Obviously we have to roll with the punches but there’s no way in God’s green earth that a midweek league match between those two fixtures is better than no midweek match. Especially when Arsenal won’t have a game (I think?)
Ehh, it’s a chance to kickstart some momentum if Saturday doesn’t go well. It’s no biggie game time wise, it’s just a shitter on the away fans getting this dropped on us with such little notice.
Awful scheduling. Why not give Palace and us a bit of autonomy on when to fit it in? If we don’t get past Barca there’ll be loads of midweeks free from now till the end of the season.
And if we go all the way to the final in everything we’ll have no time to fit in this and Leeds.

You need to fit these games in as early as possible for very obvious reasons. We can only blame ourselves not getting a second in San Sebastián to be honest.

So basically, so far played this month: vs Bournemouth (H), Everton (H); to play vs Charlton (H), City (H), Palace (A), Arsenal (A), potentially 2 legs of Carabao Cup semis after that and also vs Reading at home somewhere in between those potential 2 CC semi-final legs. 9 games in one month.

It's very important month for a season as a whole as we could potentially get to Carabao Cup final, into last 16 of Fa Cup and those 3 PL games - especially vs City and Arsenal - will show where we are league wise, below those 2 teams or next to them. Huge couple of weeks.

Not ideal but it was going to have to get fitted into the schedule somewhere along the line. We’ve also got the Leeds home game to fit in somewhere too in the already hectic schedule.

Just wish we had scored that one extra goal needed in the Europa League group stages now as we could have done without those two games against Barcelona next month.

Why is it only our game that they've rescheduled? Why not the Arsenal vs City game?

Interesting point. Arsenal play tomorrow, so if they don't get a replay maybe that game will get rescheduled too?
Arsenal v City has been rescheduled for Feb 15th. A win tomorrow and it's possible that the outstanding Arsenal v Everton fixture could be rescheduled.

I think so as I believe the rescheduling for our fixtures must be a nightmare as we are still in all 3 competitions. Arsenal vs Man City has already been re-schedules for mid-Feb

Yeah, this is going to be pretty hardcore. City on the 14th, Palace on the 18th, Arsenal on the 22nd.

We could do with wrapping up that Weghorst signing asap and...maybe another one.
I know many wouldn't but take Depay as it gives us another forward option, also him and Weghorst recently linked up at World Cup

Yeah, that's what I've been thinking. They can't just wait and hope they can fit the match in later in the season. And even if they manage to do it, it might happen at a worse time, who knows.

At least there's a decent gap between those three matches.

On the positive side, at least Palace don't seem to be playing well atm

They couldn't wait until we sign Weghorst and Felix, huh.

Anyway, Palace is in a terrible form. It's as good time as any to play them.

Relax guys, it's not the end of the world. Last season Liverpool almost use the same team week in week out for their quadruple chase. ETH is starting to rotate a lot more now.

For a big team like us, it's quite common to have 3 games within 8-10 days.

And we have their doctor now. Easy 3 points

I was wondering when our postponed matches against Crystal Palace and Leeds would get played. Now it seems the FA have scheduled the Palace match right between our City & Arsenal fixtures giving just 10 days notice. Hope ETH uses this affront in the same way that SAF would have to create the siege mentality of “everyone is against us”
It was either a case of playing it now or playing three times in a week later on in the season, were we to continue progressing in all the cups. A primary school pupil could have worked out that there were potentially too many games and not enough midweek slots. If Leeds didn’t a replay, it was likely that home match that would have been scheduled here.

As it is, if we beat Charlton, and if both us and Leeds don’t have an FA Cup 4th Round replay, we will likely play Leeds at home that midweek when the replays otherwise take place.

It’s a crazy busy schedule…so expect some lethargic performances and few dropped points.

No doubt people will still be moaning endlessly.
I dont think there will be lethargic performances: 1) People in the media are starting to warm to them and hype them up now. They will have too much pride to let things slip. 2) Bad performances could see them lose their place in the team for a game or two.

Don't have the strength in depth at moment for 3 games in such a short period. For example even Everton in shocking form got a foothold in midfield on Friday once Casemiro was subbed off.

Fred was doing fine. Also, we have made substitution to be more defensive in closing minutes. Hence, Everton may seemed have the control in the middle. But we countered them and scored again.

Yep, I don't get the moaning. It's a no brainer to schedule it as soon as both clubs have a free midweek. We should actually be grateful Palace avoided a replay and we are able to fit this in now. If not, we could have ended up having to play four games in a week towards the end of the season to squeeze it in.

It's ridiculous that the Carabao cup semi final is still 2 legs. Would be nice to see the Old Trafford / Villa Park one off style FA Cup retro be brought in, but only a matter of time before Wembley is brought in as a one off solution.

It's even more ridiculous in this season. As are the replays.

More than City or Arsenal, this will be the game that gives us an indication of where we're at.

Scrappy 1-0 win would do us the world of good.

From what Ive seen against Everton we are tierd and City will likley beat us with ease 2 0 or something. They just have too much quality in their squad and they can rotate. Apart from them we should not fear Arsenal or any other team.

Ideally, it shouldn't have been done for us as well. These guys are banking on us to reach the final for all competitions. There's plenty of time in the season

If Arsenal go through today, hopefully that get a fixture in the same midweek. Otherwise, it is unnecessarily a major disadvantage to us.
