We gave them too much of the ball. I was never worried for the result but it's not exactly too entertaining in a home game towards the end.

Decent cameo from Mkhitaryan.

Pogba excellent. Fellaini too.

Bailly, Shaw and Blind really good again.

Rooney..meh. Ibra wasn't amazing but a great goal.

It WAS a fun match.

After 3 years of hibernation, the red devil finally wakes up. With a bit more composure from the young Martial, the score could be 4-0.

Feck yeah we played with purpose and will. Hasn't seen that since SAF left. Gosh it's good to feel positive again. We're gonna win the league!

Bailly, Pogba, Zlatan. Looks like we did a great job in the summer and Miki will be fantastic too, no doubt about that :)

6 points, can't ask for more. Maybe start Miki in the next game and drop Rooney and give Pogba the freedom as most advanced midfielder, he showed today why :)

Getting the swagger back that we lost a few years ago.

Good performance again, not great but hardly any negatives really.

It's great having "power" individuals in Zlatan and Ibra - they are just in a league of their own.
Bailly and Blind were great again, so was Shaw and Valencia. The back 4 was fantastic today.

Fellaini did his job, no complaints. Recycled the ball well.
Rooney was dire until his assist - after that he just went invisible.
Martial grew into the game, just needs that bite back.

This is the difference between Mourinho and van Gaal. The other team might enjoy more possesions, they might have a goalscoring chance or two more than us but at the end of the day, all that matters is that we get more clear cut chances than them because we're simply better.

I had this amazing realisation at about 75 minutes where I knew we were going to win. No panicking that we'll shit the bed and have to hang on, the game was dead. We knew it, Saints knew it, it was glorious.

The really strange thing is that we have signed 4 players and they all look like quality.

Pogba, what a beast of a player. Ibra, just class up front.

Big shout out to Fellani. Was never a fan but Jose's turned him into a proper player. Great intensity and a clean sheet at home! OT to be a fortress again, thanks Jose.

Solid 7/8 from everybody. Completely in control the whole time, with some tasty moments from time to time. Mostly from Pogba. Fantastic performance, all round.

Very impressed with Pogba. Didn't expect him to be so good.

Another two goals by Ibra, impressed too.

Rooney is shit as always, but better than he was against Bournemouth

Mhki made some good moves, hope he gets more playing time.

Fellaini has played good.

Impressed with Valencia, played extremely well. Shaw too.

Mata played decently.

Martial made some good runs, but was kinda poor.

All in all, the dreadful football from the past three seasons seems to be gone. Our team is a lot more fluid and we haven't even started the season yet (not literally). Our attacks are way more potent and the playing style of Mourinho is starting to bear fruit.

I have no complains except that Rooney is still playing for some reason.

A win!

A good chunk of the 2nd half we played nice football.

Pogba was much needed pace in CM. Ibra is a match winner. Shaw and Valencia were great in attack.

I did not like our defensive shape. They had the wings to themselves. Mata and Martial were too narrow.

Good performances all-around. We had it easy once we were two goals up and played some very nice stuff. Tougher tests ahead but I can't help but be very optimistic.

So powerful he's like twice a normal player.

Most pleasing thing for me is, Martial looking like himself in the 2nd half. Going to be so important this season.

What we all knew is getting confirmed match after match, Rooney is out of his depth with the new players we have. Technically he is the worst of the team now and easily so.

Not the finished article yet, but plenty good enough for most teams in the league right now. That is a team that will bully the opposition, but has technical skill to back it up.

Plenty of potential for improvement too, but some things stand out. Paul Pogba is a player made for the premier league. Bailly is as good a young defender as anywhere in the league, hes been my most impressive signing of them all, I expect Zlatan to be good, he is living up to it, Bailly is far better than anyone thought though, which is why I rate him highest.

I think Zlatan will score 20+ this and next season before he goes

Feel like we got our club back, We won without moving into 3rd gear!
First time in soo long that I felt our team was unbeatable, that we were in charge of our own destiny and that we had plenty in the tank.

I've moaned plenty about Jose's tactics in the matchday thread, but a terrific results and moreover, it's so good to have a few players who are genuinely a delight to watch. The likes of Martial, Pogba and Ibra are footballers who have elite ability and it's great to have a bunch of them at United now, including Mkhitarian who I can't wait to see more of. And despite my moaning about us sitting back, I bloody love watching counter attacking football. We need balance it out a bit and play more on the front foot for me, but the lukes of Pogba and Martial are terrific to watch when they're running into space.

Should have been 4-2, we missed some excellent chances (Martial, Pogba) but gave away too many (Long).
