Still furious about that free kick of his. Too weak for a shot, too strong for a pass. Either shoot or pass. How thick can you be?

His worst moment was the assist since it was a good chance for him which he ruined with a trademark touch. The rest was 5/10 stuff, an improvement from the Rooney of previous weeks.

Rooney didn't take all the corners. Rashford and Depay took them as well and we didn't really look threatening from any.

I think they just keep bigging him up so we keep playing him and stay shit, because they all hate us.
One of the commentators actually said "It wasn't a bad double substitution was it! One substitution lining it up for the other!" -

I cringed when I saw that Cameron actually intercepted it into Martial's path. Rooney looked like a clueless chicken once again.

Mata and Blind are clearly our best corner kick takers. Rooney hasn't assisted from a corner since 2013. Just take that in.

 The bar is so low for Rooney. If he merely connects with a couple of passes the English media seem to be impressed.

I was always confused about how my impression of a player's performance was generally pretty consistent with the commentators' assessment, EXCEPT for when it came to Wayne Rooney. There have been many games when they were praising how great Rooney played while I thought he was mediocre. When he is truly having a nightmare out there, they wouldn't mention Rooney, and when he starts playing a little bit better the next half (still not good), they would immediately start going on about how great he's been and how brilliant his ball to Valencia is.

My dad who doesn't like to criticise was watching when he came on and Rooney passed it to someone about 15ft away at about 100mph and he just says "bloody hell", I just said it's Wayne that's what he does

I swear after reading these posts, you'd think Wayne donkey punched all of your mothers.

I don't, and will not ever understand the hate. He is such a non story it's baffling.

I would agree that it was a non-story if it weren't for the fact that he is our highest paid player. In any kind of team, if the highest paid person is contributing sweet FA then it will continue to be a story. The only way this won't be a story anymore is when he leaves because there is zero chance of him making a positive contribution to the side over the next years of his contract, he's finished.

But if he'd taken the corners against Leicester he would have had three assists.*

*According to English pundits.
