Simple one really, time to get nostalgic!

Be nice to have a thread on here to highlight some of the incredible talents of yester-year... Give me some players that have retired / passed away / or simply some we don't get to see on a weekly basis and you really miss...it could be any player from any club from anywhere in the world... maybe it might be a player you watched as a child and you sat in awe of them, you watched on in amazement at the things they done on the pitch........maybe its a player that was an relative unknown on the world stage but you admired for some reason...maybe it was a players playing style or leadership...

Whomever it was...share it with everyone on here & your reasons for posting them! :)

Feel free to post Youtube links... be great to have some videos to remember some of their finest Moments....

I'll get the ball rolling...........I'll start off with a Utd man (no surprise there), After my name tag.....

Eric Cantona

He was the missing link to secure that elusive title for Utd after 26 years, but beside all that the man was so charismatic! He walked out on to OT pitch like he owned the place, you got a sense from him that OT was almost built for his sole purpose, to show case to the world his talents...that was his canvas! For me one of my finest Football memories also was his return game against the arch enemy (Liverpool) after being banned for 8 months for attacking a Palace fan at Selhurst Park, I remember going to a local pub with a mate and his dad and the atmosphere in the place was just electric!! It was 50/50 with Supporters of each club there.... OT was just incredible too that day, all the flags, banners and Cantona masks showing support was something I'll never forget!!

Enjoy! :)

Ronaldo! The Original Ronaldo!!

Of all the players I've ever seen in my life so far, I still think he is the greatest I've ever seen..... Not even Messi or "Our" Ronaldo.... Just incredible, there aren't enough superlatives I could say about him to do him justice! Never have I seen a player with such incredible all round qualities, from his control, his touch, his pace, strength & of course finishing. For a man of his size he moved like a teenage Giggs but carried the strength of a Shearer...If he wanted to score..he did, it was that simple! No stopping him!

Bergkamp

Just a beautiful footballer really, what else can you say! Technically probably one of the greatest to ever play I feel... some of his touches and passing can only be described as pure football porn!!! When Arsenal we're winning the league over Utd I was never Overly bitter with them winning because of Bergkamp really, I could watch the man play all day if it we're possible!

Lets have it folks, share whatever you like! :)

Cantona without doubt, I feel sorry for those who are too young to have enjoyed him

But then again the elders on here will say same about Best, Charlton and,law

Hate Arsenal. But bit of a confession to make. I've never seen anyone dominate Premier League defences like this guy did in his prime. Henry had everything in his locker - blistering pace, balance, finishing ability, control, touch. Great player to watch. Came around at a great time too with the United-Arse rivalry at its peak..

Ronaldinho. Never seen anyone like him, before or since. A complete one-off magician.

Souness - Probably my favourite player of all time.

Carragher - I wish he was still playing for just this season instead of Kolo. Would've loved him to get a medal.

Pains me to say it but yeah Carragher deserved at least 1 medal and for LFC to win it the year after he retired! Must hurt him alright looking on from that sky box and seeing what is going on!

Oh, actually.

Pavel Nedved. He was genuinely my favourite player around 2002-2004 and Juve were my sort of hipster fetish as a 13 year old.

Apart from the obvious United heroes, I also miss Ruud a hell of a lot.

This remains one of my favourite goals...

Bixente Lizarazu. Great player but also a great human being. Sadly I find little content about him in english. There are some great interviews in french.
[/QUOTE]

after his career as footballer he became european champion in jiu-Jitsu in a senior bracket and he is also an exceptional good surfer.

Jan Koller. He was always the subject of a joke or two.

Always actually enjoyed watching him and the Czech Republic in tournaments - particularly Euro 2004 and WC 06

That little touch and finish remains one of the best things I've ever seen on a football pitch. Love it. Love Ruud, too.

Cannavaro. How can someone that small be that successful in that position?

Ballack. Before he went to Chelsea he wasn't half bad at kicking balls was he?

van der Sar. Obvious

Pauleta. Because he always flopped at international tournaments and it was quite funny because he had such a good scoring record. Contributed to a few Ronaldo tears.

Ruud van Nistelrooy. The 5 years he spent with us, I loved it! Yesterday I was watching a compilation of him and it brought a tear to my eye. I'll post it tomorrow.

Not a the worlds greatest player but his 4 years at Bolton we're a pleasure to behold!! I give you Jay Jay!

I think he was at his peak at Bolton, just glided past players and was having the laugh it seemed...made it look so easy!

EDIT: Skip to about 1.20 on this... Makes keane his bitch a few times
