Why would they check anything after the offside ? Once hes offside the rest of play is null
That's not how it works... you don't just ignore everything that happens on the pitch just because the referee blew an imaginery whistle. There are rules that the referee can use that allows him to punish players before the play is restarted which should have happened in this case. Otherwise players could foul with attempt to injure opponents when they are offside knowing they'd get away with it.

This is football forum - online version of sports pub, not united board room :) people will have spectrum of opinion about everything. Have fun with it.
Some people are still clearly having issues grasping what the point of a forum is.

It's really ridiculous.

Especially since you can't even determine when exactly the ball leaves the foot.

There is always a margin of error (about an inch or two) you naturally can't get rid of.
They should really put a a short time limit on the decision made by VAR. If they cannot see he is offside in that time, then it is inconclusive and should be allowed.

Thats not how it works. There was much confusion during the game on why Pickford wasn't sent off. The upshot was that VAR confirmed they didn't check the Pickford incident, they focussed on the offside and forgot to check Pickford. It was an oversight.

There's a rule that means players can still get punished while waiting for a free kick to be taken, this is how they punish challenges like Pickfords.
Don't think you can forget to check something as serious as the Pickford challenge. They also forgot to check Richarlison being pulled back just before he headed against the post and Robertson kicking Allan. Either something has changed or VAR had a mare today.

Trent has henderson and or fabinho to babysit him. Its clearly not just the system why hes so exposed

Yeah its no one is saying hes a bad footballer hes quality going forward, but cant defend at all.
But my point is that Robertson has great cover and Mane who actually stays wide. If Trent doesnt get forward then they have no width simply because Salah is forever running inside. Theres more pressure on Trent going forward.
Plus Robertson has always been better imo.

I mean they didnt say they forgot to check it, they ignored it completely and simply said "we checked the offside and didnt check Pickford". Why? Who the feck knows, Lee Dixon was confused too.

VAR have a mare pretty much every week.

Draw is a fair result to be honest. Good game with both sides having great chances. Pickford a lucky boy again and Richarlison stupid for the sending off.

How do you guys put up with Pickford. Granted I don't see everton play every weel but whenever I have seen him he makes a blunder.

He's got it very well made. All he needs to do to keep his spot is to get into a semi-decent position and then just offload it for Mane or Salah.

If they score, you get the assist and look amazing.
If they don't score, you still gave them the ball, and still look good.
If the pass doesn't come off, at least you're trying.

Nice guy Firmino. Apparently he does so many things that we don't see. In an alternate dimension, he's banging them in, we're just not evolved enough to see it.

Fixed it for you seb. :p
again have to say, there's very little wrong with VAR - but a hell of a lot with the idiots looking at it. If you are bad ref on the pitch, you are going to be bad in a truck parked somewhere down the road!

Thank god Liverpool didn't sign Werner
Why?

He's an ok striker, nothing more.

Get him into a position, where he runs at or behind the last line with full speed and he looks very good. Take that away and he does nothing all game long.

Southhampton's defending against him is atrocious.

I'm much more worried about Havertz, he's clearly the superior talent.

He is starting to look a player recently. Seems to be acclimatising to the league

Has a CL and PL winners medal from last 2 years and is loved by possibly the best manager in the world. I’d say he is doing OK.

Southampton's backline is unfit for this level. Shame, they're actually decent going forward.

Werner is absolutely class. Amazing composure for that second goal.
