PSG's younger players are the ones who display the most maturity weirdly.

Juventus is a big club in Europe with a huge tradition, many Ballon d'Ors and fantastic players. You have had many ex players in their managment over the years which means whoever comes to play for them will always respect the club. PSG tries to do the same thing but doesn't come close.
For instance, the players arrived late because the club allowed them to in the return leg vs Man United which isn't ideal for preparing a big game like that, they took it way too easily.
You also have all the special treatments that are afforded to their biggest stars, little details like that add up.

They really should just hire Rafa and get done with it.

He's perfect for them. Will plan for weeks against knockout opponents and the team's quality will get them through the league.

No way he's going to get them knocked out in embarrassing fashion every year because the team isn't prepared.

Another example: That was against Lille and few days before the important CL away match in Napoli.

I think Juve have a naturally defensive style that allows them to translate it well in Europe. PSG are an attacking team, and it's all very well to thrash St Etienne and Nantes 5-0 and 6-0. But in Europe, they don't seem to adjust to the higher level of challenge provided by other teams. Even underdogs like Porto (in comparison to PSG) are more dangerous in the CL.

In contrast, Juve are used to winning 1-0 even against the likes of Chievo, though obviously they can attack if required. They have a cautious style as it is and thus don't need to make changes in Europe as it suits continental football.

This is also why we shouldn't bother about playing style in cup competitions. I just want to see pretty football in the league which is played on a more frequent basis. I don't care if we long ball our way to the CL final.

They're just not that good tbh. A 41 year old Buffon is going to make mistakes. They had 4 (?) cb's in their team against us, 2 of which looked pretty mediocre over the 2 legs. Playing marquinho's in midfield made a fair bit of sense against Pogba, but he was redundant in the second leg. Dani Alves isn't a serious CL knockout level player anymore. Draxler was ... tidy. Cavani, Neymar, Mbappe is a scary front line but there's nothing behind it. Veratti and Silva look top tier players, their inability to have an impact in any serious competition has to make you a bit sceptical though. The rest looks just about functional.

The older and more experienced ones are all mercenaries. Top of the list is that cnut Alves who was showboating in the first half. Then you have captain Silva who thinks they are bigger than United. Then of course Di Maria - the definition of a fair weather player.

I would include Neymar, but he is still on his spring break with his sister.

The facts don’t support your claim, though: Juventus has scored 75 goals in the league, in 27 games - 2.8 goals per game. PSG is at 79 in 26 games - 3.0 goals per game. Hardly significant, and definitely not 5-0 vs 1-0. PSG beat Saint-Etienne (your example) with 1-0 btw, whereas Juventus won 3-0 against Chievo. So your feelings about either don’t align with reality.

I was talking about the overall picture and naming lesser teams just as an example. In general, Juve have a more defensive style than PSG and mostly go for 1-0s and 2-0s. Defensive sides can certainly score more goals -- number of goals scored does not imply a better attacking style, and neither did I imply that Juve have never won a game 4-0 or 3-0.

Prime example would be our 4-0s last season. Does not mean we were an attacking side under Jose.

    I agree completely.

My point was to show that its not the uncompetitive league that is the problem. They are other factors in consideration, like you mentioned.

Ahem. Arsenal finished 4 points off the top that season and led the league in February by a few points.

As others have said, there is no competition in that league for them, and there wont be for many years.
Apart from money, I have no idea why anybody would want to sign for them if they had other options to pick from.

As a PSG fan, I like our squad who just need some minor adjustments and to include more diversity. The club has not been founded in the 14th century but we have a stable and harmonious core of players who played together since several years. Our football brand combines collective possession with sharp offensive players. In the last seasons, we recruited Dani Alves and Buffon to change the mindset and add experience BUT the issue is they are not so young..

    What we have

    - players to score goals against any team: YES
    - players to create: YES
    - players to counter-attack if necessary: YES
    - players for possession: YES
    - experience as a team: YES
    - long-standing experience in Champions League: YES
    - experienced players: YES
    - right coach: YES

    What we need

    - More hunger and more diversity in defence: we absolutely to add 2 bad boys with a high sense of sacrifice and a pure winning mentality. In terms of mindset, players like Diego Godin, Lucas Hernandez, Chiellini... Hard-working subs are the welcome too. Players whose main quality is to destroy/defend.

