He's totally finished, I'm not sure he's even PL level anymore. Anyone who plays next to him is going to look lost in midfield too. Happened a bit last season but this is against a terrible Milan side and they're running him in circles.

The one thing that he seemed to have going for him was that when he had the ball he would keep the ball before making a successful pass. He might have taken an age to release it, but he didn't lose it.

Well, he's lost that by the looks of it.

Yet more proof that DM will be our undoing this season.

Didn't Inter want him? They can have him as a consolation for not getting Lukaku.

He's looked the same since about 2 months after we signed him. Was equally shite at Chelsea in that last season. Said it at the time but such a dumb signing. Replaced our POTS with an inferior, older player and that led to Herrera deciding to leave on a free while Matic is there barely moving.

So off the pace it’s not even funny. The body can’t do what the mind is telling it any more, it’s just all too slow

Ridiculous stuff from the club, to oversee our midfield in such a state after letting two players go. The same old inept bullshit, nothing will change next season.

For a team that wants to build from the back Matic is an easy target for the opposition. We need a much better ball player at #6.

Lack of communication is obvious and totally unacceptable at this level. A lot of these ball losses could be avoided by Matic and everyone else.

My fear too. It's all well and good spending £80m on a CB who is comfortable playing out from the back, but if the ball is going to Matic we'd be shooting ourselves in the foot.

Him in front of Lindelof and Maguire is a recipe for disaster

If we play out from the back and he receives the ball near his own box were screwed, twice in that half and twice the other night in Norway he gives it away. We will concede load of goals cuz of it. Not good enough and too slow to release the ball and get about the midfield.

The thought of Matic turning like a steamliner trying to cover for our CBs is something we shouldn’t have to endure again this season.

He offers nothing. You can [somewhat] forgive a man losing his legs when he raises the performances of those around him with his leadership, technique etc. but he honestly offers nothing.

Sooner he & Mata go & lift the Chelsea curse the better.

Give him away for free, can’t be anywhere near our team next season he’s done.

Wherever Jose ends up hopefully he comes in for Matic.

He should have some pride and do what Ibra did in his last season with us - tell the manager that he isn't up to speed and can't play like he used to anymore.

Was hoping he could recharge his batteries but it's not looking good.

Finally rest of the world is feeling the things I've been feeling about him since we signed him. Sure he was semi decent in first season with us. But he's been semi decent even since then. Against average teams, he can give a 7 out of 10. But what's absolutely infuriating is he vanishes consistently in biggest games against simply slightly more competitiveness, but that's not the worst, worst is like Rooney six years into finished, he has absolutely no self awareness. He thinks he is alright and unless manager and fans boo him every week, you can see that he is happy to just be that level. And praises himself for being experienced. It's sickening how we can't say no thanks to this tool midway, but we were a club that could axe keano midway into his legacy.

If Matic starts any game this season, it may mean only one thing: sabotage

Even Erik Djemba-Djemba was a better player than this ...

The worst part is he will start against Chelsea. Our biggest priority shoud have been a DM this summer, can only hope that McTominay can do enough to dislodge him.

I guarantee he will - Chelsea most likely.

If we’re getting rid of Lukaku due to his inability to chase, press and run, why are we keeping this guy?!

I’m totally in favour of ditching Lukaku by the way, but I think Matic should have been shown the door this summer too.

It is a suicide. He is the worst DM in the league now, as it is simply impossible to play worse
I don't think it's quite that bad but he is a liability.

Nice and cultured on the ball and usually reads the game well but any small mistake is always fatal and usually punished due to his glacial movement. Never very comfortable watching him take the ball off the CBs.

Any central attacker with a bit of mobility will side step him and leave him for dead, like we saw in the first half against AC Milan.

It's absolutely imperative we bring someone in before the window closes. Our midfield is looking pretty shit right now and it's even worse without Pogba. Signing a #6 with good composure and passing ability would be even more beneficial to our first 11 than signing the likes of Dybala or Fernandes IMO.

I personally hope we make a concerted effort for Longstaff. He could provide the composure and passing from the deeper role, and would add mobility and high energy due to his ridiculously high endurance levels.

How does he look people in the eye in the locker room? It’s actually embarrassing to lace up and go out and be a clown like that
