Nani could still probably do a better job than some of our current players
This exactly - unfortunately just incompetence from a ref. Can only assume the ref isn't fit for professional football because how he went to the VAR and reached that conclusion is criminal (the on field decision is a bad decision but not that crazy) because it's clear and obvious that it's not even a foul.Just read that it was rescinded after a review panel checked it. This is more a referee issue than a VAR issue, how he can review the same footage and come to a completely different conclusion to an independent panel is shocking, could almost assume some corruption
As hard as it is to top that one, I think this one is worse. Absolute disgrace.I haven’t seen this new one but I know it won’t be as bad as the one against Madrid.
I still feel the urge to throw things violently whenever I think about that Turkish ref.
Imagine this kind of transparency with the refereeing in the PL. Just imagine. The referee organisation in America produce a short video each week where they play some audio clips and comment on some decisions. The Nani one is discussed at 3.57 in the latest video (I'm not allowed to post media yet but if you search Inside Video Review on Youtube and go to the most recent one you should find it.)
The view of the referee organisation was a red card was incorrect.

I have no idea why the PL don't release a video like that every week.At 03'57 sec

Still haven't seen it but it can't outweigh the importance of that Madrid game, Champions League knockout stage compared to an MLS game (no disrespect to the MLS like.)As hard as it is to top that one, I think this one is worse. Absolute disgrace.
From that perspective I can agree. See that game through and we'd probably have another CL. From a refereeing perspective this one is weird, especially given that VAR was used.Still haven't seen it but it can't outweigh the importance of that Madrid game, Champions League knockout stage compared to an MLS game (no disrespect to the MLS like.)
Video clearly shows it's dangerous play. Red card is correct. At 03'57 sec

Yeah just updated my last post, I don't think it's as bad as the Madrid one as the follow through connects with the players ankle but with the use of VAR there is absolutely no reason to send him off. From that perspective I can agree. See that game through and we'd probably have another CL. From a refereeing perspective this one is weird, especially given that VAR was used.
Would love to see that. Fans would eat it up. How did that last review not end up a broken leg or torn ligaments?Imagine this kind of transparency with the refereeing in the PL. Just imagine.
Why did the ref have to deliver the red card like such an arrogant tw*t? It must drive players mad when they do that and then point to the sideline and refuse to engage with you.I don’t understand the issue.
that is a possible red card and the ref made the decision he made.
Whether VAR is used correctly is another matter entirely but I’m not shocked by the final decision
Oh for the love of God...Video clearly shows it's dangerous play. Red card is correct.

I have no idea and don’t care. Why did the ref have to deliver the red card like such an arrogant tw*t? It must drive players mad when they do that and then point to the sideline and refuse to engage with you.
I'll allow this as I know that opticians aren't doing close proximity eye tests due to covid.from a challenge that actually warranted a straight red).
Interesting video and sums it up well - ref didn't use any context to look at how much 'force' was applied, electing only to judge the tackle based on a still image/slow-mo.At 03'57 sec

I think your post is mad.Honestly I think he deserved a 2nd yellow based on the constant yapping at the referee off the back of the yellow card (from a challenge that actually warranted a straight red).
I don't think its a red, but its not a million miles off is it?I'll allow this as I know that opticians aren't doing close proximity eye tests due to covid.

Potential ankle breaker. Dangerous and slightly wreckless play. Easy red. Not my fault you boys are blind.I think your post is mad.
I understand how bad that picture looks, but that picture is after Nani had gotten the ball first. He didn't even lunge in with force or anything. Its a soft yellow in my opinion but no way a red.
Ah right, so as long as you get the ball first you can be as wreckless as you like?I understand how bad that picture looks, but that picture is after Nani had gotten the ball first. He didn't even lunge in with force or anything. Its a soft yellow in my opinion but no way a red.
This is definitely a thing, but you also don’t see referees in other sports make such bad decisions so regularly. Referee attitudes should change too.I’m also fed up of seeing footballers completely disregard the referee’s authority. You don’t see it in any other professional sport. Referee needs to be more willing with showing cards for persistent yapping.
Are you a referee?I’m also fed up of seeing footballers completely disregard the referee’s authority. You don’t see it in any other professional sport. Referee needs to be more willing with showing cards for persistent yapping.
The thing is if we'd stop frame every 50-50, there'd be plenty of ground to book people right and left.Potential ankle breaker. Dangerous and slightly wreckless play. Easy red. Not my fault you boys are blind.