    - More maturity: the offensive players didn't defend at Anfield and lost there. That said, Verratti wasn't there.

    - Stop to panick under pressure because the club is under pressure because the Champions League is the only once competition that matters for everybody
**** A coach who feels pressure makes strange tactical choices in Champions League made in the last years: Blanc with his unproven 3-5-2 at Ettihad stadium, Emery with his unproven midfield at Santiago Bernabeu, Tuchel with a a right side Kehrer/Dani Alves/Draxler unable to provide width (left-footed draxler, old Dani as a midfielder, Kehrer is a not a pure RB)...
***** The positioning of defence overly close to the goalkeeper: see Chelsea and Barcelona away
***** We conceded very stupid goals against Barcelona, Real Madrid and Manchester United. The mark of a team which loses

-Luck: next time to have the 4 key players fit at the same time next time: Cavani, Neymar, M'bappé, Verratti

    Mercato

Contrary to some clubs like Real Madrid, we don't have to deeply review our offensive strategy.

In concrete terms, Draxler/Kurzawa/Rabiot/Kehrer are not made/ready for the great battles at the moment. Meunier is a strange case but we should renew his contract. Choupo-Moting is a happy sub while I would prefer an hungry sub.

We can't change the domestic competitive landscape, which is a burden. The players are programmed to win 4-0 around 50 games at home and away against any we French clubs. So, when the scenario is to "play in a conservative manner and manage a good result", it's we are just "inexperienced".

We can win the Champions League next season without recruiting a big name. No doubts about that.

Need to have a break from football discussions and focus on some personal issues and challenges.

    See you next season

Would welcome Kimpembe at United with open arms. Extremely gifted CB and athlete. Almost impossible to beat him 1-on-1.

Now they're trying to get us kicked out of the CL because Greenwood had his number printed at the PSG store and had a PSG logo inside the number instead of a United one. Rules state that all numbering must be unified.

I love the level of petty this is going to. They'll try and hurt us in the summer like they did to Barcelona by taking Neymar. Expect a massive bid for one of our best players.

Sorry, but the argument that the french league is hurting PSG doesn't make any sense...Monaco reached CL semifinals a couple of years of ago,Marseille reached the final in Europe League a couple of years ago, Lyon beated Manchester City away the last year (when citizens were 1st place in Premier League), and in a couple of days Lyon have the chance to take Barcelona out of the Champions League (they just need a draw with goals scored to do it, and Barcelona's defense is not looking good for European competitions).

So, there is more than just 'french league is hurting them'.

I think they need hungrier players, not great players past their peak that only go to PSG for the paycheck (Dani Alves and Buffon).
I still don't understand what was the reason to get Buffon, i mean...he is 41...sure he was great, but he is too old now and past his peak. There was no reason to buy him, Areola was the least guilty for PSG eliminations in Champions League. At least if your gonna buy a GK to replace Areola, get the likes of Oblak,Courtuois,Handanovic, etc, why get a great GK past his peak? There is a reason why he left Juventus, and it was not because he though he would win Champions League playing for PSG.

Also, their defense looks pretty weak for a team that pretend to win the CL, Thillo Kherer,Kimpbembe,Thiago Silva,Marquinhos...please, that doesn't look like a defensive line to win the throphy. And the fact that they bought a 41 years old Goalkeeper doesn't help either.

All these clubs had competition in Ligue 1.....PSG are miles ahead of the other clubs.

And yes there a couple more reasons why PSG are struggling in the CL knock-out rounds.

Imagine playing in a league where winning the title by 20 points isn't considered a success and if you get knocked out of the CL, there's no way it would be a successful season.

It's so fecking crazy. What's even crazier is that was always the case and Neymar STILL went there. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say Neymar is on at least €100m/year from his PSG wage and the offshore City-type dealings they have with him.

What’s the feeling with the owners? Is this a long term project for them? Or will they piss off once the World Cup is over.

Sadly the sheikhs at Man City look likely to stay for a while. I just don’t get that same feeling with PSG owners.

As we might get excited about Champions League tonight and fantastic result for Juventus, we should also note PSG won against might Dijon 4-0, sending a massive statement.
