Massimiliano Allegri has been learning English as the former Juventus and Milan manager targets a new role in the Premier League, with the Italian understood to be keen on taking over from Ole Gunnar Solskjær should Manchester United sack the Norwegian.

Allegri, who left Juventus at the end of last season after winning a fifth consecutive Serie A title, attended Tottenham’s Champions League fixture against Bayern Munich on Tuesday night and has been sounded out by several English clubs over the possibility of moving to the Premier League in the future. In particular, the 52-year-old is believed to have identified United as a potential employer should United decide to part company with Solskjær after the club made its worst start to a league campaign for 30 years.

At this stage, it is understood that United have no intention of sacking a manager who signed a three-year contract in March but Allegri is expected to be on a two or three-man shortlist should they take action in the near future.

Despite his departure, the former midfielder is still contractually tied to Juventus until 2020 but that is unlikely to affect any potential move to Old Trafford, with Allegri thought to be willing to take the job even if United do not qualify for next season’s Champions League.

Better than Ole but not convinced. His football is dire and winning the league a million times with Juventus is nothing special

It would just be flip flopping back to another style of manager that we supposedly do t want, that said Ole isn’t playing progressive football.

He’d make us a lot better short term though.

We could do a lot worse than Allegri, to be honest though I don't even know who'd be any good for us anymore. He plays shit football but it seems like basically any manager we sign plays shit football, least he gets results.

It would be ridiculously dumb to continue flip flopping between styles of play.

Not the type of manager I'd want going forward, but he could salvage the season and get us into the top 4.

Re-asses at the end of the season then.

Though our board aren't this proactive.

Eh this was the logic with Jose, look how that went. I won't settle for shit football that "gets results", I want us to be entertaining again, and not horrible.

Yeah and if he does well he'll get the job, just like what happened with Ole. What could go wrong.

How does he compare to Mourinho in terms of his style of football?

He got results because his team had unbelievable quality. I will never believe he would do well here with this squad and our current owners and just the overall setup at the club. Juve have a great foundation.

Meh, although an obviously superior manager to Ole I would rather we wait for the summer and get someone younger, with a more interesting vision in.
Allegri isn’t a patch on Klopp or Pep imho, we need someone who’ll be up there when one of them or both leave City or Pool for other destination.
As much as I’ve criticized Ole over the last couple of days, The thought of Allegri really doesn’t fill me with neither hope nor joy.

Jose>LvG>Allegri imho

We will be near the relegation places after the end of this month if Ole is still here. Of course they are planning to replace him.

A meticulous trainer oh yeah! :D

Benvenuto Allegri!

Would not be near my first choice to replace Ole. His football isn't suited to our club and I don't think he is that good anyway, Conte was the genius behind Juve's rejuvenation, Allegri just came in and ran with it.

He is clearly a far more accomplished manager than Ole but the next manager has to bring on the team and develop the style of football not tear it up.
