Ashley Young's place in the second leg was never in doubt, so now its a question of Ole playing a 3rd CB in Jones or Rojo and then throwing Dalot on the left as a LWB, or if he just goes 4 at the back. Toothless attack, and the defending switched off and cost us. That felt like a 50-60% effort Barca, and if we do somehow find the back of the net, Barca will just raise their game and throttle us. Gut feeling is they cruise to 0-0 or 1-0 victory at home. Midfield was a positive at least.

I complained about Young pre game. The rebuttal was he’s very good defensively.
I’m glad Young is not available for WestHam. We played well but lack the cutting edge upfront. Lingard or Martial should have started instead of Dalot but I understand the idea, Dalot should have close Suárez down though, he was ball watching for their goal.

Barça are monsters in Camp Nou but if he give good account of ourselves, I will be happy.

We grew into that really well. Barca barely looked threatening tbh. Very proud of some of the players but it's obvious we're just lacking in quality.

Rashford has been poor for a good while now and Lukaku doesn't offer much.

They created feck all. Good performance.

Ashley Young, Ref and bad in the final third. Three reasons we didnt get a better result.

Just lacking a little bit of quality and doesn’t help playing with 10 men. It would be better if Young didn’t play at all. He literally butchered every attack, he’s totally hopeless. A nothing player.

McTominay is my man of the match. What a performance! I mean, I’m not expecting amazing things from him but if he can consistently churn out performances like that then he’ll be a helluva player for us.

Fred showed flashes of talent but still very inconsistent. I’m hoping that he’ll grow into a player for us. You can clearly see there is a good player there.

Overall, I’m really encouraged by what I’ve seen tonight. Yes, we were toothless in attack but we didn’t look like a bunch of fecking donkeys who were scared of the ball. We held our shape and had a clear game plan. We’re a bit short on quality but I’m willing to give Ole 2 seasons to get the squad he wants. I think patience is the key as long as we don’t see feckwittery like starting Young etc next season.

We’ve still got a chance next week and that’s all you need in football.

Young should retire gracefully. If we had someone who can run at players from midfield with close control of the ball (e.g. Hazard, Robben in his glory days), we will definitely win more games. Our strikers are not bad, but feeding on scraps pretty much.

Didn’t go in to the game with any expectations but Barca weren’t that great and feel slightly optimistic that we can get something at the Nou Camp.

Thought Fred was fantastic and Mctominay wasn’t that bad either, but Fred man of the match for me.

Usual Young is terrible section and Lingard once again invisible when he came on. When you’re getting out worked by Martial and that is what you’re supposed to be good at you know you aren’t having a good cameo. Would honestly be pretty happy if he was sold tomorrow for £1

McTominay, Fred and Pogba excellent as a three

Shaw had a good game, as did Smalling and Dalot

Lukaku quiet but is a specialist kind of CF and I feel we never really play to his strengths (not that we should)

Rashford and Young garbage. Lindelof a little shaky also

They were way under par and we still didn't muster a shot on target. Really frustrating.

Tactics were wrong and some of the performances were terrible. Fred and McTominay were great though and by our best players which i think tells you a lot about the game.

I think we all need to consider how badly we would have performed tonight under the previous manager. Hell, we would've been watching PSG vs Barcelona.

Just feels like the lad who got the “i did my best” sticker at sports day. Getting praise for turning up is a sign of how shit we are

Should have made the changes at half time

We're shite. We're a fallen giant that now gets patted on the head and given a gold star for turning up and trying. This isn't Manchester United. This is a sad empty husk of the great club we once were.
That sums it up, given by some of the responses in here

Pretty happy with that tbh. I dont think i could have taken another 90 mins of barcelona playing it back and forth amongst their cb's while we parked 10 players in the box. Especially not this Barcelona. We kept Messi mostly quiet and he created a goal with the only bit of possession he got in or around or box, as he tends to do. Disappointed by our attacking play but think Rashford probably needs to be 100% to trouble this tier of team and he blatantly hasn't been, and I dont think Lukaku is ever going to trouble a team of this quality. So that was kind of expected unfortunately.
Think Fred in particular was bloody brilliant and we really, really, really need to get him used to the league. Theres a gem of a player there.

Barcelona won this deservedly as they created the best chances and played better football going forward. Both teams were pretty mediocre today but our attacking display was horrible yet again. We are in a seriously bad form and we continue to lose games home and away. I have to say i´m very unhappy with the team after another bad performance at home. We had zero shots at goal at home and THAT is pathetic. This team needs a complete overhaul as it is lacking in quality in to many positions. Ole need to turn it around has he and the team has lost 4 out of the last 5 games. We need to get better rapidly or the season will end in a horrible fashion with no CL next year.

No shots on target. Rashford was absolute shit but lasted 85 minutes. Lukaku was playing really good, holding the ball up and causing Barca all kinds of problems and Ole takes him off. Fecking sheer stupidity from Solskjaer.

