A twister part of me wants us to trigger his one year option, imagine the scenes on here if it happened :lol::lol: what’s the odds he goes to a lower table or newly promoted team and is decent for them ?
A fully fit firing Phil Jones returning for one last dance post-takeover would be the icing on the cake.

There’s bad luck and then there’s bone idle

I know which category Phil Jones belongs in
Hes in the bad luck category then. Developed a blood clotting disease which means he physically cannot recover from basic ailments. If he can't get it right he may have incredibly poor quality of life in later years.

Too many ignorant people don't want to believe this, they'd rather just keep slagging him off for being injured like he's just chose not to play for the last few years

How dare posters ask if Precious Jones can contribute to the club if not by going on loan then in other areas while pocketing £100K/w. There's coaching, marketing, football operations or even volunteer work..

That money can help ease the burden for thousands of United fans suffering from medical conditions such as depression, cancer and so on every year.

But nope, spare a thought only for our precious. Truly remarkable stuff.

I’ve never heard this before. Is this public knowledge? Or something only locals would know?

I don't understand the bitterness in this thread

Really good player, who had the potential to be a key player for United and England for a decade + and who seemed to love playing for United has had his career decimated by injury.

Personally I'm gutted for him. what he said about his testimonial offer was really sad.

Its all out there and its all public. No one cares. Rather put out silly face memes.

He got his first diagnosis of blood clotting in 2015. He developed a weird calf strain from an innocuous bump during training. They were kind of flummoxed until they found an actual blood clot.

That was just the beginning. I'm gutted for him like

Whilst feeling sorry for the guy if this is the case it does beg the question as to why the club did not take this into account when extending his contract. Surely if the club knew this in 2015 any extension should have been on a heavily incentivsed pay for play deal?

Yeah it's a devasting story which I'm sure will get more coverage once he retires. He's a player that always gave his all on the pitch for United. I really don't understand the anger and bitterness towards him.

It’s not anger but what’s the use of maintaining the contract. Just pay him up and give him all the money he should get.

He seemed oke with his troubles behind him and happy a year ago:

Human decency? He’s obviously in a bad physical way as a result of playing for the club. He has a contract. What’s the point in giving him the money under his contract to go away? He’ll have access to the best medical treatment etc. while he’s at the club. Why take that away from him? It’s not like he’s drawing cocks and balls on the tactics board before ETH walks into the room.

What’s the use of keeping him around and not playing him anyway? Pay him up and let him make a new start somewhere and wish him all the luck in the world. It’s not anger or bitterness, just common sense. United helped him during all his years of injuries and troubles. Which is good ofcourse. But he seems alright now, so time to make a new start somewhere else.

Well he’s not bone idle, not sure how people reach that conclusion. Clearly his knees are too fecked for this level
13 games played since signing a 4 year contract back in 2019, a stat to be embarrassed about imo

But others to blame as well for offering him that deal to begin with.

In a climate where we have owners who suck multi millions out of the club and saddle us with increasing debt, how on earth can anyone be so upset with a guy who in putting his body on the line in service of the club racked up a string of injuries?

I assume that you have it on good authority that Phil Jones doesn't do any of the stuff you have mentioned in your post, else why would you write stuff like that.
I think it's a bit disrespectful to be calling him a name like that.

Apart from you having the worst name I ever heard, when was this disease reported? I honestly completely missed this.

I say offer him a new contract. He's a mascot at the point.

We need our very own JT/full kit wanker moment when he lifts a Premier League trophy.

Why bother paying him? Just invoke a clause in his contract and tell him to feck off. That's what a real club would do

Not sure how blame is apportioned to the player? It’s not like he goes out to get deliberately injured. He’s got serious issues which can affect him in later life. I don’t it warrants being labelled bone idle. Blame woodie etc

I wonder if rival fans realise that Phil Jones still plays for United

It would be like finding out that Chelsea still have Essien

Like I said months ago, he is retired. Club just allowing him to quietly see out his contract.
