Not necessarily the shirt number, but our main Goalkeeper. A poll would be interesting, if one can be added?

And this is who you think rather than who you want. Although feel free to share.

As far as I see, the possibilities are basically

  • De Gea
  • Valdes
  • Cillessen
  • Lloris
  • Cech
  • Handanovic
  • Lindegaard
  • Oblack
  • Begovic
  • Other Dutch GK
  • Other

If a poll is made, feel free to add/remove/improve some of those names.

Valdes and Cillessen appear to be the likeliest possibilities at the moment, but i think you should get Cech if he's available.

Heart says DDG, head says one of Valdes/Lloris/Cech. :(

If not DDG, Bernd Leno. Lloris and Cillessen are not top quality if you ask me. Jan Oblak seems talented, but not experienced enough, if we want to challenge for the title.

It'll be Valdes but Cillessen will get plenty of games too.

Cech looks almost nailed on to go to Arsenal, he would have been my choice but otherwise either give Valdes a go or go for Leno or Handanovic. Not convinced by the others.

If not De Gea then we should do everything possible to get Cech.

Valdes.

His pre-injury form was brilliant so hopefully he's shown our coaching staff that in training. At this age and stage in his career I can't see him wanting to sit on our bench as a number 2.

I think Valdes, with someone like Cillessen as a younger competitor to push him.

It doesnt fill me with confidence though. Both could struggle with the style of the PL. Ideally Cech would be my choice but I think we'll go for a younger option which makes some sense but none of the options are inspiring.

Lloris or Oblak, I'm going to go with Lloris though.

We shouldn't have Valdes as number 1 choice next season.

I think that realistically, we are going to start pre-season with Valdes.
If the pre-season goes well, I think Valdes will be our No.1 GK, for the entire season.
If he is a disaster in pre-season, I can see us going for Lloris or Cillessen, before the transfer window closes.

I am staying strong until anything is confirmed, so I am going with DDG!

i picked lindegaard because i've always liked him, because he's got an attractive wife and because he grew up as a united fan. so i picked him on strictly football purposes, then.

My optimal choice would be Cech but I don't think that's happening.

The most likely answer has to be Valdes. I think it's far more important that money be invested into other areas, and if transfer money is used wisely and we improve our defense, the difference between a great GK and a world class GK becomes negligible. In other words, if we bring in a good RB and land Hummels by some miracle, Valdes will be more than good enough for the next 3-4 seasons.

If we're in for Cech he won't go to Manchester. He's got a young family and Manchester is often viewed (rightly, in my opinion) as a dump by most players.

I think Valdes is good enough to be our number 1. He was good enough for the best club side ever. Then again De Gea is better..it'll be a shame if he goes.

What a load of bollocks
Hardly! It's the main reason your current goalkeeper is leaving. Manchester isn't attractive to foreign wags and Cech already has a young family in London. Why would he choose to go to United over Arsenal at this moment?
