to the new system.

That would be be absurd. That’s what training is for.

This is one of the few chances for a week’s recovery this month. Everyone in his short term plans should be rested.

Neither jones or Hannibal can play. Although not confirmed I think lingard and martial are on the way out following omission today, despite what Rangnick says.

    HENDO

    AWB BAILLY MAGUIRE SHAW

    MATIC DVB

    BRUNO

    GREENWOOD CAVANI ELANGA

Subs: Sancho,, Amad, telles, rashford, Lindelof, Heaton, Fred,

Ronnie will want to play this, isn’t he on to the record for goal scoring in a group stage?

Not saying he’s going to play.

Interesting one this. Does Ralf play the kids/fringe players, or does he use the opportunity to build familiarity with his tactics?

Think it will be a mix personally. I'd love to see a whole XI of fringe players we never get to see, but it's important the players get used to the new style.

Best thing would be to play a strong team so the players get used to the new tactics in a easy game.
I think having more time on the training pitch is more important than playing this game. Play as many reserves as possible and give them 90mins. Lingard, VDB, Martial, Greenwood and Matic could all do with match fitness.

Rotate heavily. Use all 5 subs. Make it an opportunity to train players on the new system, and also increase fitness levels for players without much game time.

You can’t simply not prepare for a first team game, so the training will be geared for the Young Boys game whoever he picks.
I think it was Smaling who said when Utd reached the Europa League Final under Mourhino, the manager wrote off the last few games and all the training was based on the game against Ajax.

Surely if you want the players to get used to the tactics it would be better to have the first team train on Wednesday and Thursday instead of having any involvement with the game at all.

We're playing after that on Saturday.

Most of the team that played against Palace will need a break.
