I thought that before his injury Zirkzee did pretty well, but that was mainly when he played as a 10 right? His link up play and hold up play were decent though that's why I thought he could do better with goal scoring 10s. It's a different role, more similar to Firmino who had set up Salah nd Mane nicely. I could see him do that well but I agree that's not the typical striker in Amorim's system. As a backup option, why not? Him and Chido should share their playing times.
 
He commented on the ongoing rumours after Denmark's win last night.

Basically saying that he is fully dedicated to United, and that he expect to play here after the summer break. Again and again he underlines that he has a contract until 2030 at United, and that's his focus.

Also said that he hasn't noticed the rumours sending him to Inter, because he doesn't read the rumours. Yeah right.

Sounds like a player that doesn't want to leave. And that the club hasn’t convinced him to yet either.
 
Yeah good for him if he doesn't want to leave. But regardless needs to go. We need to bring in a starting CF and hojlund getting the random 10 games or so all season isn't going to do him any good
 
Not sure of the source but this from Scholesy: "I'd keep Hojlund. I know he's not been great, but he's a 22-year-old kid who has been asked to play centre-forward for Manchester United on his own for the last two years. He's had to play every week. He's the only one there, and he's a 22-year-old kid. With the way they play, Man United should have at least three top centre-forwards, and l'd bring him into that group."

Of course he doesn't want to leave, most shit players we want to get rid of don't want to leave. That's been a constant issue for us for years

The guy doesn't know how to read or count either, he signed a 5-year contract in 2023.
 
He obviously wants to stay. I just think it says something about how far from a move he must be at this stage. Doesn't sound like he's been asked by the club to find a new club yet. If he knew that the club wanted him gone, it would be wise for him to at least acknowledge the interest from a potential new club.
 
Even though he was beyond shit last season, generationally shit in fact, I’m comfortable with him remaining as back up to a top class striker.

I think with all the pressure removed and time to find his feet he can be an adequate deputy.

If him staying comes at the expense of us making crucial signings however then he can go - I just don’t think at this stage anyone will stump up the cash.
