Rasmus Hojlund - Linked to Inter

Don't know why people are surprised by the link. Serie A sides have made a business of signing cast-off Premier League players on the cheap and building success off them. Countless from the last 5 years, A.Young, Darmian, RLC, Tomori, Abraham, Mhikitaryan, Pulisic, Giroud all have played roles in the bigger teams (most winning titles) since moving there.

Hojlung would fit that description perfectly.
Yeah, I’ve said before most of the players that have left United in the last 5-10 years and actually done reasonably well have done so in Italy (McTominay is another). It’s a different league, seems a bit easier.

A loan and then a sale the following year would be something we can realistically hope for.

It's not about being easier I think. All those players have played in the later parts of the UCL as well, I think the level of coaching is better.

I think with European games though, the intensity, especially in the knockout phases, feels like a rarer thing for players whereas in England it’s virtually every week you have to play very demanding football. The likes of Mkhitaryan was always far better playing in the Europa League for us than the premiership.

As you say, maybe it’s a coaching thing too, but it seems strange to me that very few players have left United and gone on to win big trophies recently, except in Italy.

I agree.
funny thing is that lots of their sIgnings are players over 30 and without contracts. United fans lose their mind when we sign a player who is 28 or 29 years old. If player can't play for club next 10 years......."too old, don't want".
Are they spending £50m, £60m, £70m on those old players though?

These hysterical fans who say "too old, don't want" were the fans who questioned the wisdom of spunking so much money on the likes of Matic and Casemiro to rebuild our midfield and I think they were ultimately proved correct in their concerns.

He should jump at the chance the join a great club like Inter. Less pressure for lad with Martinez and Thuram ahead of him. Maybe a chance for him to develop.

They'll get him for £2.50 and we'll watch him battle it out with Lukaku and McTominay for the golden boot next year

Dont even negotiate.

Even if theyve offered an empty packet of Quavers.

Accept and move on from this historically awful signing.

There will be no shortage of Utd fans who will personally help him pack and drive him to the airport.
It's in Milan, so it least get a pack of Pepperidge Farms Milano Dark Chocolate Biscotti

He's been worse than completely wank, but i don't have faith he'll stay that way. I think a loan could be smart.

We bought him for his pace and power at (something apparently Amorim wants), and ability to get in behind and run channels, and when we played to those strengths last year he scored 1 in 3. Decent for debut year.

We’ve completely changed that now and never play any transition at pace, and he looks shite.

We have basically cut Samson’s hair off.

Months.

And it turns out that Lukaku would be 10 times better solution for us than all our strikers after him.
Hindsight is a bitch isn't it? He was crap at the time and we were relieved to see the back of him. Unfortunately, we always find inventive ways to become even worse.

Yeah, that is a myth. Do you know how many goals he scored for us in first season? 27.
Next season we sacked Jose and Solskjaer benched him because he had a vision that Rashford can be top no9.

Revisionism. He didn't bench him, he put him on the wing. And he played Martial as the 9, who actually as far as all round game goes was a better player.
Then next season Lukaku showed up overweight and was training with Anderlecht during pre season. There's a reason he's gone through clubs like candy since he's left. Partly because he is limited despite being a reliable goalscorer and his attitude sucks.

Lukaku was absolutely dreadful in the first half of the second season, very similar to how Hojlund has performed this season. That was under Mourinho. He was also mouthing off in the media basically blaming everyone else, despite him being comfortably the worst performing player in the team (indeed he was almost certainly the worst performing player in the league). He absolutely deserved to be dropped.

After being dropped, Ole slowly bought him back in and he did perform a bit better in the last few months of the season. Still wasn't good or anything, but he wasn't the complete negative on the team that he'd been earlier on. We then sold him and banked on Martial who was much better than Lukaku (for one season until injury destroyed him).

Lukaku was shit in his second season… But he was part of the Paris miracle in 2019, which remains one of our sweetest memories of the last decade…

Concerning Rasmus, I honestly have hopes he will improve and turn out to be a great striker… He has the pace and has enough inherent qualities to make it. He is only 22… At that age Drogba was playing in the French second tier… We gotta be patient with him. A loan could do us both a favour. Or keep him as a bench option if we land a great striker.

Inter will probably want him on loan for next to nothing, they have better strikers at the club already but can’t let a bargain slide (though in Hojlund’s case the only way you are getting him on a bargain is if you pay nothing).

Give it a month and people will forget how poor he was this season. They’ll tell you he’s young with elite pace and strength.

I’ve seen little to none of that this season.

Even a successful loan outside the Prem isn’t enough proof he’ll be as success here.

Apparently Leverkusen are signing Flekken as the new no.1 who is under the same agency as Ten Hag. Same pattern again at new club. We should offer them Hojlund and see if Ten Hag takes the bite.

you're arguing with your own prediction here mate

Really wanted him to succeed here and do think it was a bit unfair to expect him to leas the line alone, should be understudy to more established experienced striker

We need the money and a better striker so if selling means we can get someone proper than ok but surely we then need to buy two strikers this summer?

Not if Zirkzee is seen as a number 9.

It'd be a win win for them. Get him on a cheap loan and see if he can replicate his Atalanta form. If he doesn't it becomes our headache again in a years time.

I don't think it would be a good deal for us unless they also promise to take Onana back.

If Inter are willing to take a punt on him we should be calling them every day to try and push the deal through.
