Netflix

It's the future of television. Especially releasing all the episodes of a new TV Show at once, watching week by week just isn't the same for me.
Disagree. The watercooler conversation has been eliminated. Also, there's the constant worry of spoiling.

Anyone got any recommendations for something to watch on either the US or UK services for me?

Basically, I feel like I've seen a lot of the content which is on Netflix, but I know I haven't even nearly seen all of it and wondered if anyone could suggest something I haven't seen yet.

What do people think are the "best" films in either region?

I don't actually watch that many movies, I use it more for tv series, in recent months I've watched all of Heroes, Alphas, Fringe, couple of seasons of 24, Bones and currently watching Breaking Bad.

I did watch Dredd the other day, but normally I end up watching films from a few years ago that I haven't seen in ages, for example I watched Event Horizon, Desperado & The Recruit last week. Most new films I already have, normally because my NAS drive misbehaves and goes and visits some of those despicable sites we're all trying to get banned by itself and picks them up. It's disgraceful, I found it acquiring Wolrd War Z yesterday.

I hate when that happens; disgraceful torrent sites. Also your NAS drive just sounds irresponsible! I'd maybe look at changing it.

In truth I prefer TV shows too, but I don't really want to start another big one until Breaking Bad is finished. I've been considering the Walking Dead, Mad Men or maybe 24. Already watched Lost, Prison Break, House of Cards and some of Arrested Development. As an aside, I wasn't that impressed with AD - does it get better after the first 3/4 episodes?

AD is brilliant

you should definitely watch 24, the first 4 series were brilliant, then it started to decline slightly but its still worth watching

I found the last series of 24 was almost unwatchable it was that bad. Surprised they're meant to be bringing it back.

I just put "us Netflix uk Xbox" into YouTube and a 3 min video showed me what to change my DNS setting to. I now have access to the US library via my Xbox. So many more films and tv shows.

Is it really that easy? Has anyone done it on PS? Isn't it illegal?

Yep I've done it now, took ages to find a code that works though and I'm presuming they change pretty often. Can't believe Dexter isn't on the US Netflix but generally the films on it are brand new compared to those on UK ones. Mad Men is on the US one, so excited about that as I've never seen it. I will need to change it back to UK anyway tomorrow to watch Breaking Bad as the US one isn't showing any of the recent ones.

You are basically me. I want BB to finish before I really get my teeth into another one of the big ones. I've started watching House of Cards, but it's not really my thing. Also watched a few of Arrested Development and think it's really good. You can easily get through 7 or 8 episodes of that in an evening. I was thinking about 24 and Prison Break as I've never seen either, but there's about a trillion episodes of each so it will take me an eternity to watch them all.

Mad Men is the one I've heard good things about so that'll be my first one after BB.

(Netflix Region, if needed)

Drama: Justified (US), Walking Dead (US), Dexter (UK), House of Cards, Sherlock, Luther, Orange is the New Black, House of Cards, West Wing,
Comedy: Parks and Recreation (US), Office (US), The [American] Office, Peep Show, Scrubs, IT Crowd, Archer

Also Top Gear is on both, and is always an easy watch.

Damn.. I read 'films' after compiling that list, but I do know that; Drive, Reservior Dogs, Memento, The Untouchables, Thor, End of Watch; are all on the US Netflix.

Thanks for that mate - appreciate it.

Guys, can anybody help me to access one of the Latin American Netflix? I want to watch the Shield and I believe it's on there unlike the US or UK one. I use the Media Hint plugin for Chrome to access the US content but I'm not sure how to get other alternatives.

Sign up for a free trial at unblock-us.com/ - I don't think you need any details but an email, no card or anything but could be wrong - maybe it's changed.

Then you get to pick which Netflix you want from all the regions, and it shows you how to set it up for whatever device you want to use (your PC I take it).

Cheers! Looks like I'll have to try and watch it all in a week

Tunlr are about to start charging, looks like $10 a month which doesn't sound bad. Any other recommendations for a service to obtain US netflix before I sign up with tunlr? To be fair their free service has been great and there was no way they could sustain the traffic they must of been getting without finding a revenue stream.

Want to watch a new TV show on Netflix but I'm not sure what's good. Google searches on the matter have confused things somewhat too.

Shows I've really enjoyed from Netflix: Stargate Atlantis/SG1/Universe, Firefly, Sherlock, Chuck, Red Dwarf, Black Books and the occasional movie.

Shows I couldn't get into (at all): Breaking Bad, Fringe, Dexter.

I'm a very, very, very picky viewer. But any views on the matter? I'm very picky but I'm willing to give most a go.

What are you watching on? Can you not just use an addon like Hola Unblocker, you can get the Canadian one as well then.

Oh, probably best then. The other is very good if you're mainly using a browser.

Justified is brilliant. Watch that.

Apple TV, iPad & iPhone. Tunlr is handy because I just point at their DNS and away I go.

So does tunlr give you access to netflix and hulu etc without you subscribing to them or does it just allow you to access netflix US if you're already a netflix UK subscriber?

The latter, UK library is ok for a while, but the US one is huuuuuuuge. For £6 a month I think it's a steal, even if I will now have to pay for Tunlr it'll be about £12 a month which is still a bargain IMO.

Sorry for being retarded on this now, so I'm a netflix subscriber. I sign up to tunlr and have access to Netflix US on my Smart TV? That would be awesome. Even if it was at a slightly bigger price. ie. paying for tunlr.

Yes, there are a few companies that offer the service, tunlr was free (currently still is if you have one of the free slots they gave out a few weeks back) but they are about to start charging.

I'll have to check it out. Might look into Hulu too. Thanks!

Inglourious Basterds on the Canadian version, wasn't impressed

I could do with a new DNS too. Does anyone know where I could find the requisite DNS. My current DNS doesn't seem to be the DNS I need.

Do you mean Hola Unblocker and the like? I'm not sure how it works on Firefox but it is very good on chrome.

On my PS3 I had to go in and change the DNS to get the American Netflix. What has that to do with proxy servers? Serious question!!

No you don't! Go back and look at the computer help thread that you posted in and where I explained to you what a DNS server is? You might be using a DNS that points you at a proxy server. Why not just point the PS3 at your PC and run your own proxy server connection instead of picking up dubious connections?
