I think it will compliment original RE4 rather than surpass or retire it. The campiness will be toned down and some of the more, er, 'dodgy' lines in the game might be cleaned up (" I see the President's equipped his daughter with ballistics, too " 
) but i think it will stay pretty close to the OG in other ways.

Original is one my favourite games of all time (Wii version absolutely rules), so I'm hoping this keeps the chunky feel of the combat from the original while updating the pretty dated graphics.
Wonder how it will compare to the HD fan made remake which kept it as close to the original as possible

Am I right in just saying this is mainly just texture updates? So essentially an unofficial remaster.
The new game is going to be a fully rebuilt game, I imagine using the same engine as 2/3 with RE4 specific some tweaks.
Damn this looks good. I get the feeling it will complement the original rather than replace it.

Original RE4 is like the only game I know where the escort section isn’t painful (would have been more fun if Ashley’s voice wasn’t so grating), so I hope the remake does the same.

Looking forward to this. RE2 remake was one of my favourites on the ps4, though Nemesis had its moments it was, unfortunately, rather a tad underwhelming.
Graphically this looks superb, gameplay looks encouraging and hopefully the sound design, which will give the games texture, is just as impressive.

I‘m sure that new knife parry mechanic is going to build towards Krauser in some way. Hopefully he can parry you too just to make more interesting.

I love Re4 and have played it multiple times, but if they made it vr I think it'd be too scared to play it.
Ashley's redesign is a disgrace. Can't believe they've covered those big iconic ears.

It's been confirmed for re8 and I think 7, but they haven't confirmed how much of re4 will be vr. Could be whole game or like a side quest

Agreed. Ironically it's probably what's keeping me from grabbing a PSVR2 now as I know I'll just be mainlining this when it's released. Pre-ordered from Base/Hit.
You can play it on a PS4 if you have one as it's not a PS5/current gen exclusive.
