Ah he definitely seems a bit off in some of these posts :

I saw something on Instagram earlier, which I now can't find as their algorithm is a nightmare, that said that the final chapter of his memoir was titled 'Batman' and there was a short quote from it, which certainly read like someone who had had enough.

Not to make it about me but the thing I hate about getting older myself is the creeping feeling of mortality as you see these celebs from your childhood and twenties dropping off. Granted he was still very young to go, but still. Anyone else struggling with that?

Yep, it's a natural thing to feel.

His posting frequency on Instagram as well:

Eight in the last week, all kind of cryptic.
One 2 weeks ago.
Then loads around a year ago for promotion.
But the last personal stuff was close to 3 years ago.

So basically he's posted nothing personal for 3 years until the recent "Mattman" posts which link to the final chapter in his book as others have said (plus the hot tub, pickleball references).
Not too comfortable speculating so I'll leave it. Personally it gives me some comfort thinking maybe he'd made his peace.

what exactly am I missing about a bunch of Batman posts? He didn’t die crime fighting
There’s a few conspiracies going around - one regarding how the lead singer of the Cranberries also passed away by drowning and intoxication and how Matthew uploaded a video of cranberries (however I think they’re grapes).

He also posted on Twitter a couple of times just a few days before his death having not tweeted anything for nearly a year.. one of which has #mentalhealth tagged.

Whatever the reason it was definitely a cry for help. Very sad.. a celebrity death hasn’t hit me this hard since Robin Williams passed.

Probably the most a celebrity death has hit me. Grew up watching Friends every week, really was a cultural phenomenon in the 90s/early 2000's. I was 18 when it finished.

To me the 90's still seem like only 10 years ago and still fresh in the memory, makes you realise how old you actually are and how life is short when the people you grew up watching start passing away.

Yeah man, I feel exactly the same.

It’s no joke is it.

Yet, I get the feeling we’d be better off laughing at it all, if only we were culturally equipped to do so…

Poor guy. RIP.

Find it weird when people post about a celebrity death and talking about the loss of their character. They were a human aside from that character.

Yes, very much my mood of the last year as well. A lot of that was triggered by my mothers passing, but I had the creeping feeling the few years prior as well.

RIP Chandler. You brought me so much joy growing up

Credit to the writers who made his character have great lines, but more credit to the man for his amazing performances.

He, and the whole 'gang', made me laugh for 10 years each Friday night and I still watch the show laughing. Sadly I actually don't laugh that much out loud but this programme, loved it and the balance between the characters was just great and storylines too.

It was so sad to read about his struggles over the decades and happy to read how he overcame them - but I always felt, reading about his updates, he still struggled with life at times. I hope he's at peace now, all-be-it way too early, but thanks for the laughs!

RIP MP

Understand what you're saying, completely - but sometimes people connect to a character more than the person and it's the character they want to say goodbye in their own way perhaps?

It’s like when I watch only fools for example. Grew up on it and so many have passed now. In vicar of dibley, which my mum watched a load, the vicar is the only one who is still alive I think.

Getting that way with Harry Potter now too.

Exactly what my sister said when she called me about it. Robin's death hit me like a ton of bricks, absolute gem of a man.

I cooled a bit on Matthew Perry after his unnecessary comments on Keanu Reeves, but this made me realised that I still liked him deep down. Incredibly sad. He had so much talent as a comedic actor, an absolute joy to watch when he was on form. Hell, even the seasons he claims he doesn't even remember making was good.

Not struggling with it really. It's just the 40s/50s version of the late 20s/30s realisation that footballers are now younger than you.

"We are all so utterly devastated by the loss of Matthew. We were more than just cast mates. We are a family," their statement reads. "There is so much to say, but right now we’re going to take a moment to grieve and process this unfathomable loss."

"In time we will say more, as and when we are able," the statement continues. "For now, our thoughts and our love are with Matty’s family, his friends, and everyone who loved him around the world."

The message is then signed by Aniston, Cox, Kudrow, LeBlanc and Schwimmer.

Gutted, been binging Friends episodes the last couple of nights. Tough one to take, especially when you think someone has escaped the black dog and then they pass under a cloud. Saw the Friends reunion earlier and he was in a pretty bad way, such a crying shame.

The way the other Friends were speaking by saying stuff like "in time we will say more" makes me think that they may get together later down the road and make a video together honouring him or something. Maybe I'm just reaching but it'd be nice to see.

It isn't just deaths though, at the match on Sunday when the old time players came on, I didn't recognize Brian Kidd at first, in my head he was coaching at City until recently but he looks a seriously old man, also took me a moment to take in John Aston

RIP.

I always find it a bit... I don't even know what to say. Maybe sad but weirded out at the same time that most of the famous people are actually great and often charming personas on TV screen. Which means they have it in them to be an interesting person in real life (after all it's not easy to perform a role extremely well while being watched by millions), compared to average people who lack charisma and social skills no matter how hard they try. And yet instead of seeing those good traits in real life, not a few of them actually live a very depressing life which leads to addiction that makes everything worse.

It's a very contradictory life.

Last few posts were very ominous indeed.. either a huge cry for help or like you say he’d already come to terms with it. Huge shame either way.

RIP Matthew :(
Probably neither. The journalist who met him the previous day said that he was in a great light hearted mood. Also that he was interested in a biopic about himself and his struggles / journey. Maybe he wanted to call that Mattman? feck knows. But it seems to be an unfortunate death rather than anything sinister or suicidal.
