"If they are unable to complete this questionnaire, they will be refused travel and issued with a full refund," the airline continued.

What the hell is wrong with the world?

Leave alone the audacity to come up with a stupid test like that, at least do some research to see what the folks in that country speak. A simple google search may have helped.

Someone at Ryanair needs to be fired several times.

Wonder how many meetings it took to come up with this brilliant solution

Surely there's an option to pay an extra 10 quid to avoid having to do the test?

Why are they testing people? Surely the immigration department should be doing that.

What am I missing here?

There has evidently been a sudden rise in people trying to travel using fake SA passports. If there's a concern about passports, someone from Immigration should be asking the questions.

Ryanair should stick to doing the things they're good at, like cancelling flights at short notice.

Cake or Death?
There was a time, in Ryanair’s infancy, where all publicity was good publicity. I doubt this holds true now.

Stupid thing to do, however a lot more than 13% can speak and understand Afrikaans.
A lot of provinces, outside of KZN, which is the Zulu capital, speak and understand Afrikaans.
In fact, some of their Afrikaans is even way better than mine.

I’m South African too. I would’ve failed the test.
