Amazing….Jesus great on crosses, who would have thought...
What an extremely ignorant take on Livepools season. The manager shat the bed over one injury. They were well in the race in the first half of the season and were top after Christmas.
Majority of the season? What an extremely ignorant take on Livepools season.
One injury?
VVD out for the season
Ox out for 4 months
Matip out for around 6 in total
Thiago out for 4 months
Hendo out for 3 months
Alisson out for 2 months
Naby out for 4 months
Fabinho out for 3 months
Jota out for 3 months
Lots of fringe players out for 1-2 months (Origi, Tsimikas, Jones, Milner etc.)
That's Nearly half of Liverpools 'key' players out for a majority of the season- to say Klopp 'shat the bed over one injury' is madness.
So not "one injury" thenMajority of the season?
Allison played 33 of 38 league games.
Fabinho 30 of 38.
That's almost the entire season played, the exact opposite of "majority missed".
Thiago played 24 of 38.
Henderson 21 of 38.
Jota 19 of 38.
That's half or more of the season. Hardly "majority missed", especially in Jota's case, as Mane, Firmino and Salah were available pretty much every week.
I'd argue that only Fabinho and Allison (outside of van Dijk) count as key players from that list, and they played practically every game. A bit of an argument for Henderson too, but even he played over half the season.
As I've said, Liverpool paid the price for expecting injury prone players to stay fit. Ox, Keita and Matip are by no means key players anyway, but it was hardly a surprise that they picked up injuries.
The one injury that affected the team was van Dijk because that's the one Klopp started pissing about with lineups and what positions players were in to cover for. He shat the bed with it.
…So not "one injury" then

It’s pretty standard to have injuries mount up over a season. This might be a bit of a shock with how lucky you’ve been in the years before. So not "one injury" then
The data is there now. I've read somewhere Liverpool have amassed 32 out of 36 league points since the return of our walking wounded in March 2021. This does not include VvD, Gomez or Matip until recently of course.I guess you can view Liverpool’s prospects in two ways.
1. Last season proved they were a busted flush and the so-called injuries were just a smokescreen for more deep-rooted issues that eventually came home to roost. More of the same is highly likely and top 4 is the best they’ll do this time
2. Last season was an anomaly with a freak set of injuries that disrupted what had been an extremely well constructed team; the only English side to win the PL and CL in the past 3 seasons - something that can’t be ignored given the key players are all still there.
I guess we’ll know which was the better analysis by May…if not before.
Exactly my point that if anything, last season highlighted Liverpool’s luck over the seasons because injuries are a normal part of any campaign. In other words no one would mention that Manchester United could not win the league in XYZ campaign because of injuries or Sheffield got relegated in XYZ campaign because of injurues. I have only heard the injury reason mentioned with Liverpool. No fault of theirs, it just shows how good they have been with preventing injuries. It’s pretty standard to have injuries mount up over a season. This might be a bit of a shock with how lucky you’ve been in the years before.
lucky pool
While we’re talking about being disingenuous. Rhys Williams started 7 league games. 5 of them right at the end of season. Of which they won all 5.This one injury claim is disingenuous at best. They were playing Phillips and Rhys Williams at CB, for the large part of the season.
How many fecking Liverpool fans are on here? Jesus, I thought there was a cull.
I'd have more sympathy if it wasn't something we'd been through ourselves a thousand times before. Loads of clubs have injury crises, no one squawks about it as loudly as Liverpool fans. We finished top of the injury table 3 years in a row with Mourinho but I don't remember all the Scousers on RedCafe leaping to our defence then. Are we really questioning if injuries had an effect on Liverpool last season? I get that we cannot know if they would have challanged last year, or if they will bounce back this year, but they obviously got done badly by injuries. Anyone not admitting that is disingenuous. Imagine us just missing Maguire, Lindelof and Bailly for pretty much the entire season, do we really think we would have gotten anywhere near top four then? And that's not even mentioning the major injuries they had in their midfield.
I didn't say you only had one injury. I said you had one injury that fecked the team. Matip, Gomez, Keita and Ox could all be expected to be out for some length of time as they're permacrocks. Matip actually played more games last season than your title winning season. Van Dijk being out shouldn't have fecked your season in the manner it did, but your manager shat it so you ended up having a long spell of relegation form.So not "one injury" then
It's more like having Maguire, Jones and Bailly as your Total number of senior cbs lucking out one season and then feeling hard done when the inevitable happens. No sympathy sorry. Are we really questioning if injuries had an effect on Liverpool last season? I get that we cannot know if they would have challanged last year, or if they will bounce back this year, but they obviously got done badly by injuries. Anyone not admitting that is disingenuous. Van Dijk and Gomez were both freak injuries, and once you have 2 main centerbacks get season ending injuries the season is already fecked.I'm more interested in why they had so many injuries in the first place. Was it purely bad luck or was it down to putting too much workload on the players or bad medical management?
Holding and Mari will have 120M in their pockets this afternoonTweet

I honestly think we will make top four even in that situation. Seasons where Liverpool had 90 plus points, I recall that their lack of injuries was a much discussed subject on this forum. Klopp is among my best managers in Europe for me and I laud him for achieving a lot with not much but he would not be able do this without the unusual fitness levels many of his key players have demonstrated over the years. Are we really questioning if injuries had an effect on Liverpool last season? A tad insensitive. He could have some issues that may not be a joking matter.Probably brought on by the thought of facing Lukaku
He has probably tested positive for Covid.A tad insensitive. He could have some issues that may not be a joking matter.
Only banter because of the White v Varane thing started by TalkshiteA tad insensitive. He could have some issues that may not be a joking matter.
He played 19 games, including 6 Champions League games. That's one-third of the season. While we’re talking about being disingenuous. Rhys Williams started 7 league games. 5 of them right at the end of season. Of which they won all 5.
