We've seen this for years. A team that is extremely mentally frail. Any criticism and they fold. And every United player of stature has spoken of the added pressure of playing for United. It is part and parcel of playing for the club.

The dressing room needs a new atmosphere. We need at least one experienced winner in there. We need to get rid of the prima donnas, despite their occasional talent.

If Mike Phelan really does want the DoF role and is competent enough, I'd like to see Keane as a number 2. Him and Ole always got on great. Keane has recently said that the number 2 role suits him to the ground. It's not about having him sort the players out, it's about someone who was an incredible player for us (much much much better than Ole) and a true leader, come in and keep up standards. There's a time for a laugh and then there's being serious when you're working.

Maybe we'll sign 4-5 players. But we really should try to get rid of 7-8-9 players. Promote youth, plenty of games for them in the Europa League. Clear the atmosphere of this loser mentality and put ourselves in the best possible position for the eventual time when the parasites sell the club so we don't have to start from scratch then.

The most popular thread today :D I've changed the title to see if there are any takers. Especially now as the latest rumours are Phelan for Technical Director and Carrick promoted as a number 2.

Because it worked out well for the Republic of Ireland.....
I could use the same argumentation with Ole at Cardiff. Ole probably wouldn't work out at any major club bar United (if he does) because of his history with the club and his stature here as a player. Same with Keano.

Too much focus on the wrong areas. Keane as no.2 will do feck all because the players will complain about getting bullied and get him sacked. Mentality starts from the top.

Ed Woodward dictates the culture of players, in the sense that he is spending all his time getting noodle sponsorships and so sets no culture. This means players rule the club. Matt Judge sets the standard for earning your contract, in the sense that you have to do sweet F all to earn your wages. This means players aren't motivated to give it their all and join us for a pay day. Glazers are the Glazers, they have a passing interest in football and are in it for the money.

I'd be very surprised if many posters would go for Keane as no2.
It would be funny to read about him calling the players lazy pricks, though.

It'd be like having Bill Murray as no.2.

While I think there's some sense in the idea of having some ying to Ole's yang in the assistant position, I doubt Keane is the way to go.

The likes of Stephen Ward could not take Roy Keane seriously but, sure he is exactly what this squad needs. His hard man shtick seems to wear thin especially with younger players. And at the Republic of Ireland it seems very little he did would qualify as coaching.

Yes. Put a two footer on the limp primadonna and finish him off along with whoever else gets caught in the crossfire, whether they deserve it or not. Might as well put a "For Sale" sign up on OT soon after .

Apparently his coaching techniques leave a lot to be desired and modern football seems to have left him behind. Heard it from a few people I know who work in football.

The moment the number 2 of Manchester United is Roy Keane and Fergie comes down to meet you. (The scenes)

This sums up the clubs operating methods and the cause of many of the on going problems. Woodward the unofficial DOF., with Matt Judge drawing up the contracts, and deciding on individual pay, instead of a structured wage throughout the playing staff.
Make no mistake Judge welds considerable power at the club and is a person few have heard of or know what role he plays alongside Woodward.

It would be pretty awesome to have Keano back on board in any capacity, absolute legend of the club.

He's done poorly everywhere, players get sick of him rather quickly. He's also one of those who isn't into tactics.

He can't understand how people aren't as driven as he is. He has nothing to pass on sadly after playing under Clough and Fergie. Phenomenal player and club legend.

Where the grass is greener.
This is the exact mentality why the club is rotting. Stuck in the past, using old methods on a totally different generation. So cringeworthy.

Fecking wanting Roy Keane involved with the first team in 2019. Worst thread of the year.

Glazers Out
He can't "teach" his qualities to players. He could lead by example on the pitch but now he's helpless off it.

Today's players will just ignore him, or worse - stop trying and get him sacked asap.

The man's a bully and would try to intimidate and threaten everyone, with that said, I want them all gone so get him appointed for the City game please.

I present, case in point as to why Roy Keane should be allowed to be United assistant for the remaining 4 games only. Stephen Ward's leaked Whatsapp voice recording to the Ireland squad:

Give it up. His style of management doesn’t work. But why should it work. Who’s the Roy Keane at City and Pool?

They would not intimidated by him.
Doesn't matter really, Keane would just punch them in the face and knock em out. I'd say only Lukaku, Matic and Pogba would be safe due to their size.

Martial would go crying to his new fling that he's having an affair with, Lingard would need therapy, Jones would make funny faces and Shaw would go on a binge eating session and gain 10kg of weight.

I don't think Roy is bothered about size, especially if he feels they're soft. There's a story that Rooney changed the channel when they were away one evening for a game the following day. Roy was watching the rugby and Wayne turned it over for X-Factor, Keane went ballistic and Rooney gave him shit back. Rooney went on to say that was the day Keane started respecting him.

Football has changed. Keane would just upset everybody. He’s also got a track record of being a fairly unsuccessful manager and number two...
