Very good attacking play from United, more fluidity. This gives Jose food for thought on who he plays as his striker when all are fit.

Thoroughly enjoyed our performance. No aimless crossing, but an attempt to pass and move all game. Great fluidity from all of our forward players, who were also all very comfortable on the ball.

The Big 9 is what PL teams like Everton are trained to defend against. Passing and movement is far more challenging for them.

More like that second half please. Thought everyone played well. The attack was excellent in the second half. Pogba was exceptional in the second half, did pretty much everything right. He is far more effective when played more forward than his usual role. Hopefully we build from this performance.

Also lovely goals from Lingard and Martial.

Creative agile nimble players playing intricate passes to open the defence up, modern football. As opposed to a big lump up top in the middle and swinging aimless crosses in. More of that please Jose.

brilliant at times

freeing up Pogba was the key - we grew in confidence as the game went on and a good win against Derby and we will see the confidence grow

Lukaku would love to have Pogba playing that role behind him

More like it in the second half. Rooney is still deluded if he thinks he's a midfielder.
But he's sooo good at finding space and picking passes.

According to the commentators

Promising formation today. If you had that midfield three but with a classy passer in place of Hererra i think that could really work.
Indeed and this formation needs two more players to work, shaw playing consistently like he did today and little stronger player in place of Mata, although his shot off the post was a good one.

Play Pogba further up the pitch! Looked a completely different player today

Pogba was exceptional, which is no surprise when he gets to attack and control. It begs the question, why the hell did he play low against a bad Southampton-side?

Wayne Rooney was the worst player on the pitch, so bad he should just retire and get it over with. Tons of bad passes, gifted us the first goal and otherwise bad decisions.

Much better but not brilliant. Still need to be more clinical in front of goal but Martial did better there.
The point that Carragher made, that different players popping up on the left certainly gave them problems. Pogba was outstanding. Shame his wonderful skill wasn’t rewarded with a goal.
Hope the team kicks on from here.

FFS Jose, smile now and again will you!

Cant help to think that we play a lot more enjoyable football when we dont have a big centerpiece that everone is trying to shower with inaccurate crosses.

First time in quite a while that i enjoyed watching us for the actual performance.

Result doesn't matter to me anymore and the football was delightful. More of the same please. Martial, Shaw and Pogba are musts in the first XI.

Great to win again. Pogba really stepped up in second half excellent from him. The way we play is still dire going forward a lot of the time, but at least with a 4-3-3 we will be solid. Rojo and Shaw played really well today too.

I wasn't happy with the first half. We were too passive and allowed Everton to play out without any pressure. Second half in the first 20 minutes we stepped it up and made our superior quality count. Why don't we put pressure on teams like that? It's obvious that sitting back and inviting pressure to hoof balls isn't our game. We have players capable of playing good football and I thought we showed that today.

Not been many better performances than that all season. Certainly not since August or September. Goodison is always right up for our visit and we fully merited a win and a clean sheet.

Delighted with our approach and performance. We were disciplined and structured first half and ultimately eased into control of the game. Once we had the midfield, we gave our best players the licence to win the game. None of this nonsense of just throwing as many attackers into the game as we could. Lingard was a delight, ditto Pogba who was essentially playing left wing for much of the second half.

Derby at home as the only game for two weeks offers us the chance to send a fading Matic off for some recuperation, as well as a few more of the boys like De Gea, Jones and one or two others.

I'll help keep things on track with previous threads so people don't get carried away: "Sack Jose, hire Giggs. We're shit because City are top of the table"

3 man midfield the best way to utilisr Pogba. Hence a decent backups are needed. Probably another additions in January?

Stopping the rot was the primary objective tonight and the lads stepped up and delivered. Huge 3 points.

Pogba pulled the strings in midfield, Martial feeding off him and combining really well with Shaw. The latter was practically a second winger tonight - his best showing since returning from injury for me. Very promising indeed. Lingard industrious as ever, added buckets of energy in attack and consistently offered intelligent movement inside the box. A constant threat all night long.

Need to kick on now and rack up some points. Many of our lads are playing for their United careers, if it means anything to them now is the time to show it.

Nice way to start 2018. Let's keep it up.

Pogba showing all his talents today. Lovely to see Martial score. Jesse Messi again:drool: Shout out to Mata and Shaw as well. Lindelof grew into the game, was better than I thought he'd be in that position.

3 man midfield is the way to go. Still need to improve, but good confidence builder for us.

We need to build on this performance and not resort back to hoof balls. Most of our players can play ball - just give them the right structure and then let their talents do the rest.

Finally, was good to see after the negativity, the players came out, fight, and give a good solid performance. They deserved the win.

Immense 2nd half. Its got to be said, the movement and fluidity without Lukaku was beautiful to watch. No more pointless hoofballs. Fascinating stuff.
The thing is we can do that WITH Lukaku so there's no excuse really.

Very well played, credit to Jose for switching to 4-3-3 though could have done it before those draws. I want to see Martial get a run of games in this position and Lukaku can take the bench and can come on if things aren't working.

Only concern was Matic, he looked exhausted towards the end of the game. But Herrera came good and that could help Matic save some energy.

Must admit, Lingards celebration made me laugh when I watch it back. Shooshing the Everton fans and looking so triumphant.

I'd hate him if he wasn't a United player.

Awful first half, much better in the second. Important 3 points, hope we can carry on like that.

Say what you want, but aside from the goals, the performance wasn’t much different from the past couple of games.

Make of that what you will.
That second half was the best we've been in monthsm . We dominated at Goodison.

We were decent in the first half, but the game was more divided. The way we started the second one was excellent, there was only one team on the field. Fully deserved victory.

Although playing against Rooney and Morgan really helped us. They were both dire to be kind. I got mad when Rooney was subbed cause him in midfield made it easy for us. Although no Sigurdson and weird subs from them too.

Playing three in the mid sounds more defensive, but it allows Pogba more freedom, which makes us better offensively.

Hope we play with three again against Stoke.

Getting 3 points again feel so fecking good! The 2nd half minus a 6-7min spell was among the best we've played all season, having 3 in the middle makes such a huge difference.

Good performance considering the short turn around, admittedly helped by Everton being garbage for large portions of the game. Wasn't confident going into the game so it was nice to see something resembling a reaction from the team and hopefully something we can build on.
Everton were devoted to shape and discipline. Total park bus routine, seven or eight across the back, and a shield in front of them. It was windy and difficult conditions. The ref let a lot of rough stuff go. The lads did very very well.

Bitter sweet result. Glad we won but Lawro predicted a 2-0 United win. Love it when he doesn't get all the points.
