Won't get my hopes up here.

If I'm being honest, I don't really want us to sign him that much, it's just that I'd prefer Liverpool not to!

Really good player, but I wonder if he's a positive fit for United. We need to transition away from 4-2-3-1 to get the best out of Pogba on a consistent basis - which means no #10/seconda punta berth for Fékir - so that's his primary position(s) ruled out, as a drifting central midfielder in a 4-3-3 he's not the most symbiotic fit with Pogba considering they are both offensively oriented (Fékir more so than Pogba) and have some overlapping tendencies in terms of dribbling and ball-dominance, and as a right sided attacker in a 4-3-3 (mirroring Alexis on the left) he's less than ideal in terms of dynamism and being a natural wide attacker to be a seamless fit for the Premier League — so you'll have compounded issues in terms of the overall balance of the team. Potentially fantastic in either a diamond as a trequarista, or Ancelotti's trademark Christmas Tree setup...

LAM: Sánchez
RAM: Fékir

But José will have to completely refurbish the flanks (and make them an area of strength for the team) to make it work, and you could argue that even in this - someone along the lines of a Douglas Costa would be a better addition to the team.
I made the exact point in the twitter thread and was told that Fekir and Pogba can co-exist in a midfield 3 and Fekir is a defensive "beast".

He isn't a defensive beast, no attacking player at Lyon are defensive beasts.

A part of me would much prefer a natural wide man who cuts in from the right, rather than a central attacking midfielder who drifts out to the right. Mind you there aren't many Robbens about in the world.

I think the day of wingers who ran along the white lines is probably gone, in 4231 and 433, the striker requires the support of the wide attackers, so they tend to drift inwards. If we get someone like him, we desperately need 2 proper attacking fullbacks.

Sigh, another scenario where we'd be replacing a better player with a lesser one (involving Martial again).

Can't see him fitting well in our team to be honest. Neither I'm sold on him going to Liverpool — they won't play with him as a #10 and a Firmino-Salah-Mane front three

Not sure the fuss about him

Will he start for France in the WC anyway? I guess i can take a closer look at him if he does

Nope. They have an abundance of quality players both in attack and midfield for a few available positions — Griezmann, Mbappe, Dembele, Martial (who won't start), Giroud (will probably start), Pogba, Kante, Matuidi, Lemar, Tolisso...

Well, if you click on the link you can see that sport witness only talks about an article from tuttosport.
That’s what SW does isn’t it? Writes about the probability of other papers rumours?
Anyways, I have no idea how reliable tuttosport is, but hope we’re after him.
No I didnt mean it like that, what I meant was they usually kill a good transfer rumor in its infancy so we rarely get to indulge in our natural muppet inclinations

He currently plays as a 10 and drifts wide to the right but has played on the right before many times. can play anywhere across the attack really.

So can Sanchez - allegedly !!

We need a 101%, all-out, no messing about RW....We have done since Beckham left, with all due respect to Tony V.

But who ??

I still think Mahrez to be fair, he's perhaps not a traditional winger but like Salah he makes good runs in behind and in between defenders. He can deliver a good cross when needed and hopefully we get a Rafael like full back who provides attacking sense to support him

I am ok with replacing Lazy Fekir (Martial) with Nabil Fekir. Not as bad as Martial-Willian swap for instance.

Amazing player but I prefer Eriksen over him. However, we need a winger not a CAM.

 To be fair, he's quite multifaceted and not a complete and utter liability in defensive terms, but yeah...light years away from “beast” status - that classification should be strictly reserved for the likes of Willian, Blaszczykowski or Müller - who are (or were) incessant pressers and almost tangible assets in the defensive phase.

His dad denied the reports of a deal agreed.

“I heard that there are negotiations, stuff like that, and I was surprised,” said Fekir’s father. “I can deny this—it’s not true. If it was Nabil would have told me right away as we are very close. His dream is to play in the Champions League with his boyhood club.”

If you ask me, he's looking for a move, especially if Lyon miss out on CL.
He would be happy to move to any big club and this could easily be his agent trying to stir up some interest.
And just to feed the muppets :
"Playing for Manchester United one day? Why not. it's a club that makes you dream, but we're not there yet,” said Fekir.

“The need to have a good season at Lyon comes first, and then, we'll see.”

So what I'm saying is he looking for a move and if we want him, we can have him.
But looks like Pool have already agreed a deal with him/Lyon.

Classic Caf

The majority of people losing their minds that he might be going to Liverpool and throwing their toys out of the pram probably:

a) Have never seen him play more than a handful of times,
b) Would rather see us shoehorn a player into a ridiculous line-up rather than see him go to a rival,
c) Are pissed off that he has a fancy name and we may be signing a fella called Fred.

All classic symptoms of spoilt brat syndrome. Their toys are never good enough. The number of posts I saw moaning "why do we never sign players like this" when you only have to look at our team to see where we've been going wrong in the past few transfer windows.

I bet he wouldn't be this highly regarded if Liverpool weren't linked so strongly with him recently. They look at the Liverpool signings (more specifically Salah and VVD), and then look at Keita and Fekir and automatically assume they'll have the same impact and be world class.

I'm not against us signing someone like him if he actually fits into the team, not just signing him for the sake of it or so that our rivals don't get him. We also need more credible sources before we start making fancy formations.

Anyway, our team clearly has other priorities, I can't see this one happening.

Remember he was terrible for Newcastle and rocked up to a game wearing a tux and looked like a right prick.
Yeah he barely had a kick for Newcastle and didnt do anything when he did.

But this season he's been flying, playing on the right wing each week and thats clearly the only place in attack that we require an upgrade. Fekir might be able to do that job too, but considering with our pool of talent we have such lopsided options, both Marial and Rashford trying to compete with Sanchez on the left but barely any options of any player who plays best on the right, I'd prefer we sign someone who is playing that position every week rather than signing someone who isnt playing right wing and hoping for the best.

Isnt Fekir more of an in the hole player? And when we use Lingard there we dont have 3 CMs, which is when our CM doesnt look very good.

I’d imagine tuttosport would be alright for Italian stuff not so much French players moving to English clubs

I checked Tuttosport and couldn't find any references to Fekir and United. Go figure.

---Sanchez-Lukaku---
Pogba-Matic-CM-Fekir

would be interesting, as would:

-Sanchez-Lukaku
------Fekir--------
Pogba-Matic-CM--

or even just the simplest:

-------Lukaku------
-Sanchez-Fekir-----
Pogba-Matic-CM--

As hung up as we are on positions/tactics, we really do need quality, and Fekir might be able to provide that, and we could always sign a proper attacking RB to give us width on that flank, and just have the LB play a bit more conservatively.

Spurs don't look too bad with Eriksen out wide even when they play 4 at the back.

I think Fekir would be great at #10 in Mourinho's favored 4-2-3-1 scheme. Mou plays that scheme a lot and without a quality #10 the results have been inconsistent at best. Maybe Fekir is the key to making Mou's 4-2-3-1 scheme work consistently well against all opponents regardless of the opponents perceived strengths and weaknesses. I think confidence and consistency would improve if Mourinho had his team play and practice using his favorite scheme all the time. And a good left footed set piece specialist would be pretty hand too.

Meh, couldn’t care if we got him or not.

Seems like a Mata replacement if anything and not a proper RW so yea.

They don't report news, they just translate news from foreign papers. Sometimes they will also tell whether the story is reliable or not based on paper, journalists and his connections with agents.

Tuttosport are a pretty crappy source but Fekir would be a very good signing. A player like him in the team would make the 4-2-3-1 work.
