"According to RMC Sport, Mamadou Sakho has been suspended by Liverpool after some doping tests for using a fat burner.

Sakho did not know the composition of the fat burner, which he took in a purely personal and therapeutic interest to remove fat. (RMC Sport)

Sakho has been suspended pending further investigations. He is very affected by the news & intends to prove his good faith. (RMC Sport)

Mamadou Sakho is considered a great professional in Liverpool & the club hopes to help in these efforts to prove his good faith. (RMC Sport)"

Apparently he took a fat burning drug, similar to one Kolo Toure took, and then got banned for taking, whilst he was at City.

Should probably be relegated as a punishment. Drugs have no place in football.

Dear God this is terrible news, they might bring in an actual centreback to replace him.

Kolo Toure is a good influence.

Yesterday, Friday 22nd April 2016, a formal communication was received from UEFA stating that they are investigating a possible anti-doping rule violation by Mamadou Sakho.

The player will respond to UEFA on the matter.

The player is currently not subject to any playing suspension. However, the club, in consultation with the player, has decided that while this process is followed the player will not be available for selection for matches.

There will be no further comment at this time.

HELLO
You'd think everything players consumed would need to be approved by the medical teams, there's too much to lose for players to be taking random supplements at their own discretion.

How long will that result in a ban for? How long was Kolo banned for?
EDIT: Seen the statement.

The winner vs Dortmund should really be cancelled. Cheating twat.
I was thinking similar sometime back, say if someone playing a major role in a title campaign was found guilty, would they be taking the title off the team??

BBC reporting it was after the second leg against United. If so, why was he allowed to continue playing, even scoring a crucial goal in the next round of the competition?

If that's true then action needs taking against the club.

Amusing that RAWK are using the racism defence to defend their defender.
