We can disagree on that, but I'll just pick out the bolded part in your argument on why I feel Bruno is not my PotS. He's been here half a season, so if he's been off the last couple of weeks, where he'd still register an assist or penalty goal here and there (which was usually won by Martial, hence why he's made him look better at times than he really was), then he has a much shorter slack in my eyes because if you're going to be PotY when you've been here half a season, you can't have a couple of weeks off, it just can't happen in my eyes.

So for me, Martial is the clear winner, but to each their own.
Fair enough. Martial is definitely #2 for me. Had a really good season. But that season would have been a wet fart if Bruno hadn't been bought. That's how I see it anyway.

Rashford for me overall. But it is close between him, Martial and Fred who I think is very unlucky post lock down to not start more, although the times he has played he was very good.

Can't vote for Bruno as he has had only half a season, no matter how good that half was.

By the way who won the official club POTY? I'd assume the winner been announced already given the new season is already underway.

Losing to Comeback Winning!
No announcements yet.

Which is just weird, voting closed ages ago.
Maybe they're still thinking on how to set-up the "celebrations" with all this C19, since formal gathering is unwise.

It was always going to be bent by media narrative, especially the one voted for by gullible fans. Martial was without a doubt our best player for me, he consistently gave top performances all season apart from a two week period in January, not to mention the crucial and great goals dispersed throughout.

So, not voting for Martial are gullible fans now  . What makes you think that your opinion is right?

Martial has a far better season for us than Bruno, it really was the media narrative that allowed him to be voted player of the season. When he was dropping stinker after stinker the commentators and pundits just kept on with the praise, it was weird.

That's an opinion, and not in any way a fact. I don't read sport papers nor hear commentators on TV. But I still think Bruno is our POTY. Our season was going to the gutter with Martial, and that's a fact.

Opinion. Calling fans as gullible just because the majority don't agree with his, is not a good sport.

I dont understand why Martial fans are so disappointed, ffs this was voted by ManUtd fans, stop bs like "Media narrative" "gullible ones", most of them watch the games and maybe they felt that Bruno's impact means he was the deserving winner.

Maybe Martial fans love him so much that they don't want to see any other player getting the praise..

IMO Martial should have won the award but can see why Bruno got it.

I'm happy for Bruno and could see this happening a mile off but I wouldn't have had Bruno in my top 3 last season.

Bruno contributed a lot in his short time but played well for what, 10 league games? I don't see how anyone can justify giving POTS to someone who was involved in less than half the league season.

I'm not sure about media narrative but a fair amount of recency bias impacts these types of things.

Everyone saw this coming as his impact was so big. His signing completely transformed our season and that started when Rashford and Pogba were injured.

Its not award that was won based on media narrative like Henderson won. He won this on merit. IIRC since he played us, he won player of the month everytime except last one when we played coupled of europa games only.

Voted for Martial but can see why Bruno got it, changed the course of our season and lifted the whole team. He's only been there since January so thought Anthony would win it still.

Still happy that it's not De Gea winning it or Shaw for being only player who was decent through the whole season.

I'd even have Rashford as my second, just the way he carried the team.

Of course that plays a part, that's why people went with "Martial was easy choice" when he scored 5 league goals in first half of the season.

Don't get me wrong, Martial had very good season and like I said he was my choice for player of the season but till Jan, no one talked about Martial as player of the year candidate either. It was easily Rashford, Fred choice at that time. It was his form since Feb that made him player of the year candidate.

LIke you said, recency bias plays the role, one of the reason Fred's importance was played down by many when he had very good season.

I think he only deserved one, maybe 2 player of the month awards. He was largely poor through July and August whilst the team was carried by Martial. He hasn't won this on Merit, people talk about him "single handedly" getting us top 4 but that's utter nonsense and nothing but a media narrative. His coming into the team coincided with our up turn in form but there are many more reasons than just Bruno for that.

Like I say, I'm delighted for Bruno but he definitely doesn't deserve the award.

Would have given it to Martial too.

However, the best thing about the award was that it was the battle between 3 forwards unlike previously. So, more of the same this season please.

He didn't "Single handedly" got us top 4. No player can win the games single handedly, its impossible. Also no, Martial didn't carry the team. We had lot of good performing players and Martial was better in more games, doesn't mean he carried the team.

IMO he won all the awards on merit.

And saving our asses all season long while we were firing blanks upfront?

Wouldn't mind him coming back into that form, but no, I would rather prefer forward players being in this conversation. :)

Bruno for me. Not just because he performs well on the pitch. But because off the pitch he is a leader and a role model. He also almost singlehandedly changed the outlook of the club in 2020.

Should have been Martial or Rashford. Bruno cant carry the team without those two since thats the logic I keep seeing.

Congratulations to Bruno, but I personally feel that Martial would have been a more worthy POTY....I voted for Martial and his improvement over the course of last season should have been rewarded with this award..l

Called it if it was a fan voted award.
For sure bro

Shows you the power of media propaganda, it still works . It's definitely not recency bias as you mentioned, as if that was the case Bruno would not have won the August POTM award when his performances had completely tailed off.

Personally I don't take much stoke in these individual awards anyway for a team sport, especially in this era of vapid individualism. By now its just amusing at how majority of them are always off, millions of gullible cnuts are born every day...

Edit: I was wrong on July POTM, Mason won that!

In my view, Martial literally carried us for the last 3 or 4 games in the league. Bruno had gone to the dogs, Pogba was out of form, Rashford was having a nightmare and Greenwood had gone quiet yet Martial kept going and carried our attack.

Yup that one was pretty blatant. Still, I'm quite surprised Bruno won it in the end, didn't expect that many people to vote for him. Congrats to him.

And as for the media propaganda, I do think in the end it had a positive effect for us as it allowed a new signing to gain confidence quickly, as well as keeping a feel-good factor around the team. So I don't mind it's blatancy. A more negative one like what's been hanging around Pogba would be more of a problem for me.

Yes, he was basically involved in almost every goal we scored after the Villa game.

That being said Martial deserved it for scoring our first and only league hattrick since SAF.

Seems like Martial won the Player's one. I don't understand this one though, so the award called Busby one is the one voted by the fans right? Or are those 2 different with the fan one being called Busby award and the other one another name?

That being said Martial deserved it for scoring our first and only league hattrick since SAF.
Seems like players recognized it. Game recognizes game.
