Up to 10 goals and 13 assists for the season.

Knew he was missing as soon as he stood up

He's got 16 assists this season and 13 goals. He was poor today and maybe he is overrated to you, that's fair enough, but he's a fantastic player and he's had a great season.

Yeah it was a shit pen, it happens. I've seen Ronaldo and Messi take them just as crap and they're arguably better than Money Mase.

Just comes across as such a bland footballer, though that may just be because of his haircut, name and face

When i was a kid Zico missed a penalty in the world cup 1986 and adults had a hard time to convince me he was not overrated.

So inevitable he'd miss when the nobber commentators were saying he has had his problems with taking pens

Killer that was after celebrating the Mane miss.

He's one of those players you think is criminally overrated yet still seems to get good assists and goal records.

He’s a good player, still think though because of the nature of his best position being on the wide left, he’s still upgradable because there are other players who offer more as wide forwards.

Imagine Chelsea with Vinicius Jr for example.

I'll never get on someone's back for missing a pen in a shootout.

Good player. Hasn't really worked in an England shirt in my opinion, but he's had a solid season.

Foden, Grealish, JWP all better and more complete players. Even though Southgate was watching he’ll still pick Mount probably.

Yeah, he's a decent player and more importantly a consistent one.

Yeah it’s weird. Mount had a decent game overall.
He was a bit underwhelming for me today but he still created two very good chances, and has probably been our most consistent midfielder/attacker this season.

Think he will be better with a better striker in front of him too.

He's a good player that should have better players in front of him in the first team.

The Danny Murphy metric.

Agree. But we get him shoehorned by the British media every time there is a discussion on best young player in the world

His penalty record in shootouts seems bad. Hope he doesn’t end up in the position to take one for England. That said he was one of Chelsea’s better players on the day. If he had better players than Pulisic and Lukaku in front of him he could‘ve ended up with the assist to win the game.

I guess it’s the nature of the beast that he’s getting all the stick whilst every one has forgotten that Mane and Azpi missed penalties too.

Out of Chelsea's English players, if you were offered him or Reece James, nearly everyone would opt for having James in their team.

He just comes across as a hype job because he's a fresh-faced English lad and he's from Landahn; but admittedly he's better than that as his stats show and as the highlight reel snippets half-suggest.

But whenever I've seen him play he has just run around a lot and fallen over, and then fluffed whatever chances he has had or played it backwards, as if lacking natural playmaking ability. He has not disgraced himself, but neither has he shown the capacity to influence games or perform when the chips are down. Personally speaking, I would have chosen Ziyech ahead of him, but managers love Mason Mount because he does cover a lot of grass and work his socks off.

I know we've had several players here whom we have raved about but whom opposition fans have never rated. Mount looks to be the same. A bit of a Park Ji-Sung, a defensive ten. The truth's probably somewhere in between and he's neither as good as Chelsea fans think or as bad as we're saying now.

Plenty of top players have missed big-time penalties.

Congratulations on an incredibly dumb, knee-jerk post.

Foden, Grealish, JWP all better and more complete players. Even though Southgate was watching he’ll still pick Mount probably.
Foden is unarguably more talented yes, it's debatable whether he's as 'complete' a player though.

He's a much better player than both Ward-Prowse and Grealish.

If Mount was playing for another team and Chelsea were offered a chance to sign him, I honestly think they wouldn't do it.
You don't win leagues with Mount in your starting 11. Hes that awkward youth player that's an undoubted success and is just too good to replace with a big signing but just not good enough to play for a side who can consistently win the league.
He is their Coutinho or even Rashford is a better example.

He is destined to be one of those players that gets unnecessarily overrated by the media and then grossly underrated by oppo fans.

Some people on here loved to mock the Scousers "boom-bust-cycle" but over the years following how things go with English players in the press it sometimes feels like this whole cycle isn't something specific to the Scouse but to all of England.