Strategically Ole set the team in the best possible way. We started a touch slow until we grew into the game.
We pressed them well and barely gave them any chances apart from that shot from Coutinho.
It's quite unfortunate we lost. But the truth is we don't have all the tools to pull it off against one of the best teams in the world.
I said it earlier - swap Young for prime Alves, Fred for prime Busquets/Xabi Alonso and Lukaku for someone of the
Griezmann or Benzema mold. Refereeing was poor (and that's soft).
It is quite clear the state of our club - 5 years of wondering in the wilderness, no clear idea of where the team needs to go,
just blindly following the next appointed manager and the team we end up with is lacking the tools to pull off a very smart
strategic set up.
We missed Hererra or Matic today. Someone to slot in Fred's place, because the Brazilian lad simply doesn't not posess the quality
the job requires. Young is probably scratching lottery tickets day and night not being able to believe his luck for getting another
year in a red shirt.
The game finished when Lingard walked on to the pitch. We didn't have the required personel to keep the system until the last minute and
as soon as we changed formation the game finished. Barca were happy to finish the game as it is and we didn't stand a chance with
the players up front - a lot of potential, but non of our attackers are the complete article, including Lukaku, who was punching
above his weight the entire time he was on the field.
I hope we give a good go at the Nou Camp, but Barca are far above PSG and I doubt we'll be able to pull another miracle.
Fred was one of the best players on the pitch.

Different night, same old embarrassment. I'm tired of us being completely outclassed & parking the bus vs any decent side we face. No shots on target at home is disgraceful.

How the board can stand to show their faces in public after the terrible job they're doing I don't know.

Played in second gear all night and didn't even have to go to third or fourth. Meaningless forward play and endless running by United - 0 shots on target. Absolutely toothless team. Easy ride to the next round.

Think the final third play was awful. That said pretty much controlled the midfield and that was down to Fred and McTominay who were both really good. I didn't really feel threatened from Barcelona who ultimately win via an own goal.

That said we really need to step things up and be more clinical. The final pass was sloppy and the chances we did create, like the Dalot header and Rashford volley were snatched at and wasteful.

At the moment we all know we aren't ready to compete at this level so just enjoy the ride. I'm confident our issues will be addressed in the summer and we will look a more balanced side.

They were fortunate to win on balance. We didn’t have the quality in the final third though, and I struggle to see us out scoring them in Spain, bar a red card to them or something.

We should have scored at least 1 goal. Rashford and Dalot are not going to sleep well tonight.

That being said we bossed it in the 2nd half. 0-1 against the best team in the world.

It is what it is, we all know we have some serious holes in our squad that will be adressed after the season ends. All we need are 2 goals at Camp Nou.. easy peasy

Good performance. This squad is not capable of much better. Stop expecting this squad to deliver performances they do not have the skill to do. And yes, we can do to them what we did to PSG.

And what is it that Ole see in Young that we don't? I was livid when he took Dalot off instead of Young. I don't get it.

First 25 minutes we looked like we were in awe of them. Then we started to match them. True, Barca could have gone up a couple of gears but they were content to contain. Pogba was OK in fits and starts but he never seems to run the midfield in big games. Fred was outstanding and so was McTominay but our forwards lacked guile and composure. Barca allowed us time on the ball; more than your average prem team, but we couldn't take advantage. Can't see us reversing this over there but you never know.

Fred and McTominay were very good. I thought Shaw defended well too. Where was Pogba, why wasn't he available tonight?!

Young is atrocious, Lukaku was pointless and not sure I fully understood what Ole was trying to do with his subs but bottom line is we still couldn't really get close to a first-gear, half-arsed Barcelona team who basically used this fixture to recharge their batteries...

Lack of quality in attack cost us tonight, decent build ups but the final ball and finishing was piss poor. Rashford needs to find some composure again. Lukaku wasnt in the game at all and just doesnt contribute enough. Youngs crossing was really poor. Martial was anoymous when he came on.

Defence and midfield played pretty well keeping barca to only a couple of half chances. Take a bow scott Mctominay, stood out as MOTM for me, he looks a great prospect now and at 22 will only improve. Fred had a decent game too though still looks like he has a costly error in him.

Overall a great effort made but lacked quality in final third.

Can’t remember the last time I saw Barca play so poorly...and to be out passed by them just shows how far behind we are even competing at the top level. Its a sad day to see our players so hopelessly out of their depths...but they all want £300K+ a week so all is not lost!

Disappointing, but not exactly unexpected. We limited to having much really, but unfortunately we had absolutely nothing ourselves. They scored from one of their few chances. I felt like any time we got into a decent position it was just a poor pass or wrong decision. Very wasteful and frustrating in that regard.

Barca played in second gear and got the result they wanted away from home. Didn't even need to break a sweat or come from their second gear, which shows how awful we're.

Also, ridiculous home stat from us this season. One, one! fecking goal in 5 home matches in CL!

Better than I thought we would be, Fred and McTom being the standout players. Pogba proved again that he can't cut it at any level, hope he leaves soon. At the end of the day it's a loss and we're almost certainly out. On to next season..
