I’m curious to know some of the players people have chosen. I thought it was harder to do the odds then evens but the players that was available to chose had to be straightforward.

My thought process was:

1) Don't pick Darwin
2) Therefore pick Diaz (saving my arse)
3) Therefore no Saka, who's left for Arsenal?

And that's where I cocked it up

Martinelli 11? No, Watkins
Havertz? Meh
Jesus? Not worth 9

So I picked Trossard and therefore never bothered even think much about Mbeumo

My juggling mostly revolved around Jackson and Barnes both being 15

Fecking Chelsea, new squad numbers made me spunk #9 on Wilson when it's not even clear he will start much at all.

I'm now far more interested in how many weeks it takes for @Melville Red to score a goal

I was tempted to go for Diaz but wasn’t sure what front 3 for Liverpool would start the most plus he picks up injury’s so I chose Saka. I went for Watkins purely because he’s one of the only strikers that doesn’t wear number 9. Leaving the number 9 spot for the guy from Forest, which was a pure gamble that seems to be paying off so far. Mbuemo was also a gamble pick as I knew he started most of Brentford’s games but he doesn’t usually score an awful lot. I did originally have Nkunku when he was number 45 but the numbers changed so I had to change him. It was also between Barnes and Jackson for me aswell but went with Barnes. Wonder what players @Melville Red went for, I’d of said most of the obvious picks have all scored by now.

Yeah, Nkunku was my man before the squad switches.

I checked the spreadsheet and Melville basically has a crocked KDB, Sancho or Antony, Dunk, Brighton funny character guy, etc. My money is on sub Foden turning it around.

Not to be rude but are you guys not able to read the spreadsheet? All the squads are in there, Melville has Sancho and his sub is Diaby.

Overall this is still only gameweek two, still a lot of things that are going to happen. Happy with the outcome so far though. Give more penalties to Brentford!

Ye but didn’t think the squads was for people to see. Obviously it doesn’t matter now the competition has started. We had to message privately the squads. I haven’t actually checked the spreadsheets

A lot of people had KDB and subbed him for Foden. My biggest mistake was having Antony

All good, it's not like it is anything of real importance. Was just curious about people guessing their opponents picks, when they are there for all to see ;)

I had checked Melville and @Samid so I was relaying my recollection.

One had Sancho and another Antony, couldn't remember which.

Samid just looked unlucky while Melville had some odd picks, which is one way to steer clear from the rest, mind. Gamble doesn't seem to be paying off though

Is it too early to request there be a special award for the wooden spoon, I’m well on target for that

To be fair, he's pretty unlikely to be able to keep up being man bun Batistuta for very long, even if he managed it last night.

Problem is he will probably carry on using the international breaks to morph into a donkey.

I hate him being shite but hate it even more when he has a blinder which only ever happens for Pool. I can't win with this chap.

Haha, the rewards you get for picking a dipper. :D
I have an extremely good record of jinxing players when I pick them in the various games, so I honestly thought he’d be destined for about 3 goals all season. Hope I haven’t done a reverse jinx here, would be Sod’s Law

So, United have of course gone and torpedoed this for those of us daft enough to pick Hojlund (now #11) or Garnacho (now #17)

What happens with that?

A) Free switch out like the Maddison people got?
B) The people who picked United's #17 get United's actual #17 (Garnacho)?
C) You keep the player you picked if you don't have a duplicate shirt number (eg if you don't have a #11 and you picked Hojlund, you keep him)?
D) Have to use the sub to switch out?
E)boue?

When the competition was created, it was evisaged that you pick the player and not the shirt number. Then after it is seen that they meet the club and number criteria.

With the Maddison situation, those who picked him at the time also picked the alternate picks before the season properly started. The Højlund situation was at the time seen that you're taking a risk picking the player who hasn't got a squad number at all, but everyone safely assumed he was going to get the 17 shirt based on his previous club. Instead we've got doubly fecked with Garnacho going to 17 too.

Here's the current situation with various players:
  • Garnacho (17/Man Utd) - changed from 49, some of the clashes are fine as De Bruyne is injured and injury sub has been used to fix that. Someone picked Toney too but that is fine as Toney can't play so Garnacho pick stands. Someone picked Iwobi as well (also #17) but he changed to Fulham and new number hasn't been confirmed so could be fine.
  • Iwobi (??/Fulham) - new number not confirmed, changed from Everton. As explained above could be okay if number doesn't stay as 17.
  • Højlund (11/Man Utd) - the grand clusterfeck. Everyone who picked him envisaged he would be #17. Clashes are numbers with Martinelli or Watkins.
  • Maupay (7/Brentford) - I know, I'm amazed anyone picked him too. Number clashes with #7 Diaz at Liverpool.
  • Mitrovic - gone to Saudi.
  • Nunes (27/Man City) - same club for DJ_21 as Foden. Injury sub already used.
  • Reguilon (15/Man Utd) - see special section below.
  • Toney (17/Brentford) - picked by two players, obviously can't play until the new year (once this contest ends) due to his ban
Alvaro Maestre (special section for just this one participant)
  • Højlund (11/Man Utd) - same number as Martinelli.
  • Mitrovic - gone to Saudi.
  • Reguilon (15/Man Utd) - picked by Alvaro Maestre when he was at Spurs, currently now at United with Højlund so invalid - and this is explicitly in the OP:
If your player changes club to one that another of your picks is at, that player will be ineligible with no replacements.
Most of the situations are straightforward as it explicitly says in the OP the rules. Garnacho and Højlund is a bit more complex... thoughts on what should be done? Options:
  1. Tough shit.
  2. Free switch out a la Maddison.
  3. Have to use injury sub if you've got it but ONLY on Garnacho/Højlund.
  4. If you've picked one of them and there's a clash then you get the other player, so if you picked Højlund you get Garnacho and vice versa.
  5. Something else (open to suggestions).

Most of the situations are straightforward as it explicitly says in the OP the rules. Garnacho and Højlund is a bit more complex... thoughts on what should be done? Options:
  1. Tough shit.
  2. Free switch out a la Maddison.
  3. Have to use injury sub if you've got it but ONLY on Garnacho/Højlund.
  4. If you've picked one of them and there's a clash then you get the other player, so if you picked Højlund you get Garnacho and vice versa.
  5. Something else (open to suggestions).
No way should they get a free switch. That's not fair on the rest of us. You run that risk when you pick obscure/new players.
