34 is no age to go. Such terrible news.

Hope the club does some kind of tribute.

Tragic, Heartbreaking. Hopefully the footballing world will wrap it's arms around Rio and the whole family.

Life will never be the same for Rio or those poor kids. Gutted for them all. Those kids are just lucky they have Rio Ferdinand as Dad somebody who I am sure will find the strength to get them through this. RIP Mrs Rebecca Ferdinand.

Is there any way we, as a group, could sponsor a charity such as Cancer Research or MacMillan Nurses? Niall?

That's awful news, RIP. I hope the club do something at the game in her honour - as Rio probably still has very close ties to people at the club, both on and off the pitch.
I hope fans will take care of him today !

I couldnt believe the headline, when I seen , such sad news

But one annoying this is all celebrity's posting condolences on twitter, and maybe they do or dont, but they should pick up a phone and offer condolences directly, or if close visit the person, thats what I would do

And to think he has been questioned for his form all season. Some journos must be feeling like right pricks right now.

Nah, who am I kidding?

So sad. She's so young...and cancer! May she RIP. My heart goes out to Rio, their three children, her parents and loved ones.

Was shocked when I heard about this, not even knowing she'd been ill.

Cancer is an absolute bastard.

Thoughts with Rio, the poor little kids and the rest of their family. Just horrible.

Hope the team will be wearing black armbands today.
Same. Any suggestion of this?

Heard on Twitter they are.

This reminds me of Elena Baltacha. She retired from tennis and few months later got diagnosed with cancer. She died 6 months after retiring from playing tennis and getting married.

Cancer is such a horrible disease.

United or QPR? I heard QPR are, but I think it'd be a great sign of respect from United towards, let's be honest, one of the best defenders to ever play for us.

Devastating news for those kids to lose their mom like that. Rio's head must be all over the place, but I'm sure his first priority is staying strong in front of, and for, the kids. His private grief must be tremendous.

With retirement beckoning, they must've planned to do so much together in the near future before the cancer was found. Tragic on all levels.

RIP.
