But he's not asking for full control, word for word the Tweet above:
It sounds like he wants veto power, which I think it makes sense most of the time for a manager to have, except on maybe youth players.

I'd love to see RVP back here

but it's the type of appointment Ole would get a lot shit for, basically an ex United player with no coaching experience

But I think he could be a great link between ETH and the players, he's charismatic and a natural leader

I'd love him to turn us down just to see the reaction in this place.

Aye it would be class, club being worse off again, prob more years wasted, rival fans having another field day, media getting the knife in more...........be all worth it for the trolling online.

The difference is though ten Hag is bringing in experienced coaches like van der Gaag and McClaren. van Persie won't be given too much responsibility too soon. ten Hag is a teacher and he will love to have a young coach on his staff that he can develop.

And van Persie has some coaching experience. He's been an assistant coach at Feyenoord for the last two years. He also managed the u-16 team.

Trust me, I've seen far worse posts than that one.

ah that's good to know, Advocaat would be a pretty good manager to learn from I reckon

Ornstein literally said something to the same effect of nothing being officially announced until after their cup final

He needs to be given two seasons and proper backing in the market.

For next season, I'd dispense with the usual "top 4, or fired" stipulation that we seem to hold most managers to. As long as the side is showing progress in terms of playstyle, fitness, effort etc, we should give Ten Hag the time needed to complete the overhaul. It's not going to be a quick process and things may well get worse before they get better.

And Arne Slot has been doing a good job at Feyenoord and is very highly rated.

RVP already had experience working as a coach under 2 very different managers.

RVP joining us as a coach would cement him as a United legacy player despite spending almost a decade with Arsenal. I don't know why I find that so funny.

There is a difference in that Ten Hag himself is an upcoming coach who has the potential to be among the best. Already have made a name for himself in CL too.
Ole's problem was that he himself was not a good coach and then to employ rookie coaches. With Ten Hag and Shteve Mclaren they both have a lot of experience among themselves alone.

ETH with a back room of MVDG, McClaren and RVP, and Ralf as an advisor in the background sounds like the stuff of dreams.

Do it.

Cant believe anyone wants to come to United at this point. Very positive sign he wants to come and he wants a challenge. If RVP comes with him it will be even better. Along with his assistant and McLaren and Ragnick behind them. Sounds really, really good. Maybe even too good to be true.

BBC article about what Ten Hag can bring to United
It's a good article that, and he's really not exaggerating about not needing the ca$h, I was checking it out.
Those comments about Dutch Total Football, high defence lines, pretty much everything that we are not, it's going to lead to a lot of turnover! Not that it matters because if we stay like this, might as well give up.
RvP had better get his boots ready.

I bet the reported assurances were because of the higher profile names. No one is negotiating assurances over Mctominay. Anyone can drive those types to the airport. I also don't see a problem with giving him autonomy over outgoings. Back then if someone told you Pep would show more favour to Sterling (well known donkey at the time) than Aguero your jaw would drop in disbelief of how stupid the suggestion was. I'm certain someone's career here is already over.

Someone else said it best but our better half of the squad contain waaay too many specialists, limited footballers and passengers in open play that don't mesh with holistic football. One of the reasons I'm glad to go for a hardcore philosophist. They almost always cull the team at the top and ours badly need one. Our foundation is deceptively garbage.

I accept that he should be given a couple of seasons at least to get rid of this dross and get the type of players he wants.

It entails a lot of risk and you have to be a bit of a maniac to instil in your players that every pass has to be just right, that there can be no mistakes.
United squad in shambles.

The guy who played a pivotal role in our last title under Fergie. Imagine if he is part of the team who brings our first post Fergie title. He's already a legend in my book but that would seal the deal for everyone I think.

That's a shame, would have quite liked him back here.

Oh well, Schteve, RVP and that van der Gaag bloke it is then.
Was asked to become assistant at Ajax? Not United. That's how i read it
