Totally bizarre from Spurs if they give it to Mason full time. Why on earth would Harry Kane sign a new deal if Mason gets it?!!!

I can't for one second think he had his meeting with Levy a week ago and said Mason is the guy to get us back to cup finals and regular top 4, he'd have been expecting Poch returning or Nagalsmann being appointed.

Spurs will do very well to finish even 6th next season. So many issues in their team even without taking into account Kane's future.
At this point Spurs could bring in Pep and Harry Kane should still get out of this club. They're not spending anywhere close to what is needed for him to have a chance with that squad.

I'm genuinely surprised Spurs haven't made a big play for Ruben Amorim. Had two terrific games against them with Sporting in the CL, he's up and coming and he could get Marcus Edwards back and also a few other Sporting clube players who might want to leave.

Joao Paliniha would've been a great signing for Spurs last summer so the quality is there to improve them a little bit.
He is also currently fourth in a three team league. Apparently has a €20m release clause so that’s automatically a no from Levy anyway.

They have just given up on the season, by the looks of it.
Pretty much.

They're exactly like Man. United 12 months ago but perhaps there's still hope if they get a good manager in and sign well but there's so many holes in their squad that will take 3-4 transfer windows to properly sort out.

Red Card for Casemiro!

Didn't watch the game for obvious reasons, though I'll catch the highlights now. Were Villa good? Were Spurs bad? Bit of both?

Seems like Poch is going to Chelsea so expect Spurs to go for Arne Slot now, especially as it seems Nagelsmann is not an option.

We could've scored a few more than two but basically were just happy to hold onto 1-0 with minimum risk. And then do the same at 2-0.

Spurs hardly pressed and had one touch in our box in the whole of the first half.

Richarlison as CF was a disaster. I mean his best spells at Everton were always wide left but Son plays there so straight away there's issues regardless of Kane's future.

You aren't fixing that 11 in just one summer window so they'll be doing very well to even finish 6th next season with our improvement and Newcastle establishing themselves in top 4 now.

That sounds like a bit of both, then.

Just saw Villa are level on points, so if things work out last couple of games you folks could finish above them. That's great.

I had Brighton finishing 6th above Spurs but they may well now finish 8th. If Chelsea wasn’t an even worse shit show I’d be loving it.

Slot, Rodgers*, Potter or Frank from Brentford - I believe any of those could be good appointments for Spurs.

*I know his teams go on a decline after 2-3 years but until then he usually gets them to play some great football.

I wouldn’t rule out Potter

Yes, it didn’t work at Chelsea but I think his work at Brighton should be considered first and foremost

Potter to West Ham seems likely to me but then Brady in her column was going on about how great Ange Postecoglu was which seemed a bit random but probably gives insight into what they're planning for post Moyes.

He's done well at Celtic and has plenty of other top level experience so you suspect he'll get a premier league job sooner or later.

Frank might suit the squad well if Kane goes. Son as M'buemo, Richarlison as Toney, Kulusevski as Wissa, Hojberg as Norgaard, Bentancur as Janelt and maybe they add Maddison to be the Eriksen type. They have wing-backs for when he wants to play 3 at the back. But I think they'll go a bit more ambitious stylistically.

Harry Redknapp is the only manager pushing for this job. Better to hire a “fecking wheeler dealer” than a nobody.

And I mean no disrespect to Spurs but other than a big contract, why would a decent manager go there?

They obviously have major problems behind the scenes and the ownership isn't going to support enough investment to make a robust squad.

Would be pricier, right? Amorim would a good one but he seemed less attainable than Slot tbh.
At this rate I have no clue who it will be - it was nailed on to be Slot until this morning from everything I had heard. Our club is run by clowns.

My sympathies. But if its any consolation, it seems like Levy is avoiding the temptation to go for a random big name, as was the case during Mourinho and Conte, and trying for a tactician who has a lesser ego.

Who knows? If you have identified a manager then go and get him - it looks like we were not prepared to pay the compensation to get him. Levy penny pinching again is costing us.

Wonder if they will try to approach Amorim again? He rejected them because he didn't want to abandon Sporting at mid season, wonder if his mind changed now.

Go and get big Ange out of Celtic.

(Me being a Rangers supporter has no bearing on my suggestion whatsoever). :wenger:

Genuinely, how do you tell that a Celtic manager is doing a good job? They always win the league anyway..

One would need to win a European title for me to be convinced

It’s going to be Potter in the end when Spurs realise they can’t get anyone else and when Potter realises Brighton look better without him.

Glad Arne Slot isnt going to Spurs. He really is an excellent manager and, if he is able to adapt to working with bigger stars than at Feyenoord, he would be able to turn Spurs into a good team.

From the outside I could see it would be very difficult and unappealing to try and make a big difference at Spurs with the state run clubs and others.

Perhaps if Qatar don't buy United they could wheel out a life long Spurs fan to make a bid.

Rodgers or Potter would both be good choices probably. Though Slot would make me more excited if I was Tottenham fan.

You just listen to the hype from Celtic fans. They'll tell you he's the best thing since sliced bread.
