Self proclaimed tagline king.
I've played football at a lower level with no coaches involved. It's easy to not look clueless and have a plan as a group. These players lose the plot too easily.
Lack luster, no passion, no urgency, no creativity ...too many average players playing below average levels.... can only think they are knackered from Wednesday... very very disappointing.
It's really that simple, unfortunately. The team that played better defense, created more chances and scored more goals won the match.
I have (played football) and the manager plays a huge role. Looking clueless is easy, especially when you follow certain instructions that aren't working.
Football has become very, very tactical game, put a clueless manager at helm and you will still be average, regardless of what top level players you bring.
I have in my country(pro level).I have also played football, though as I said not at a professional level.
But I can not fathom that a player that has played football for ~15 years will just turn to absolute trash because he's being told to pass the ball over the top rather than play quick passes and triangles? At the end of the day the players are the ones on the pitch carrying the responsibility and placing all the blame on the manager when the squad is ridiculously far from challenging is silly - anyway I thought Phelan was the one in charge of the training sessions and he seemed to do well enough when he coached Fergie's teams?

We have become Bournemouth's b***h last couple of years. Some easy points for them every season.
I have in my country(pro level).
You can't ignore your managers instructions and do what you want.
We saw in the first half the one and the same drill as you said - pass the ball behind the defensive line and usually over the top. This is what you are asked and tasked to do.
Football is a team play, when the forward is asked to run into space and your instructions are to loft it to him, what can you do?
For triangles you need a certain attacking shape. We don't have one. We need players coming close and asking for the ball. We don't do that.
You drill those attacking patterns and you get used to it. We don't do that.
Maguire's form has taken a real dive after a promising start
Yes, Maguire like all new players to the club, including AWB and Dan James, give them time and they will soon be playing 'the United way'.
I was hopeful that these three new players with the starts they have made would bump the rest up to a better standard, but somehow whether its our training methods, or our lack of imagination, lack of skills, or just lack of confidence, it becomes like a morass/swamp which sucks everybody down.
We have to find out how to (quoting D. Trump) "drain the swamp" before it sucks us into the relegation zone.
Can the new manager get 10 new players with him tomorow?
That Portuguiese player was not wanted by Ole...If we don't get some creative players in January we will struggle to finish top ten.
I think that's the lack of leadership around the club.
I don't think he's been dreadful in any way shape or form but his performances have dropped from a consistent 8 to a 6 over the past month and it is a concern. He's just not showing enough in my opinion, his ball playing seems nowhere near as sharp as earlier in the season.
It's quiet simple. Swap the two managers and we would have won the game today. Ole's miles out of his depth and watching Utd these days is worse than getting your toe nails pulled by pliers.
One thing is 100% certain. Ole needs to ship the mediocre players out of the club or he will loose his job.
We certainly have a terrible group right now with no chemistry or guile. At least half the squad is far below the quality expected at this club. You would think players that comfortably plays in the Prem would be able to keep a relatively consistent level? We can't even do the basics right at the moment, basics every other team with all kinds of dross manages to do in no time. Look at Leicester and Rodgers f.ex, how the feck does that happen while we go through manager after manager with little to no progress?
That's enough to tell me it's not the manager (even though Ole might not be the right man for the job long-term), but the fact that the players simply are not good enough, and probably never will be.
Where's the creativity? Where's the sense of direction?
And I don't understand why late in the game when we were given a free kick around 25-30 yards out we decided to take a quick free kick rather than set something up. Rashford just scored a 35 yarder just a few days ago and we waste a free kick from that area???
He won't (this season), because he has been assured by Woodie that his job is safe.
So, Ole will keep losing and won't feel any pressure. When he gets fired due to poor performance, he will say that he is very surprised and did not see this coming.
Woodie has a history of backing the manager publicly, then behind his back line up a replacement.
How can we not take a corner? It is one of the basics of football. Why can't we take a good throw in?Have you not seen any of our 10 corners today? Or the corners for the good past year?
