Television OZ - tv series

The ending to Alvarez' storyline was bizarre too. Hated that.

I consider the bit in bold to be the most atrocious plot-line.

Also hasn't been mentioned, Rawls and Herc from the Wire also make appearances.

A lot of actors from The Wire is in it: Rawls, Herc, the campaign manager for Carcetti, Avon, Daniels etc.

Started watching this after seeing this thread an making me remember seeing it on TV when flicking through channels ages ago. Watched a few of them but the wheelie chair Matrix bloke is doing my head it, when he talks to the camera, ruins it. Some good bits though aside from that. Not sure if i'll give it another go or not.

I thought that at first but grew to like them. Some of them are interesting.

Was weird, apparently because Harold Perrineau was filming The Matrix and couldn't do that episode.

Just started to watch it on Sky Atlantic...decent so far and reminds me of The Wire (which I controversially like but not love). Anyway, the one thing that's annoying me is the guy in the wheelchair (Wikipedia tells me it's Augustus Hill)...Jesus, his 'philosophies/monologues would be deemed embarrassingly obvious, even for a 14 year old....they are really bad and doing my fecking head in - is it like that the whole way through? I can't believe that anyone would think it a good idea.

Probably the best, if not one of the best, inmate background segments.

Great show that gets ridiculous towards the end.

After season 4 when HBO let all off their writers and budget go towards The Sopranos effectively ended the shows quality.

Indeed. The drop-off in quality at that time is pretty staggering when you think about. For me the show should have ended with
Adebisi's death.

I packed it in after the

ageing pill, possibly the dumbest storyline of all time

I saw this when it was on channel 4 at like 2.00am years ago. It was a landmark show because there had just been nothing like it on TV before. I would say it started the 'golden age of television'.

Worst bit for me

The ageing pill
Yeah, stopped watching soon after its introduction
The drop in quality was shocking, the first seasons were nothing short of amazing

Laid up on the sofa all day with tonsillitis. Binged watched a lot of this.

Absolutely love it. Extremely far fetched at times but entertaining.

Sorry to post again but yes! So yes!

It really annoys me and I cringe everytime it happens.

Wow, when was it on originally? I remember watching it years ago- must have been 2000-2004, when I was at my first proper job.
I remember it being violent and entertaining. And bumming.

It was great but a bit dated now, especially the latter seasons. I remember watching it when it came out, it was the precursor to The Sopranos, The Wire and so on.

Sopranos is my favourite tv show of all time.

Yeah this is very dated and extremely rough around the edges.

Enjoying it though.

I am not sure mate I am catching up on Sky Boxsets.

Onto Season 4 now. Apparently it all goes downhill from here.

How does it seem dated? So long since I watched it and wondering whether it's revisiting it. It's on Sky boxsets then?

It just looks a bit old now because, well, it is!

Yes mate it's on Sky Boxsets under Dramas.

No, fair point. I guess it's not HD which doesn't help? Might have a look back at a couple for nostalgia's sake. Finding out that Oz and Brass Eye are now so old makes me feel old:(

He is definetly a RAWK poster

Man this is awful now. Seasons 1-3 were great but I am having trouble sticking with it now.

Might as well finish it as I am on Season 6 but it's tough going.

The writing is woeful at times.

When they introduced the ageing drug as an alternative way of doing time I was done.
