Well the comforts of your country makes you forget thousands of lives it claims everyday as well so I'm not surprised! The joy in these fans has suddenly made me forget about human rights violations and workers deaths all of the sudden!
Often at these events it's like show up for a party pick a color and dance. It's just to create hype for the world cupDid they actually think people wouldn't see right through these clearly staged rent-a-fan videos?
Great work with the sarcasm detectorWell the comforts of your country makes you forget thousands of lives it claims everyday as well so I'm not surprised!
So true, WSL United vs Arsenal in 7 days. Solid attacking football on top of the league, can't wait.7 more days then the talking and moping can stop and we can enjoy some good football.
Majority seem south asian, and judging by the beat of the drums it's probably around 95% pakistani/indian/BangladeshiAre these locals dressed up?
You must be a detectiveNone of those are real fans.
True I’ll be watching that as well as the World Cup. Our girls have started well albeit the loss to Chelsea but we look good this year.So true, WSL United vs Arsenal in 7 days. Solid attacking football on top of the league, can't wait.
This post was paid for by QatarYou guys are being overly obtuse about this. This whole charade is just something to get the whole buzz going. We’ve seen with global events in that region that atmosphere isn’t lacking, be it UFC or F1, they’ve all been fantastic spectacles. The Arab cup was played there just a year ago, and the stadiums were packed as much as they could be(not expected to be full) the atmosphere was great and everyone who watched it enjoyed it. Mejbri played in that tourney and a lot on here watched it too. The World Cup will be a good one, I remember many on here moaning about how bad SA2010 would be and that was an amazing WorldCup. Just relax and enjoy what is about to come. 7 more days then the talking and moping can stop and we can enjoy some good football.
Now that's the spirit mate and on top of that girls don't need a banner or statist parade for that.True I’ll be watching that as well as the World Cup. Our girls have started well albeit the loss to Chelsea but we look good this year.
Yeah, its Russian style propaganda.Something just feels strange about those videos, chants and fans.
The banner the French fans are holding says they are an Indian French football fan club.Fan battle is heating up.
The entire thing feels like a bad fever dream. Why is Qatar hosting the World Cup? Qatar. I want off this timeline.Something just feels strange about those videos, chants and fans.
I can't put my finger on it.Something just feels strange about those videos, chants and fans.
Agree. I've seen it a lot too.The idea of people supporting other nation seems weird for you, but for the majority of Asian country which has no representatives of their own and never will be for a foreseeable future, supporting a European powerhouse fanatically is the norm. It's quite normal

Would probably have lots of issues too. The Delhi 2010 CWG did.India would probably put on a good world cup.
Majority seem south asian, and judging by the beat of the drums it's probably around 95% pakistani/indian/Bangladeshi
Yes exactly. This is probably the best opportunity so far, for football fans from the Indian sub continent to be at a world cup.The drums and rhythm sound a lot like from the sub continent, just looks like some sub continental fans picking a team and getting together.
Qatar is so much more than just football.Fans are already in Qatar, while players are playing their last matches before joining their NT's? Those are some rich fans...
You’re not allowed to say that here. Football fans do not exist outside of Europe. You have been paid by Qatar. Feck off!Yes exactly. This is probably the best opportunity so far, for football fans from the Indian sub continent to be at a world cup.
Now more than ever, it is required.Something I haven't considered yet, but with the tournament being in Qatar, will there be a babe watch thread?
No doubt but I think there's a lot of potential to grow football in India like in Japan/Korea in 2002 or USA in 94. If done properly it could boost the infrastructure around certain cities and be a positive for the country.Would probably have lots of issues too. The Delhi 2010 CWG did.
Any country would be better than Qatar where it’s too hot to even play football. No doubt but I think there's a lot of potential to grow football in India like in Japan/Korea in 2002 or USA in 94. Unfortunately FIFA pockets most of the money so there isn't a whole lot to gain for the country.
It's Slightly better than North Sentinel IslandAny country would be better than Qatar where it’s too hot to even play football.
Why can’t South Asians simply travel to wherever the WC is held ?As a 50 year old born in South Asia but grew up in UK I would love to be at this WC.
Just so I could sample the atmosphere of a WC, leaving all politics aside.
As a brown Asian male who came to the UK in the 70's racism was a massive issue going to football matches. Moreso England ones.
I did a project for the under 21 euros in the early 2000's where we took a load of youngsters to and England v Portugal match at the Brittannia stadium. These were black, Asian, chinese kids who were going to a tournament for the first time. We had to be security escorted out because of the abuse from England fans. These kids were all England supporters too. All the way to the bus abuse was shouted and a cordon of security had to escort us. Most of the kids crying especially the girls. Even the white kids amongst us were in tears and frightened.
In Asian and African countries football is massive. My own relatives back where I'm from stay up at ridiculous hours to follow their team. These guys are going to their first tournament in their lives (some are in their 30's and 40's. Because despite the bribery and LGBTQ+ issues they feel safe travelling.
Some have already travelled and will be staying there throughout. They are huge fans. It's an opportunity of a little fetimenfor some. Probably never to be repeated and future WC will be a televised event for them.
As I say outside of the politics etc this is huge for people from South Asia. The culture and things like food and a feeling of safety is massive for them. Would be for me too if I could have gone.
I understand what some folks issues in UK etc are but don't underestimate the passion and opportunity this is for some.
Sorry for the lecture. And it maybe a set up what we have seen in the above vids. But at the same time there are genuine fans just from South Asia who will be attending and supporting teams with fervour and passion.
