Two tough games for us. Hopefully City are lethargic and shite.

Back in the days we used to have three rounds between Boxing Day and New Year's. The soft snowflake social media Fortnite generation of footballers have cried about congestion and managed to cut it down to two. What has happened to the beautiful game?

Amen mate, no doubt Mary Earps had something to do with it - and Gary Lineker.

They are yet again amongst the teams with the most rest over Christmas so the crybabies are instead moaning about a fixture change in February. Goofy will be all over this in due course.

This has to be the lamest 'derby' to exist. English fotball has such rich history, why the need to try and con us with made up rivalries between teams that are 2 hour train ride apart?

It actually means a hell of a lot locally, on paper it might not make sense, but in reality it's quite heated amongst fans.

I wouldn't say the distance should factor into whether it's a derby. Chelsea and Leeds hate each other.

Much better from Olise there.

Brighton injuries hampering them quite a bit, they look really average.

Distance definitely matters in defining a derby. Rivalries can exist outside derby fixtures though.
That’s true, it’s just a different label really. Chelsea v Leeds isn’t a derby, it’s one helluva rivalry though. It’s why we can’t just call Palace v Brighton a made up rivalry () when that rivalry actually means a lot to the two clubs

Fair enough. I just assumed derby and rivalry were synonyms of one another and putting 'local' in front of either word is what makes the distance relevant. Semantics at the end of the day really. If two sets of fans hate each other then that's all that matters.

Hodgson has said he doesn't recall this being a rivalry while growing up as a Palace fan. And he has been around since forever so I'm assuming he knows what he's talking about.

So I'm just making it up? You can argue all you want but plenty of football fans in England are aware of the rivalry between the two sets of supporters, even if you want to claim otherwise. Odd stuff.

It only started in the 70s, so he would have been in his 30s by then.

Exceptional header by Welbeck. They needed that as they're on a bad run in the league, only 2 wins in their last 12 games including this.

We were linked with Bart Verbruggen but ended up signing Altay Bayindir instead.
What happened to steele? He was doing well when he got into the team and exactly what i expected a team like brighton to have. Decent keeper and calm with the ball. This new guy seems like a downgrade every time I've seen him play for them
