They won't get suspended as this is a friendly tournement.
Maybe they will be suspended from the Amsterdam tourny next year, but as things are looking right now they won't be invited.

So it´s not like the friendlies in England, where you get sent off you get a suspension ?

Anyway, the game finished Gala 2 - liverp 1.

A pathetic display in this tournament by us, very disapointing.

Mellor and Gerrard will now be suspended for however many premiership games, great.

So they will be suspended.

I do not know what Mellor was thinking, he really could have hurt that gala player badly, as for Gerrard he can be a bit nasty at times didn´t see for what he got sent of though.

So you're suspended for being sent off in a friendlie? Stupid. But of course even more stupid by the player...

I don´t think it´s a stupid rule, just cause it´s a friendly doesn´t mean that players can committ dangerous tackles etc and get away with it.

Not actually sure now... Martin Taylor said that the cards will count in the Premiership, and now others are saying that they won't, who knows.

Mellor was fustrated, purely because we couldn't get the ball of Gala and their fans were going "woo-aaa" - didn't deserve a straight red though, faggot referee.

Looking forward to the England vs. Turkey game, Gerrard should be fired up nicely to cnut those turks.

After nate had a go at Jody Morris I can't wait to hear him make excuses for these sendings off.

My money is on "That ref was shit"

Dirty Liverpool.

The irony of a Leeds fan calling Liverpool dirty.

Ah i see so we shall just wait and see.

i thought it was a red card to me it seemed like he tackled him from the back. But players definitly seemed in a foul mood to put it mildly.

As for that Turcky vs England match, that game is gonna be fierce  . I´m not english but i´ve got a soft spot for the english national team so i hope they will get something out of that game not just red cards.

Mellor's tackle was stupid and born out of frustration - but it didnt really warrant a straight red IMO, especially not in the context of the tournement.

Gerrard lost it a bit with the verbals, but again, the ref bottled it by sending him off.
Players always get a bit mouthy and to send someone off in a friendly tournement for something so petty just smacked of attention-seeking from the ref.

You couldnt imagine the likes of Collina doing that - i imagine he would've probably just walked away and let Gerrard talk bollocks.

As for the blind eye turned to the blatent provokation by Hakan Sukur and Hakan Unsal - pathetic, from what seemed to be a novice ref.

Regarding the suspensions - Mellor will be suspended as his was a straight red for what is deemed 'violent conduct'.

Gerrard however was dismissed for dissent and even then, it was a 2nd yellow.

So he wont face a suspension.

But, the best thing from the game was that it was just the old same Liverpool

The Liverpool fan who said the other day that it was the performance that count in the pre-season, not the results - he must be well worried after these games against Ajax and Galatasaray

Yeah, he WANTED to be sent off.

Did you see how happy he looked once he'd achieved his 'objective'?</strong><hr></blockquote>

Well, from the minute he stepped onto the pitch he was arguing with the ref, the opposition and putting himself about with both good as well as bad challenges

He's a scally nutter

I dont see how it's MY fault!!! ;)

But seriously, of course Mellor and Gerrard arent blameless, they did what they did and face the consequences.

But there's a responsibility on both sides, the players have to act properly and the officials have to use some common sense too.

Both were lacking, IMO.

The ref was right on the spot of Gerrard and Mellor, but Unsal and Sukur got away scott-free.

There has to be some consistency.

It is a known fact that the likes of Unsal and Sukar are masters of getting free kicks and opponents booked.

Shame the likes of Mellor and Gerrard are daft enough to fall for it.

That ref who didnt send off Viduka - he used some common sense as it was a friendly and there was no need to spoil the game - i'm sure you were probably appluading at the time.

This ref tonight - he didnt need to send off Gerrard or Mellor - it spoiled what was left of the game and left a sour taste in the mouth.

Had he used a bit of common sense, the situation would've been much calmer.

It was all a bit petty and in a friendly, unnecessary to pull out red cards for such incidents.

A better bet is that Gerrard has learnt nothing from his previous bookings and sending offs.

Instead of pointing the finger at the ref, why don't you point it at the Scally Gerrard who, as I said, seemed unbalanced and a complete twat from the moment he came on.

Let me put it this way, if it had been United and Keane, you would have been here questioning Roy Keane, sitting on your high horse as usual....

Right, so those guilty of provokation should get away with it?

Marching's own brand of insane justice, eh?

Have you ever played football yourself?

If you have, you'd known that opposition players do their outmost to provoke you throughout the game.

Some players handle it better than numpty Scouse scallies I guess...

Useless feckin ref..

Gerrard was daft to give him verbals, but he got booked for nothing in the first place...

Mellor's tackle wasn't good, yellow card would have been enough tho...

Hopefully no further suspensions for Gerrard

Of course we're going to blame the ref, he was shite...and nothing in that game was half as bad as Morris's tackle...

After the behaviour of Morris, fat Viduka and Wilcox in your friendlies calling us dirty is a more than daft..
