It's travesty that he has the cheek to say this. Rooney is perfect, he just needs a manager who will build around him and sacrifice the remaining 10 players for his good.

Oh dear, I'd give it credence if it was anyone else saying it. But Paul Parker...

All I can say it's about time the media and ex-players started saying what is obvious to everyone. Rooney was a great player, with pace, aggression and power. He is a shadow of the player he once was. This is not about hating him as a player or person. This is about Manchester United and what is best for the team. Right now he should not be in the first 11.

Has Rooney ever had a six-pack in his life? People will say his body build is different but I don't buy it. Atleast someone is speaking the truth now. I don't know why so many other players and managers keep defending him.

Does anyone disagree? Of course aside from those that don't watch games and assume Rooney is still a top five player in world football.

Blimey. Jamie Redknapp hinted (on the weekend) at the idea that Rooney could be dropped and now Paul Parker's laying into him. Maybe the 'no media criticism' clause* in his contract has run out?

*May not be a real clause.

Does this mean that Parker reads/posts on the Caf?

If so then Hi Paul
I think you are on to something here its only on the Cafe where such unwelcome opinions are allowed to float around, the idea that Rooney is no longer a top footballer has no basis in reality.

Clickbait headline, but everything he says in the article is spot on. In fact, he was too easy on Rooney.

Jamie Redknapp and Paul Parker flying the flag for honesty in the ranks of English pundits.

he can’t move or shift his body quick enough
This, along with his crappy first touch, are the key problems, a #10 without these attributes is going to hamper most attacks as he's supposed to be an attacking fulcrum.

One of the things I love about football, is how the sport allows so many different types of physiques to reach top level. Just look at the massive difference between Ronaldo and Messi! Being a skinny guy, it was always inspiring to see people with my physique make it(even though they obviously had better stamina and lower body-fat percentages).

Because of this, I never really had a problem with Rooney and his physique. As long as he performed well, I couldn't be arsed if he looked a bit heavy. The thing is; Rooney at his best was an explosive and assertive player with a knack for scoring goals. Take away these qualities, and you're left with a fairly mediocre player(by United standards). He's been sub-par for 2 years(and he wasn't THAT great under Moyes either), and given his age and the fact that he's already played more top football than most top professionals in their mid-thirties, it doesn't look good for him. He's just not smart and silky enough to be a CM. He's not explosive enough to be a no.10 or a striker. He's done, I'm afraid.

I seriously think you guys just have to get over this Rooney thing & accept you're not as good at reading the games as the professionals. He's a world class player & he's in the team by merit, and if you think LVG/Mourinho aren't dropping him for some other reason, then you're just too blind to appreciate how much of an impact he has on the game.
Too obvious?
If he doesn't return to England duty, you could have him for another 3-4 years.

He's not overwieght! Some people just don't understand this and never will. But he's kind of right about his performances but I can't fully agree with him simply because it's Paul Parker...

Astonishing. A former professional player/pundit/manager/journalist coming out and deriding Rooney's performances. With his free pass within the media, I never thought I'd see the day.

Don't think he's overweight, but he hasn't needed to be overweight to be slow for a good few seasons now. I don't blame him for the situation though, no player is going to ask to be dropped. The onus is on Jose, just like it was on Van Gaal before him.

Rooney's media connections will be in, in no time, with an article that will defend/promote him.
Exclusive: van Gaal made Rooney eat burger and chips before breakfast

He's played over 700 games for club and country in the most physical league in the world.
His body is beginning to show it.

Isn't that what the last 3 managers have done;). Put Rooney on the team sheet and then wonder how the other 10 will win the game. Harsh, but he is certainly not there on form.

I'm reading everyone that agrees with Paul Parker as being serious and everyone that has backed Rooney as being sarcastic.
