Re Sancho comparisons, At the moment it’s like comparing Ryan Giggs to Lee Sharpe
I do not think there is much doubt that Sancho is more exciting. But I do not think we can afford to spend more than £100 mill on one player in the situation we are in now.

We probably need two or three defenders and we might have to replace Herrera this summer. And who knows what will happen with de Gea and Martial?

Imo he does not look ready for a top club. Granted I've only seen him a handful of times.
I mean, he hasnt been starting much for Fulham recently. I think that says enough. Been an impact sub in recent weeks after he played 90 mins against us. 2 weeks off the bench and then started against Arsenal.

So why would we buy someone who isnt trusted to play every week at Fulham instead of using Chong to save some money if we want to use a young player on the wing?

We once bought a kid who was not trusted to play for Sporting Lisboa every week and it worked out ok.

If we believe Chong is good enough to be considered an option that is great. If not, we probably need to replace Mata. But Mata is not a regular starter. If there is a player out there (who we realistically could get) that would be a starter for us at right wing, that would be great. If not, a young player with potential to be should be considered.

So you think he's Cristiano Ronaldo. Got it.

I disagree in the strongest of terms.

I can see why you would want to grab for a strawman argument like that, but it makes you look stupid.
The person who doesn't think Ryan Sessegnon is anything like Cristiano Ronaldo is stupid? Got it. You're beyond hope

The person who read my post and based on that arrive at the conclusion that I think he is Cristiano Ronaldo would struggle in a PISA-test.

Btw, I’m already looking forward too your next Lindelof-analysis. Your last attempt was very cute.

Wasn’t he supposed to be a real talent? Fulham is so poor I thought he would be an instant starter for them

Back in the starting lineup for Scott Parker's first game in charge, against Chelsea. He was playing RW today in the 2nd half too. He did alright imo, quite lively throughout.

Bale looked pants for Spurs for his first 2 or 3 seasons. Same will happen with Sessegnon until he finds his feet
Rubbish. Bale made his league debut for Spurs at OT and was excellent, he then scored in his next two appearances for the club. Bale being rubbish at Spurs is one of those lazy myths because Spurs went ages without winning with him in the side

Sessegnon just hasn't looked cut out for the PL at all this season but still only 18 so plenty of time to come good, another year in the Championship should be good for him to get his form back

Second highest assists in Europe for a teenage with 5. Only Jaydon Sancho has more. 2 Pl goals and 5 PL assists in total. Compare that to Hudson-odoi who has 0 goals and 0 assists.
Fulham in general have been abysmal and will be relegated and that's not good either for the confidence of an 18 year old who will be expected to defend more than attack. Rashford, Martial and Pogba recently all looked mediocre and not good enough in a system where they had to defend all game under Jose.

He's been fine in attack, but very lightweight. I see him fall over at the slightest touch. Obviously when he's not getting touched and has time to play a ball into the box for a teammate he's shown he can do that.

He was shocking at leftback though. Much better as a winger

Hardly a fair comparison
Also how many assists does Joao Felix have?

It not a fair comparison, neither is comparing Joao Felix. Generally speaking, looking at stats for teenagers is quite a weird way to assess their potential.
Felix has got four, for the record. But he's playing for Benfica in Portugal. So the best team in a weaker league. Whereas Sessegnon is playing for Fulham in the EPL. The second worst team in a much harder league.

Not spotted the supposedly special talent this kid is supposed to have. He looks like someone whose been thrust to the level too soon and needs time to adapt to it's pace and intensity. Maybe then the talent will shine but can't say I've seen anything at all yet from his time in the PL.

Less than 18 months left on his contract, if he hasn't signed on by the summer, I imagine they'll sell.

Talent never looks the same when you measuring it against others in the PL and not the Championship. Jack at the Villa will be exactly the same....

He should just be a squad player at this level for next season and he’s already championship proven. If they go down and he doesn’t sign a new deal then his price should drop enough for a club to take a punt on him. The figures mentioned earlier for him were obscene and he would have got a serious bashing on the back of a transfer that big so early on. I could imagine him popping up at a club like Dortmund RBL Monaco or Spurs and doing really well over the next few years everyone wanting him again for mega money. He just needs games and patience. He wouldn’t get either here really

Interesting, he should consider moving to an established PL team over a Top 6 team. Don't think he'd get many appearances in a Top 6 team, maybe at Tottenham or perhaps Arsenal (instead of Iwobi)? Either way the lad has real talent imo and what he really needs is to play in a team that isn't goddamn awful.

Never really understood the hype around Sessegnon. I've seen him quite a few times, both at left back and left wing but have always been left slightly underwhelmed.

That said, I can understand why we'd be in for him though:

1) He can play both left back. Other than Shaw, we have no left backs. He's better going forward than Shaw, too.

2) He's left footed and would provide our squad with a much needed balance.

3) He's only 19. He's already got quite a bit of experience at PL level and you can imagine he'll only get better.

One is a leftback, the other is a winger.

TFM looked a much better fullback than Sessegnon did for Fulham last season
Sessegnon has had a lot of games at left back and I would imagine that, if we were to buy him, he and Shaw would both be used in that position.

Can’t forget how old this kid is, I honestly think out of all the talent in his age group he has the b st chance of reaching a top PL standard. Will he be a worldly I have no idea but he certainly has the attributes to be one.

More so than Sancho? I don't think so personally.

Yep, I mean if nothing else he's got more minutes than anyone ages 18 or younger (In the top 5 Leagues in Europe)

Ryan Sessegnon is on 2,298mins
Benoit Badiashile is on 1,673mins
William Saliba is on 852mins
Vinícius Júnior is on 774mins
Sofiane Diop is on 742mins

He's scored 2 league goals, Vinícius Júnior is the only other player in the same bracket to have scored more than 1 goal (he's also on 2). He's got 33 key passes this season, only Pogba, Rashford, Martial and Young have more Key Passes at United. Only Trippier and Eriksen have more at Tottenham and this is an 18 year old lad playing in his first season in PL for a relegated club.

Sancho has 2373 league minutes (2880 total). He is only a few weeks older than Sessegnon.

Might as well post this in here as well. Personally I don't think he'll end up playing the positions he has been doing this season.

I think he'll end up as a raumdeutuer type player like Muller or Alli. He's played in 9 different positions for Fulham this season. He got 2 goals and 6 assists only Mitrovic got more goals and assists for Fulham (14), Babel also got 8. At age 18 he has 121 senior apps 25 goals and 19 assists. Its a remarkable record whatever the case.

He's a very intelligent player but lacking technically and physically. People in the Gomes thread are keen to allow him time to develop physically but Sessegnon is only 3 months older than Gomes so still has time to develop physically.

Not sure that him coming to United is the best move for player or club at this point though.
