I like this guy tbh. His injury record is a concern thought, but definitely a game changer on his day

Is his injury record as bad as described?

As talented as a Dembele may be, there’s no way this is the player Ole wants. His injury record is atrocious. To me, that suggests that his body simply can’t handle the stresses the game puts on it (which would likely be greater in England), and that he may not be willing to fight through some injuries / play with pain. His attitude also seems to be contrary to what Ole has talked about wanting Combine that with his apparent lack of interest in joining United, and this deal makes very little sense.

Spending the extra money on Sancho would be much smarter.

Yeah, I never liked that not suited for EPL line of thinking, but in this case I can't see him as a good fit at all.
Him having problems with staying fit, getting up and potentially not wanting to come here are all valid concerns.

And I still think this is all meant to send a message to Dortmund that we are ready to spend elsewhere (whether Dortmund actually pay attention to any of our messages atm is another matter).

Sir Ed fecked up the Sacho deal, it fits his usual narrative that he is now trying to pull off a last second deal for the biggest name available. Can't see any way that signing a player with serious injury concerns, problems on and off the field and a clear preference to stay in Spain could come back to bite us. The official noodle sponsors will love a big name signing though.

What’s the point? Might as well just get Sarr.

I mean as long as it's a loan with a small fee and we can send him back if he (when he in reality) gets injured i don't really care. Just give me an option on the wing that isn't James and Lingard please

Barça DOES NOT contemplate a loan from Dembelé. A good offer for a transfer would be studied but, according to club sources, United for now has not made any firm proposal for the French

Theres clear weakness in his hamstring. That doesnt get better over time, its the opposite. If we do go for him, we need to minimise risk by doing a loan with an option to buy at the end at most. Buying outright and not knowing if he can even play a season wouldnt make sense at all.

Do you see the problem between your first and second sentence?

If he carried on his current rate of injury, James and Lingard would be exactly what you'd be getting in your scenario.

A more explosive league with more aggression gives a greater chance his muscles breakdown.

How underwhelming would this be. Not only because it’s a loan but because there will surely be other clubs interested in Sancho next summer. It’s now or never for Sancho. Osama Bin Dembele doesn’t even want a move as reported.

When you end up in Barca with 21 and you just don't care; what that say about you? That guy is just stupid and he will not change here or anywhere else.
Part of me wants him here but i doubt that it would end well for us

Loan would be fine IMO, even though we aren't known to get injury prone players back to regular fitness. I expect him to be injured quite a bit, but i also think Sancho is not coming, so yeah. I dont want Sarr for 40m either. Chiesa would be my candidate, but if he doesn't want to leave Italy, we don't have endless options.

Bad injury record

Doesn’t want to leave Barcelona, rejected Liverpool and Juventus

Attitude issues in the past

We’d have to pay all of his wages

AND we haven’t even negotiated a buy option in case he’s good for us

To me, everything points towards this becoming a huge embarrassment.

Fab been given some bad info on this one I suspect. The Barca sources have already come out and said no loan deal.

Prefer Sarr.
Sure he's less flashy but he'll likely stay fit and wouldn't see us as a step-down like Dembele potentially would.

Still wouldn't be surprised if this goes through. Sounds like a silly move United have always got up their sleeve now and again.

I'd take Dembele on loan with an obligation to buy IF he plays 45 times. If he plays 45 times then he'll have a) shown fitness and b) proven valuable enough to Solskjaer to keep getting picked. In those circumstances why wouldn't we want him?

This stinks of ADM all over again. He does not really want to come.

Perhaps a loan and then go for Sancho next season. He will probably be out injured for most of the season anyhow.

We'd have to pay his wages whilst he doesn't contribute, basically leaving us exactly where we are now, except with more wages that we'd have to pay.
If it was a loan on a pay as you play deal given his injury record, then yeah, that wouldn't be too bad, but he'd never ever agree to something like that.

It will be ok as long as Greenwood is not injured at the same time. A loan is better than to buy Sarr for 40m, that is even more of a gamble.
