Scrapping the League Cup

I fail to see why it should be scrapped. The big clubs complaining about it have mega squads of 50+ players across all eligible age groups. Play your youth and get it over with. The lower league clubs generate some needed revenue from the bigger ties.

Keep the league cup, scrap in season internationals, fully scrap international friendlies.

Reduce CL/Europa to knockout competition only no seeding.

What's not to like?.

League cup produces some great away days. Much better than the FA cup. Cheaper tickets and midweek is ace

For many clubs outside the Premier League in-particular, the League Cup can be a burden, especially due to the incredibly low prize money on offer round by round. The FA Cup prize money round by round dwarfs that in the League Cup. So with a packed 46 game league schedule, without the squad depth that Premier League clubs have, and with very little financial incentive on offer, it’s no surprise that it’s not exactly a priority.

When the games were played behind closed doors last season, without gate receipts many lower league clubs were losing money hosting the games.

It should just be for non europe qualifed teams, let the rest have a chance of silverware and free up a few extra mid weeks for league games and rest.

And then maybe invite some teams from Spain, Italy.. maybe Bayern?
I don't know about you but as a fan, i am sick to death of all this complains from players and managers. In world of football, managers and players are payed highest in PL. And they are crying and crying.
If they don't like this many games, they can feck off to some midtable club in Norway, Greece or Serbia and play one game per week for 50k yearly salary.

They all should be ashamed. Payed millions and millions and they are crying. If FA cut games, scrape LC and introduce winter break, money from sponsors will be lower. How the feck they can't understand that? Are they stupid? Or what?

It’s such a crap cup, the hardest part of the cup every year is just remembering what it’s actually called now. Coca Cola cup, Carling Cup, Carabao cup, DD cup

It's only really England and Portugal of the bigger leagues who have 2 cups (and Scotland lol)
Spain got rid in 86, France abolished in 2020, Germany in 07. I don't think Italy ever had it.
It should be a u23/u21 competition. Most teams treat it like that anyway. Except City... probably the reason they won 6 out of the last 8
Italy does have a league cup(multiple ones in fact, going all the way down to the amateurs). It's the FA Cup equivalent we don't have

Germany, Spain and France abolished theirs(short lived in the first two cases) because it failed to generate interest. What's the point of holding a competition that is meant to make money for the lower leagues when it doesn't?

The english league cup is different in that regard. It can be abolished, sure, but the PL would have to give a bigger slice of the pie to the EFL to make up for it
