Yeah I know... But hear me out
With his tax issues perhaps he would consider going?
His €250m buy out clause is around £200m still a lot of money but when you think we have an option of £50m for falcao it's basically £150m more for messi... But how much more in commercial deals would messi bring in over the course of a contract (I would guess a decent chunk of money plus would existing sponsors even chip in a bit to get him there?)
Yeah it probably won't happen but perhaps financially it is not unachievable and with his tax problems perhaps there is a possibility he would leave?
feck it i say and give it a go nothing ventured and all that

There's a fair bit of noise about him leaving Spain, and City sniffing around. Hijacking that like we did Falcao would be the funniest thing ever to happen, would complete a fine trilogy - Berbatov... Falcao... Messi!

Not gonna happen though, obviously.

No thanks. For Messi to fit in we would need to build a team around him. That would mean wasting a lot of the attacking talent we currently have. What would happen to Rooney, Robin, Wilson, Mata etc? At the moment we are more in need of a Ronaldo than a Messi. Would love Ronaldo to come back and finish his career at OT.

Did...did someone just reject Messi? I'd throw Rooney, RvP, Wilson and Mata in the ocean if it would mean that we would get Messi

Really? Poor Mata might struggle to get in the team if Messi came? We couldn't be having that

We, or any other club, won't spend 200m pounds on a player. Though if he was available for half of that price, it would have been a very good deal.

There would be no loss on them sitting on the bench, plenty of space on it and if they weren't happy with that well then Good luck lads.

If Messi was there to be got how in the hell could he be turned down if given the chance to get him?

No, cause we'd have to build a team around him????

You forgot Henriquez. What about him? Naah, defo No to Messi.

For Messi ? Robin and Mata can go.

And Messi would be a problem but not Ronaldo, when Messi is more versatile ?

I am not sure he would be a good signing. For the amount we would have to pay for him and there are little signs that he is on the wane. I appreciate that not many people will have spotted these yet.

that's like saying "no thanks" to a Ferrari because to make it space in the garage you`ll have to sell the toyota

Ok, this is a good thread

On more serious note, why would Barca and Messi both agree to this deal? You do know that elections are coming up. For those who are not interested in Barca; elections and politics play a vital role. Do you think any president would like to be called "guy-who-sold-messi"? Think about it.

It not a question whether United can buy, it's rather Barca would (or could) sell or not.

BTW, here's a quick summary of Barca finances. We are doing fine, no need a sell any player.

£200 Million for a 28 year old? That is never going to happen, nor would i want it to no matter how good he is. No club is paying that for him if he leaves, i could maybe see £100m at a stretch but even then its a big risk for a player who looks like he might be in decline.

Those finances look worryingly flat to me. What is the dark blue? It's the only thing stopping your income from going down!

You can be worried, it's the transfers.

Yeah, Barca don't need to sell players because they are in a very healthy financial situation due to all the players they sell.

In all seriousness though this is never gonna happen in a million years obviously.

We would finally get to see if he could do it on a cold night in Stoke. That alone must be worth about £50m.

Why would messi or barca agree the move...
Well if the buy out clause is hit then isn't it just up to messi.
You know messi... The one with tax issues

You don't want to look at his buy out clause.

You know messi... The one with tax issues

You make no sense at all. He has tax issues, and changing his playground won't solve that. What sort of ridiculous logic is that? Do you think him living in UK will remove all pending cases against him?

Just because there's a clause it doesn't mean we have to pay it, he's 28 years old with no resale value, we shouldn't go over 80m even for jesus.

If we try to be serious, paying is transfer fee and his astronomical wage would be impossible.

No, he is amazing and can produce world class performances every match in N10, on the wing and as a striker, but Barca would never, ever sell (except, maybe, when he becomes 36 years old). And even if they did, no matter how good Messi is, 200 million for a player is just not worth it, no matter which player that is.

I have a felling this will end up similar to - http://forums.bluemoon-mcfc.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=301781

I thought people in cafe were more rational compared to RAWK/bluemoon.

I'm sorry mate, but I think most people here agree that we won't sign him in a million years. It's cool to dream though. On Bluemoon they actually think they can sign him.

Can't see us signing Ronaldo or Messi, which is probably a good thing given how much they would cost.

Doubt anyone could afford that without busting their FFP numbers, which is why I think he will stay at Barca. We could probably afford it and still be safe, but would have to sell several players to make room.
