Messi will likely win his 7th Ballon D’Or soon. Ronaldo won’t sniff it this year.

Ronaldo will then need two more to match the GOAT and three to surpass. He wont be able to do that.

So far this calendar year:
Messi - 33 goals, 14 assists in 38 matches. Copa del Rey title, Copa America title

Ronaldo - 27 goals, 4 assists in 40 matches. Supercoppa Italiano, Coppa Italia.

Ronaldo at 36 joining the best league in the world, for a club which hasn't won a single league title in 8 years, nor a trophy in past 4 years
vs
Messi at 34 joining the 5th league, for an oil club which is so far ahead if its competitors, and had won 22 trophies in past 7 years.
As if he had any other choice))

You do realise the only reason he's joining is because City rejected signing him, right?

Solid % bump for Ronaldo

Respect him for coming back to the PL and not going Ligue 1 or MLS though, I get there are only so many teams who can afford him but City wanted Messi and he wasn't interested.

The fact that he is back in the PL highlights what I always loved about him - he wants the best career and he will put himself in the hardest leagues to try and be successful as possible.

In the other side.. you have players joining PSG to be competitive. Leagues that had at max 2 other opponents, and certain leagues that arguably had 0.

Have fun playing in your second rate league Messi. Ronnie still wants the biggest challenge, that's the difference between them. Viva Ronaldo.

Feels like the battle of achievements on the pitch has ended and they're entering the final legacy mode. Ronaldo reportedly halving his salary returning to United (according to Ballbag) vs Messi leaving Barcelona after they wouldn't bankrupt themselves for him looks really good for Ronnie.

Is Ronaldo’s £480k a week wages at United not after tax then??

Which Premier League Clubs put an official offer on the table for Messi since it became clear he couldn’t stay at Barca?

just asking

Perfect preamble to a CL matchup...

Never voted in this, will keep it honest until he gets us to win the league again. Messi would.

I’m sure Messi wouldn’t have lacked suitors in the premier league. Especially if he followed Ronaldos example and dropped his salary.

You think anyone would turn him down for the same money as Ronaldo took. Anyway today is not the day for serious conversations.

So no Premier League offers then?

he went where he had an offer and was wanted

farmers League perhaps, but they were willing to pay and have a good standing for a CL, can hardly knock him for saying yea

these truly elite players don’t go looking to be wanted, they wait for offers from the few who can afford them and want them

In fairness it was widely reported by loads of outlets they'd made him a contract offer this summer. They tried the year before so not really a stretch to think they still wanted him for a position we know Pep isn't happy with Jesus for.
