Nope Matic deserved a red for that. You can't charge at a player like that, he'd clearly lost control. The challenge by Barnes is irrelevant, although does deserve retrospective punishment.

That should be more than pitiful three games for Matić. What an idiot.
Don't think it'll get rescinded because it was very aggressive, but that was an entirely appropriate reaction IMO. Atrocious tackle - the kind that end careers if you're unlucky.
I wonder how you'd react in the heat of the moment if a fellow 'professional' had just tried to snap your leg and potential ruin your career.
