We are paying Rojo more than 100K and he doesn't even play for the club. new TV deal means all the contracts will be bigger than before. Even Lovren is getting around 140K if I'm not wrong.

Whilst I don’t like the mega bucks players get paid, I understand that if the club are willing to pay it they can afford it and I think Rashford is worth it. He’s shown in 3 years that he has the talent to be one of the best forwards in the country, he has a great record considering his age and is a key player at national level. Personally think he’s worth more to be honest.

The problem is the precedent we've set. Shaw is reportedly now on 130K or higher, Lukaku on 200K or higher, Alexis on 300K or higher and Jesse earning somewhere between 130-150K according to reports.

I'd be surprised if Rashford's new deal, when it is eventually agreed, comes much under 200K a week.

Our elite players right now are De Gea, Pogba, Rashford, and to a lesser extent Martial. Our top paid players are Sanchez, Pogba, Lukaku (12m according to Football Leaks book), De Gea (10m - 12m), then Matic or Martial, Mata (7.5 - 8).

We are currently paying Lukaku 12m with the possibility of more if he hits difficult goals and assists targets, based on a season for Everton in which he managed a non-penalty goal or assist every 100 mins in the PL. Sanchez's best season for Arsenal, again a non-penalty goal or assist every 100 mins in the PL. Right now, Rashford is matching that goal or assist every 100 mins in the PL, despite a slow start to the season.

Yeah, Dembele, De Jong, Mbappe is on 200K+ . Brahim Diaz is on 60K with few apps, 10K more than Rashford right now. I would expect Rashford's base to be 100K with 50K+ bonus

The Ducker article mentioned in the OP, states that Martial's new deal is for about 200K a week, in which case, Rashford's agent would be crazy to expect anything less.

United might be wise to figure out who their medium to long term, starting striker is going to be, before agreeing Rashford's new contract.

I believe Harry Kane is earning 200K inclusive. If Martial is earning 150+50K then obviously Rashford deserve 150K inclusive.

Quite true. Rashford shows potential, as does Martial, but I'm not sure these players would get such lucrative deals at other clubs so soon. We have to strike a balance in keeping them at the club and not being arm-twisted into overpaying for it.

I guess this is part of the "structural problems", to borrow a phrase from Mourinho.

EDIT: In retrospect, if the 150K is inclusive of bonuses, it's ok I guess.

Because were not just talking about wages for next year, we're talking about wages in 5 years time. You have to remember, we could simply put him on 150k and let that fecker run down while he could turn into a world beater and get 3 times that elsewhere.

If Rashford fulfills his potential, 150k/week is a small price to pay. He'd start at most premier league clubs (including Liverpool in my opinion). We paid 75M for Lukaku. Over a 5 year contract that's an extra 300k per week.

£500k/week: Lukaku cost over 5 years (transfer + wages)
£150k/week: Rashford cost over 5 years.

Without much searching Telegraph reported Kroos earns 20 million pounds per year which is around 350K
